Need Evita Community Help ( Leaving my fate in your hands ) - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Okay I know I've only been here with you Evita users for what 6 months and I have developed a few roms ( kickdroid series ) and made a few modpacks... And everyone seems to enjoy my work from what I see and I thank all of you for your time and support..... but it's time for me to move on to a device that will get kitkat with sense 5.5 or whatever sense version comes with it, I will still own this phone and develop for it just need a new device... But here is my issue, I have a few phones I've been wanting but I'm not sure which one to choose because there are features that attract me to wanting them all but I can on choose one.... so I need your guys help on choosing
1. HTC Droid DNA - 5" 1080p display with global capabilities ( Gsm/Cdma ), 8mp rear camera, 2mp front facing camera, with 2gigs of ram.
Advantages - and just recieved sense 5 4.2.2 and according too Football it will reciece kitkat too...
Disadvantages - Only issue is the charge flap falls off and when it comes to Verizon they have very secured bootloaders
2. HTC One ( gsm version ) - 4.7" 1080p display, 2gigs of ram, 4UP camera, zoe, BoomSound, and snapdragon 600 processor 4 cores...
Advantages - is receiving kitkat of course......
Disadvantages - but I've seen drop test with this phone and the metal around the speakers fall of and I usually drop my phone off surfaces on occasion and don't want to ruin a expensive piece of equipment..
3. HTC One Mini - 4.3" 720p display. 1gb L3 ram, dual core, BoomSound, zoe, 4UP Camera, Snapdragon 400 processor
Advantages - First of all I have used this phone and love the feel of it in my hands, and according to football it will recieve kitkat......
Disadvantages - But I'm not a person who likes to go from a bigger screen to a smaller screen. And not only that it feels like it's just a slightly update HTC ONE XL. And same issues as I would have with the HTC ONE
4. HTC Desire 600 by VM - have played with the phone and kinda like it but seems as specs have degraded with HTC new sense 5 devices, even know it contains all the features found on the HTC ONE..
Advantages - Cheaper to buy, Has all features on the HTC One Minus Camera And processor and ram
Disadvantages - VM ( sprint network ), low development
5. HTC One Max .... Just put it this way it's a beast with a 5.9 1080p display, Amazing Battery ,
Advantages - huge phone and the bigger the better for me , will recieve latest OTAs , amAzing battery.
Disadvantages - no major change from the HTC One except for size and battery.
Please help me everyone. Will be appreciated.

To be honest, I'd wait for a few more months and get the next big thing.

Since you're clearly sticking with HTC, I say wait out the m8.
Technology is a volatile market. You think you have the best, and in a month, something else tramples you

Or sometimes you pour so much into making the right decision, assuming your getting the best, and the day after you buy it something new is announced! Just keep an eye on press releases from HTC.

The Mini and the Max are oddball mid-year releases, that are almost certain to be relegated to obscurity, low sales, and poor community support. Like the One X+, they seem like devices just meant to fill the gap in the schedule until the release of the next "real" phone (M8).
The One is a great phone. But we are closer to the release of the M8 than the previous generation. So I agree with the above votes to wait for the next wave. Even more so with the DNA.

I'd go with an HTC one developer edition. I mean you can wait for the m8 but as far as I have seen it is a small upgrade to the HTC one. When considering, I would look into camera. The one xl witch I own has a great camera. The one witch I also own has a downgraded camera. Yea it has zoe but you can get that on the one xl with no trouble. I don't do a lot with cdma so I don't know about how development is for verizon or sprint.

The HTC One doesn't have a downgraded camera. Just because it has a lower count of megapixels doesn't mean it's worse. It uses different technology that doesn't require a huge amount of pixels to create a good image.

Sensation or One X?

Hey guys, I might sign up for a contract after the recent death of
my beloved HD2, but I don't know if I should get the HTC sensation XE
pr the HTC One X, would it be worth waiting for the One X, or should
I just buy the Sensation XE?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/htc...ternet-only-31-per-month-mobilephones-1154717
Get the One X
If the Sensation gets a proper Sense 4.0 update, then the Sensation is more worth it unless you do heavy gaming. When it comes to poking around Android, a quad core offers little improvement over a dual-core.
go for the one x man the sensation unfortunately is already old
One S
The One S is similar to the Sensation. You need a big hand for One X's 4.7 inch screen . Apparently, that's why iPhones don't get any bigger. You're supposed to be able to reach the top left corner with your thumb whilst holding the phone.
If u want the latest & bigger screen, then go for One. Otherwise the S4G still rocks....

Go the One X
The One X's screen is lovely.
A) Samsung makes CRAP
B) One X has no removable storage (nor do any of the new HTCs - which may force me to leave HTC despite being a huge fan of their products, generally )
Food for thought.

Galaxy Nexus is an awesome phone but it's gotta be the One X - it's just not worth getting an old phone with such new awesomeness around the corner

Free for two years...that's HTC dropping you a hint.
For now I wait to know what are the possibilities of the dark side before you get into the purchase of one X.
Sensation has removable battery, microsd expansion, Dual core 1.2Ghz Qualcomm S3
Phones that dont have microsd or removable battery
Xperia S (Dual core 1.5Ghz S3) - no microsd, embedded battery
HTC One series - no microsd embedded battery (free 2 years dropbox) (X - Dual core 1.5Ghz S4 or Tegra 3)
Galaxy Nexus - no microsd (Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9)
Ask yourself what you do need
To be fair, the One X has 25gb of USEABLE storage, and I have NEVER used more than 16gb on my hd2( which was the size of my sd card)
I don't mind not having a removable battery, I'm sure that any 3rd
Party accessory producers can make a portable charger( they probs already
Have a few)
I think the Sensation is best for flash rom and so the removable battery is important for me and internal capacity ...

HTC One X vs One S vs My Sensation XE

Hi guys not sure if this would be classed as being under the HTC ONE X forum but should be as its aimed at it.
I've currently got a HTC Sensation XE and I'm looking to upgrade to the One X or One S now I'm unsure which one to go with the One X is about £70+ than the One S but has the super LCD 2 HD screen and the other only has the pentile super amoled which is similar to the original galaxy s's where I could see the pixels every now and again depending on the situation etc.
I'm torn between them both as I've been asked to check for any issues with either of them so im wondering is the performance increase going to be there on the one X as I've heard the tegra is slower than the Qualcomm s4 chips quad core wise and the dual s4 chip isnt far off in certain tests, benchmarks and real life?
Could anyone provide me with some useful information and feedback between them and if the performance is a step up from dual core or if its how android used to be not supporting dual core properly till later android builds etccheers

The quadcore for me has been a huge setp up compared to my note. Performance wise it is top notch. I don't care about benchmark scores. In day to day operation it is flawless. The choice is up to you but I would recommend the quad one x.

One X..
Superior display( RGB IPS vs pentile)
Superior build quality( polycarbonate vs some metal)
Bigger screen
Much better performance
Stunning looks( talking about the white color ofcourse)
N trust me ..u don't wanna be stuck with. Pentile display..its sucks ..especially while watching movies n videos..sold off my Galaxy Note coz of that..u will regret buying a pentile display..atleast I did..

i upgraded from a Sensation XE recently to a One X and i have been loving it. Sense has become smoother (albeit not earthshakingly smoother as the XE on ICS is doing pretty okay) and the screen is awesome.
One thing. I checked out the One S after using my One X for a few weeks. I could actually see pixelation. Kinda surprised since everyone says its not that big an issue. Seems like our eyes adjust very quickly to better display
S

My friends wife has the S, good phone but I would pay £70 just for the superior screen, let alone other upsells. OneX all day long.
Ill be honest I'd go for the x also...although I like my s...still want the x even now.
More for cm9 then the phone maybe...
Still what worries me also with the x is the amount of dodgy devices having to be replaced

As you asked this in the One X section, 'course a lot of people will tell you to get the X. Though (imo) it really depens on your needs.
I've got the One X for about a week now. I have to say, it is an awesome phone. I really really love the screen. Too bad it is this huge.. It just doesn't fit quite well in my hand. (true, my hands are kind off small) I used to have an HD2, which is only .5cm smaller yet way easier to hold and use with one hand. As I cycle a lot I find this quite important.
If it wasn't for the screen and dev support (don't get me wrong: both are very important!), I would actually buy the One S. In everyday usage the One S is just as fast (maybe even faster) as the quad One X. Unless you want to play a lot of high quality games. If there is any difference at all with 'normal' usage, you won't notice the 0.05 seconds. Also the S' battery life is better, and it looks and feels better imo. This is something really personal though.
But yeah.. Once you've seen the X's screen you won't be satisfied with any other.. Just don't buy it because you think a quadcore phone will surely be faster/better.
Just my two cents.
Yeah as said the screen on the X is much much better. I compared my X to a S in store and was actually surprised as to how much better it is. Also coming from the GS2 the X doesn't really feel that much bigger in hand, and I got small hands. I got the grey one, which looks awesome in my opinion. Even better than the white, but that's personal preference of course.

One V does not have a front camera or a removable battery.
In a couple of days, the desire s will be running the same software as the one v.
The only thing going for the one v is probably the better screen.
Otherwise, the ds is still better in so far as hardware is concerned.
What... You never want to use video chat or face unlock...???!!!

Agree with enigmaamit, but also few more details:
HTC One V ---------Desire S
Screen ppi 252 PPI vs 251 PPI
Sharp display of text, images and video
Screen type TFT LCD vs Super-LCD
The Desire S's screen is fantastic, while the One V's is pretty average
RAM 512 MB vs 768 MB
The Desire S has a lot of RAM for running apps, but the One V is average.
One V, if you are not into rooting your phone.
It is new and has a higher probability of seeing the next major upgrade.
Desire S while being a good phone, the display is not as good as one v
Desire S is slcd while one v uses slcd 2, hence the display sharpness and much better image quality
While you will get sense 4A on desire S shortly, it purely boils down to what you like more.
Better display or a bit more ram, front camera or no front camera, root it or not to rrot it...
Your call
For your budget also suggest to check Xperia u

It´s your choice
Hi guys,
i have a desire S, it´s a very good phone with a big and great community (there are very much custom roms) but the one V has some interesting specs i think, only the RAM (512 one V - 768 desire S) and the front cam is better at our lovely desire S but:
- Bluetooth® 4.0
- Bigger internal space 4GB -> Desire S only 1GB
- Better akku 1500mAh -> Desire S 1450mAh i think it doesn´t matter
- Screen is even better
so it´s your choice great community, front cam and more RAM or bluetooth 4, better screen, more internal space and android 4 with Sense 4 directly from HTC
Edit: you are right it's only sense 4 light...

One V doesn't have Sense 4, it has a lite version of sense, which is pretty boring, no leap view, no home screen editing (there's only 5 and you can't even move them). Also it's 2D just like Sense 2.1, the widgets are less than Desire S, and lock screen, is horrible, it only shows weather in the morning. But Desire S will get (probably, I hope it will) Sense 4 full in the future.
Swiped with HTC Trace on Desire S using Endymion 3.5 with HTC Sense 3.5
I also have an iPad 2 iOS5.1.1, Jailbroken.
Regarding internal space - with about 80 apps installed I still have above 500mb left, so imho that's not an issue at all. I wouldn't trade off front cam for extra 3gb of space. Keep in mind, that heavy apps (like games) usually can be moved to sd card.

Get the Desire S!
Maybe as a non-user of Desire S, i could give a more just suggestion.
The HTC One V, though newer and have a more updated software, its specs are not as good as the Desire S. But the upcoming sense 3.6 update for the Desire S would probably be the last update for this line, while for One V, more updates are sure to come. But, if you root and all, Desire S is the way to go.

The only way it is inferior is the lack of the FFC, and smaller RAM. But other than that, the One V is superior

I suggest that DS is better.
The most of One V advances are low-weight and maybe the screen (very subjective).
Also I don't thik that HTC will make major upadates for it. Yesterday I installed ICS CyanogenMod9 on my DS and it seems to be perfect

Nope, the screen on the One V is definitely better. The camera is better too. The branding is better. The support from HTC is better. The design is nicer (this one is subjective, and my opinion)

Why should i decide to stay with one s?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you a couple of questions. HTC ONE S is a beautiful phone, fast, the best to the touch and with a processor speed but ... But in the period where they are baked increasingly cheap quad core and even dual core as the new pro s4 are faster. In addition there is the problem that is not particularly supported by Community, stay with One S?
Express your thoughts thanks
If you want a dull vanilla android then yes ! But I would stay with one s or maybe shift to one x , one x+ or Samsung galaxy s3 ,try using a aokp/aosp Rom that's how a nexus device is,, very plain !! , if you got money to spent go buy some other quad cores like one x and sgs3 , people go with HTC and Samsung coz of their innovative ui ( sense for HTC and touchwiz for Samsung) . Android has only be rocking because of Samsung HTC and Sony , nexus devices are cheaper but not that enjoyable ,

I would say opposite of what this guy says. Samsung and HTC throw crappy interfaces over stock android making it slower and only causing you to not get the updated operating system timely on your phone. Vanilla android is best and I'm planning to buy nexus 4 as soon as it's out. One decent reason to stick with one s is that you don't have money to throw around buying the latest and greatest phone.

If the answer to either of these questions is yes then buy another phone.

As @Troute said: Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do?
I find support pretty decent depending on what you're looking for. There's a good variety of different ROMs available to suit your tastes. Even though there's faster phones available now, it really depends on what you need to make your phone work for you. If you don't notice any issues with lag, performance is good, and battery life is good then I think things should be ok?

I spent $285 on this phone I think I got a solid deal. Definitely don't get an iphone anywhere near retail value. If I had to get a phone right now I would buy the Nexus 4.
Well as it stands right now the nexus 4 is gonna be strictly worst than our phone cuz LG made it. Anyone one else confused on that?
I say go for a onex+ or a s3. imma skip out on this round of smartphones though cuz our one s is one of the top phones out. Everytime i pull it out ppl are like OMG what phone is that. pretty much once the wow factor is gone its time for an upgrade lol
I mainly need a really powerful camera to replace compact digital camera for daily use, I don't want to take two devices go out. So, I will stay with One S and not to go with N4 like everyone else here.
I will probably buy a new phone later when HTC or Sony introduces their new camera sensor. HTC is going to roll out 5" 1080 J Butterfly with 8M cam in Dec on Japan, wanna see if the sensor get improved and I might get one.

LG is guilty of terrible software, but with the Nexus 4 that's not an issue. The hardware of the Nexus 4 is patchwork. On one hand you have the quad core S4 pro, on the other you're stuck with only 12gb of accessible space. On one hand you have an amazing screen, on the other the battery life sucks and can't be upgraded. You have to decide what you can tolerate to decide if a Nexus is for you. I love AOSP, but HATE limited storage. I love the resolution, but HATE the battery life. So I won't be getting a Nexus 4.

Nexus 4 16GB or HTC One 32GB?

Hi there,
I'm planning to sell my Nexus 4 and get the HTC One, I've always wanted the HTC One.
The only considerable difference I can see in specs is the Camera, HTC One at 4MP and Nexus 4 at 8MP, but strangely the Camera on the Nexus 4 isn't that impressive anyway.
Can someone shed some light on differences between these phones and will it be better to stay with Nexus 4 or go with HTC One?
To me, the visible differences are that Nexus 4 has 4.4 KitKat and 8MP Camera. Is the Camera on the HTC One better?
How about Benchmarks, does the HTC One beat Nexus 4 in all Benchmarks where can I check this?
Please advise, cheers!
HTC One has better SoC (processor and GPU), better screen (1080p vs 720), better sound, more internal space, better battery. Which isn't a surprise, since HTC One is a generation younger than Nexus 4.
The only question is price: ff you're going to buy HTC One new at full price, wait 3 weeks, because HTC One (2014) is going to be presented on 25th March and launched in the first week of April.

I won't be. What price do you reckon it will be dropped to this version I'm getting. I'm gonna try get it for £180 new/used if I can, I'm confident I can do it. Will the new be dropped to any price near that?
180£ is too low, even used.
Right now - at least in Portugal - prices of used HTC One in mint condition are around 400€. Maybe in a month or two prices might drop to 350 or 300€. Don't expect lower than that.
For hardware, HTC One is way better. But I would keep the Nexus 4 because the pure Android, the instant android updates and the features that most phones do not support.
It's your choice and the decision depends on your needs and what you do like most
Nexus is always a Nexus, but HTC One has a lot of support and even a Google Edition.

I don't know if Google Stores in UK or Germany sell it. But he doesn't need that. If he wants the AOSP experience, he can flash his regular HTC One.
OK. The thing I do not like very much on HTC phones is the user interface, while Nexus phones have stock Android launcer.
