Ok so two/three days ago i was on the stock rom ut then i wanted to change. I had an issue before with the updates so i kinda knew what to do all i did is to flash system.img and boot.img which i did. Then i rooted the device again and did all the process of returning my apps and all. I changed back to rom stock because all i wanted is to change kernel which i also did haha. So now im stock 4.4 with costume kernel. I thought it might be the costume kernel that mess it all up bu its not. When im trying to flash the 4.4.1/2 from the TWRP recovery it says failed.
If you installed a custom kernel you'll need to revert to the stock kernel to load the ota

If you were previously on 4.4.1+ and flashed 4.4 it's failing is because the OTA package is looking for the 4.4 radio.
My advice would be to flash system and boot images for 4.4.2 since they are now available. No need to flash the OTA.

How do you put the pit in pit section and modem in phone section?
use odin to flash it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032
is there a way to flash modem.zip through CW?
So is the rom to be flashed via CWM and then odin flash the modem? Or do i need to odin flash DK05+ pit and then modem.bin + pit afterwards?
Can we have more info on this rom?Is this official stock froyo before sprint and samsung put their overlay on it?
Thanx in advance.
thanks for clarification
This is awesome, I'm glad I asked...
EDIT I don't understand the modem flash part though. I go back to stock with Odin? Then flash the DK05 ROM? Then the modem??? I can't figure out a method that would actually make sense. Am I not supposed to use Clockwork at all in this process?

Looking for a complete stock rom without root. Something someone could flash and go back to factory and with all the gaps all ready loaded. I looked all over but could only find stock with root.
Thanks

Not trying to be mean too. But have you downloaded the file? If you did downloaded it, have you extracted the contents? If you did extracted the contents, can you let us know how to flash those BIN files?
That is the stock unrooted firmware. Just reading the last few posts on the thread looks like how to reflash stock hasn't been discovered yet.. at the same time you can unroot with superoneclick the do a factory reset with volume down and power button.. that should be "stock".. stock froyo should be 60-75mb as far as any mods by LG.. idk.. wouldn't think it would make it 500mb (lil over actually I downloaded it a couple days ago just to have it around). But this really should be in general.. if your having a problem ask.. there is a lot of great minds willing to help..

Yes that is the stock unrooted firmware. But it contains BIN files. One is the baseband which is flashable via Smartflash. I tried extracting files out of the bigger BIN file via ExtractNow and also mounting it via Virtual Clone Drive but it didn't work.
I've already asked paulobrien to make an NVFlash stock rom release for the G2X much like the one he did for the O2X (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007825). But he hasn't replied yet.
If I know the odmdata value and the android_fastboot_emmc_full.cfg, I would have done it myself.

Yea same thing here with me I've asked Paul to help with nvflash commands but no answer back yet. Im one of those that can benefit from this right now as my phone in a boot loop, But all of us will benefit from this sonner or later. After flashing ex amount of roms and themes its always good to go back to stock and start flashing from a stock build.

Not trying to be an ass as well, it is not for me.
Some background info:
Nexus 5
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP
Running Purity Rom
I have been running this Rom for about 2 months with no major issues. Now I am being prompted to do an OTA to 4.4.3. If I was stock that would be normal and expected but I am not sure what to do in my situation. I can not stop the prompt, I clear it from my notification window and it just appears back in 10 seconds or so.
I have tried to figure it out but cant find anything on the Purity thread, and I cant post my question there because I don't have 10 posts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this answer is in a million places and I didn't see it.
Do not accept the OTA. Flash another rom if you want rid of the notification

I am in a pretty similar situation. At this point I'm happy with the stability and performance of the build I'm on. Upgrading to 4.3.3 isn't a huge concern at this moment. I just don't have the time to reconfigure all applications and settings if I have to do a wipe.
Figured out I out if you disable viewing notifications from the Google play services app the notification will go away.

Reading Puritys thread, you can dirty flash it, but do it at your own risk. I read quite a bit of success doing it.
I run Purity 4.4.3 and it's really nice.
But like I said, either disable it if you don't care for the update, or try a dirty flash.
Or back everything up, and wipe, then flash and then restore.
But I take no responsibility for what may happen if you dirty flash, or anything.

I forgot to come back and update this thread. The issue for me was resolved by doing a dirty update, with no wipes at all. Obviously do a nandroid back up in your respective recovery first.

The M8 is the first HTC phone I've had. I was a Motorola fan until they locked down their phones tight. I've S-Offed, rooted and bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed on my M8. I'm running a few mods through Xposed and have bloatware frozen with Titanium. I'm just curious if I need to S-on or relock the bootloader and flash the stock recovery to take the OTA? I've heard to wait for devs to get ahold of the update and check it out first but even then what preparations do I need to make? Would really appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advance.
In order to take the OTA you will pretty much have to go back to stock. I would wait until it drops and flash a custom version so you can keep all your tweaks.
If you WANT to accept the ota, I believe you will need stock ROM, stock kernel, and you will need stock recovery. Not sure about locked boot loader, but s off should be fine.
If you DONT want to accept the ota, flash a ROM like cleanrom with a custom recovery and hang tight until someone packages the firmware. For this you will need to use one of the two s off methods, firewater or sunshine s off
By that do you mean one that devs make flashable through custom recovery? Sorry I feel like a newb with this phone. Wish all manufacturers could just do things the same way. I definitely don't want to lose root or unlocked bootloader
Guess I'll just hang tight and see what other people are cooking up once the OTA drops

Yeah, I'm sure Scott will make a flashable zip of the stock rom. He's going to stock now to be able to pull files and such. Just wait it out till a flashable zip hits.
Will it be just like flashing on a Motorola? Flash from custom recovery and all my data settings stay just like if I took the OTA?

Did I forget the at the end of my post again? Lighten up people, it's my opinion, everyone's got one!
I'm sure we're going to get oodles of people updating, then complaining when they can't use Xposed. Like in this thread, and the 5 others below it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-lolipop-t3013726
I'm excited it's finally released, I think L is a much better OS. I'm excited to use it eventually!
Mine did the first update then says the second will be available soon.
I could go back to stock and check, but that's a lot of work.
Very Exciting News over here
Hi all!
Did some reading through the ODIN thread for the Verizon GS5. I'm still on 4.4.2, rooted, because I didn't see the benefit in just going to 4.4.4 and having to jump through hoops to keep root.
With 5.0 on the horizon here, I'm hoping people can shed some light on the update process, even if it means losing root. Currently when an OTA update is attempted, it downloads, goes into the stock bootloader, attempts to install, realizes that a "custom firmware" was attempted, and tells me the update failed. I just froze sdm 1.0 through Titanium and figured I would worry about it once Lollipop approached.
With that being said, is the only way to make the phone not read "custom" with the unlock symbol on boot to revert back to stock with Odin? Just planning to see if it's possible to keep data on the upgrade or if I'll essentially have to start from scratch.
Thanks!
