I'm guessing that you won't be doing that again! Next time, just install SuperSU without doing anything with superuser. SuperSU will become the default (Alpha Male)!

Thanks for the help everyone, all is well now. Turns out I just had to re-enable root in the developer options. SuperSU is working as it should be now.

I just rooted. How do I check for root?

I am in the process of rooting my phone. I have flashed the vralec bootchain and installed the custom recovery. I chose CWM Touchwiz. The issue I am having is the recovery claims there is no .zip file with the superuser and unlocked bootloader. I have tried moving the file around on the sdcard to no avail. I also dled the filed directly to my phone from the guide. What should I try now?

I had the same problem when I tried this originally so I went with TWRP and then my problem was solved. It takes a little while to track down the zip as it could be in a /sdcard/0/ or /storage/extSdCard/0/ directory folder, but you should be fine if you look in those. Hope this helps!:good:

Download "Root Checker" from the Play Store. It will show you whether or not you are rooted.
I may be mistaken but if you have Super User or Super SU installed you've achieved root. At least, that's what I looked for to make sure the root took.

You can always open up a terminal emulator and type su. If the $ turns into a # and or superuser pops up and asks for permissions, then that means you're rooted.
So I used the CF Auto root to root my nexus 5. I have installed the omni rom and I am told I don't have root or that I need to install superuser, which i tried to do without success. What do I do? The prompt comes up when launching root apps

I already told you.
Ok, I've read your thread about how to upgrade to Lollipop the Nexus.
The fact is that my main pc have no working USB ports, so if I want to unlock the bootloader and stuff like this I have to use my second pc, and it is very slow (the last time to just fastboot a factory image it tooks me one hour of suffering).
I think that the method 2b is the one that is closest to my situation:
1. Unlock bootloader if necessary (This wipes data)
2. Accept OTA update
3. Fastboot flash a custom recovery image (of your choice)
4. Fastboot flash a custom boot.img (@Chainfire for basic root, @sykopompos for full permissive mode)
5. Flash from recovery, SuperSU

Click to collapse
I don't want root, so:
2. Accept OTA update

If I have understood, the only thing that I have to do is use flashify to flash the OTA checker zip. file and than proceed with the OTA, right?
If there is another way to do this without use the PC, it will be great, but I don't know.
Is what I said right or I forgot something?
Thank you with your help anyway!

If yes, I can't flash with a custom recovery because I have the stock recovery (because I'm rooted with only Towelroot, so stock recovery and locked bootloader)

Then you can't use it! Wait for the OTA and install it.
I already have the OTA, but I think that there could be some issues, this is why I want to check if everything it's good, I don't want to brick/bootloop the device

After searching google i could not find a recovery.img for my specific model number SM-G925A.
I need help if there is a way i can install a custom recovery or how to update su binary so i can grant root access to apps.
By the way i am a newbie in the rooting world.. so simple answers will be appreciated!

I meant that you can try to place su binary in appropriate place manually and give permissions. See this tutorial for manual install section https://github.com/koush/Superuser/issues/216#issuecomment-38354585
If this not helped you need to reroot your device. Unfortunately, I do not know the other options, it is a pity that you have no custom recovery.
