Hello,
It's a nice idea. The app is well realized and can be useful in some cases.
I keep that on my device for use .

Seems like a cool idea but much liek the app suggests, it blocks for other apps to use the mic, meaning I cant videorecord for instance.

This is because of Android framework imperfection. In future problem will be solved some way.

Just found this app and love it so far.
Could you tell me what I should expect when using a Bluetooth headset? Will it record my headset? Record nothing or Carry on as normal?
Could I also ask for a feature request, it would be nice to see a waveform of the recorded file? The would be a great bonus.
Thanks again for a great app - I'll keep you posted with any bugs!

Thank you very much for your feedback! It's very important for me to know that someone likes my application. Unfortunately i don't have a bluetooth headset, so i can't check. Please check if you have and tell me how it works Waveforms is a great feature that definitely will be presented in future releases. Now i'm working on extra cool update that will be released in a few days. It will not contain waveforms yet, but nonetheless I'm sure you will be amazed!

Just saw the new update! Looking forward to using it.
I did some testing with the bluetooth handsfree and it still records from the phone microphone and NOT the bluetooth headset microphone. Which is ideal really as it keeps everything consistent.
The new version has a cache size and seems to be set to 67hours, is this correct? The size that it says for 67hours looks huge and I don't have that amount of space on my phone, should I change the cache size to 24/48 hours? or just leave it at the 67 hours? any info on the purpose of this would be great.
Finally, the recordings could now have quite a large file size is there anyway to crop the recording? Say it's been recording for 2 hours but I only want the conversation that happened between 10 mins and 8 mins ago (total 2min recording) could I achieve this? or would I have to save the full 2 hour recording?
Great work!

Thank you very much Rochey for the quick and detailed feedback! I very appreciate it!
Initially, the cache size is set to maximum value, which is dramatically huge on your phone I probably should limit it to 24 hours Anyway, you can set it on any value you prefer.
Cropping feature will be presented in future releases. This means that you will have an ability to crop the cache and save some fragment of recording. If you want just to listen conversation from your example - as long as the moment you interested in is in cache, you can jump to it using cache screen and listen
Most likely, the next couple of releases will contain only ui improvements, because it's far from ideal now. I understand the importance of cropping and saving fragments, but I believe that listening feature is more important

so this app just records all the time and when something that you could blackmail happens, you can go back and record it as a file?

ABSOLUTELY NO! The goal of the application is to give you a chance to analyze your life more deeply, to remember some words which was forgotten and to capture the great moments!
That's why i think the listening feature is more important than saving.

Multi channel recording studio...

Hey... I found a really cool recording studio app called Meteor
I installed the demo cab and it works like a charm (you just can't save your work on the demo version).
I'm amazed what our little phones are capable of doing. By the way... this is the first application I've seen where pinch to zoom is a real necessity. In fact... I always have it maximum zoomed and this way it's almost like a virtual desktop. (difficult to explain but I hope you know what I mean)

Not quite... Meteor is a multi-track recording studio that lets you record audio (guitar & voice for example) and process it in many ways. I'm amazed that it really works! But as I said... you need to enable pinch to zoom because the buttons are incredibly tiny!

Excellent! This will come in well handy!
Anyone know of a HD2 compatible version or something similar of this (see attached) ?
Would be really handy for doing rough mixes of my acoustic stuff!
Some nice apps on there. I just bought Chord Explorer, installed it ok but it will not start :-(. Tried re-installing on the phone memory, but still no good.
Anyone else had any problems?

I guess it would have to connect through the micro USB somehow, there's plenty of USB 2.0 mics around but I doubt they'd be compatible via a micro USB/USB 2.0 adapter?
To be fair though the sound quality of the phone mic isn't that bad for low level stuff, I'm amazed at what this phone can do!!
Thanks again for the heads up about MeTeor, excellent find!
Damn, love that Meteor-program!!! Allright, took some definite tweaking before it worked well enough to be functional on the hd2.
But now i've got a working 12 track harddisk recording system in cd-quality in my pocket....for only 30 bucks??!!!
I LOVE my HD2!!!!!
Thanx a million Tubgirl
I think the USB-Mic won't work...problem starts with drivers and ends up with 5V power-supply....
Well, the power-supply could be solved with internal batteries in the mic itself, or just using a dynamic microphone (needs no power to operate)....but drivers are probably the biggest issue...don't even know if one can even write driver software to WinMo, just like it's done to Vista etc.... ??

Yes it's incredible that it really works.
Do you want to share what tweaking you have done?
Brgds... /TubGirl
Well shure, I am afraid its a bit complicated. I'll try and see if I can describe it in a way that makes sense .
The first problem one might experience, at least i did on mine (using official htc 1.66 rom), is crackles, pops and dropouts in your recordings. This can be corrected with some adjustments to audiobuffersettings and the cachesize set by Meteor for your sd-card.
1. You need to find the "PREFS.xml"-file, in the Meteor directory. For me it would be here: My Phone\Memorycard\programs\Meteor\
2. You will need a browser that can open and edit XML-files, I used Adobe Dreamweaver.
3. Open the PREFS.xml and adjust the following:
AudioBufferSize="2048" -> AudioBufferSize="4096"
AudioBufferCount="32" -> AudioBufferCount="64"
ReadCacheSize="32768" -> ReadCacheSize="131072"
WriteCacheSize="65536" -> WriteCacheSize="262144"
These are maximum settings, and all in coherrence with what the manual suggests for troubleshooting by the way: View attachment Meteor_manual.zip
THE SECOND PROBLEM with the HD 2 as a multitrack harddisc recorder, as with any DAW-system, is mainly the question of latency.
(for info on DAW, check this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_workstation)
Latency refers to how long the system (meaning processor, RAM, disc etc) is to actually process the sound converted (ADC), recorded, replayed & deconverted (DAC) again.
For the DAW to work properly (avoiding sync-issues between different recordings), it most know its own latency - hence the calibrating/strange beeps when running Meteor the first time.
Only thing is, that even though HD 2 is fast, it appears to have either a slow soundcard/ADC-DAC-converter or pourly written driversoftware to support it. Either way, at least on my phone, Meteor simply cannot deliver ENOUGH LATENCY, to compensate sync-issues, especially not with the above buffer and cachesettings set to maximum, not even with "Synchronize Audio Threads" under <setup> ticked (Which should be done by the way!).
There is a workaround though, but it requires you to know with what BPM (120 bpm being default) you are running during your current recording session and what latency will fit the current bpm you are running with.
The point is that you SIMPLY ADJUST the recording BACK according to your starting point of recording.
EXAMPLE:
You plan to record on track one at 120 bpm, so you set the cursor at the 1-figure at the ruler in the upperbar. you then set your latency under "setup\audio setup" to "940 ms".
Press record. When finished recording you highlight the recording and simply drag it 1-line back (NOT 1-bar, but 1/4 of a bar).
Repeat this for next recording on track 2 or any other, still keeping the 1-ruler as starting point, and you should have two recordings in perfect sync!
This should of course be repeated for every new recording...always dragging it 1-line back to keep sync.
You can test this yourself by the way, by turning on the metronome letting it play thru the HD 2's speakers, simultanously recording it. Drag the recording back, and when playedback, still with the metronome on, you should hear the recording and the metronome playing synchronized. If it is NOT in sync, you need to adjust latency, untill it is, testing with the metronome as above.
120 bpm = 940 ms latency works on my system, but I have no idea if it will work as a standard on all hd 2 phones. Problem is also, that when changing the bpm, you will also have to adjust latency. But assuming that there is some consistency thru this on most HD 2 (though rom and tweaks probably have a huge influence on this), i have here made a list of these values with what bpm = latency: View attachment Latency.zip
Quite complex instructions, hope this will help though. Welcome to ask for clarification, and I'll see if can answer accordingly
Have fun!

[APP][Update 2012/08/08] Money is time

Hi People,
I recently started writing apps for Android and I'm very curious what you think of my first app.
A little while ago I was eating a candy bar from the vending machine at work, and I was wondering how many minutes I actually had to work in order to be able to pay for that candy bar. At that moment, I came up with the idea to make an money to time converter.
Money Is Time
Features
Money to time conversion
Time to money conversion
User friendly interface by picker wheels
Supports money up to 99,999.99
Supports up to 24 currency signs like; $, £, € and ¥
Supports time up to about year
Supports both 24/7 scale or working hours
Stopwatch mode where time and money are incremented automatically.
Timer mode where time and money are decremented automatically.
Ability to set the wage per hour / day / week / month
Supports both portrait as landscape view.
Wake lock implemented

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Great idea! It would be cool if you could enter weekly or hourly wage information and if you could both swipe numbers to change them as well as tap on the selected numbers to enter them on a keypad.
Thanks for the QR code! makes it so easy to get the app
Thanks people for your feedback and positive comments so far!
At this moment I've received the following feature requests:
- Ability to fill-in weekly or hourly wage information.
- Ability to choose between swipe or just enter the numbers via the keypad.
- Ability to reset both money and time to zero with a button.
- Ability to set custom currencies.
I'm really gonna work on the items listed above and hope to upload an upgrade sometimes soon.
If there are more requests bugs or just sometime you want to share about this app, please let me know. I'm very curious what you think about this app!
@psycho_maniac: You're welcome, I really appreciate it when people want to help me improve my app. Posting a QR code is the least i could do
Really Creative
Wonderful app. I think if you can make the app run on its own according to a particular setting, will be a good idea. Just a thought.
Nice idea for an app
but have a bug. I run a screen density of between 180 and 200 and the app don't like this
screen shot was taken at 200 screen density.
Feature request:
It would be fun if you could set an amount, per hour/day/month/etc, whichever really, and start the timer. While the timer is ticking, you'd see the money wheel ticking live how much you make each second. And even if you exit the app and start it again a couple of hours later, the app remembers the time/date you exited it, reads the current time and adjusts the sum that you've made so far.

Hi
Thanks for finding this bug. It's very strange, because it looks like android can't decide what screen it is LDPI MDPI HDPI.
On which device and android version did you encounter this problem? My emulator with 200 DPI does show the app correctly.
Thanks a lot!

Options for the timer function
I'm currently busy updating my app with most of the requests I've received.
Version 2.0
I've released version 2.0 today and added the following requests:
- Ability to fill-in weekly or hourly wage information.
- Ability to reset both money and time to zero with a button.
- Ability to set custom currencies. (I've added 20 currency signs)
- Ability to run the app on its own.
I've also added a landscape view so it can be viewed in portrait and landscape instead of portrait alone. Besides adding landscape view I've paid extra attention to the layout to support as much resolutions as possible.
I hope you like the new version! Comments, bugs requests are still more than welcome!!
Version 2.1
I've released version 2.1 and added the following requests:
- Ability to fill-in daily or weekly wage information.
- Timer mode where money and time is automatically decremented.
- Support of HD phones and tablets.
Besides releasing the free 2.1 version I've released a paid version which has;
- No advertisements
- Ability to set a notification sound / vibrate when the timer reaches 0.
I hope you like the new versions! Comments, bugs requests are still more than welcome!!
Thanks
:good:You did listen to what we have to say. In my own book, that makes you a good developer. Thanks for the update.

[APP][2.2-3.2][Translation Help!] Plasma Sound - Theremin/Keyboard/Sequencer

I've been working on this app as a pet project for a while, but feel it's finally time to show it to the XDA community. It started out as a theremin app for me to use in my band, but later on I added full keyboard functionality, tons of effects/tones, the ability to save and load presets, and a sequencer. It's written using libPD and Processing, with a custom MSAFluid library for the fluid simulation (nowhere near as good as Fleya but mine is open source ) Also it has great support for honeycomb.

I completely agree. Most android devices are actually pretty good at audio generation (although Android's lag is pretty bad), but the built-in speakers don't do it justice at all.
Sounds like a cool app. Gonna check it out.
Cheers for this. I'm gonna check this out on my Vega when I get home from work.
this is great. I will give it try this weekend with my friends when we jam.
As a side note, why does Android tend to lag so much with these touch based instrument apps? It seems to be the same for all android phones.

It is very minimal. But, when you are playing along with other musicians you can't help but to notice the touch screen lag. When you hit a guitar string it rings out instantly. But with android touch screen instruments there is small delay. It is very minimal, but enough to screw with your head when trying to keep tempo. You end up sounding like you are barely off beat since you slightly miss the 'one' in the progression.
Maybe it is a Froyo API/driver problem?
Very cool!
Laggy but my phone's not the best... I'd love to play with it on a powerful tablet!

The problem is with the general overhead of the touch event system, as well as the scheduler. Android's java event system is on the slow side, just due to the general bulk. Android also doesn't have a 'realtime' mode that really makes music apps responsive.
It's a shame.

Give me feedback, feature requests, whatever. I'm 95% sure it's the best music app you can find this side of free (100%, no ads, etc), so most importantly; enjoy it.
-- I set everything up in this app to get translations working... but since I only know english (and not that well), I'm asking if anyone would be so kind as to help me translate it into any language they want! I just have an XML file of text in the app, labeled as what it does, to be translated. Please message me if you can help!! --

How about a Text to Speech file reader? It's build into most of the current roms using google's pico tts so really all you have to do is read the text file etc and push it through the api.
Once you have that in place you can start integrating tts to some of your existing apps. Read the wikipedia entry to you...etc.

Road Recorder is an application dedicated for all drivers. It allows you to record the distance travelled from a window of the vehicle and play recorded movie marking it on the map. With a sequential recording, you can record the distance without wasting space on the memory card. The application is very useful in case of fender-bender, car accident or any other weird occurrence on the road, because in addiction to the usual video recording, our location, speed, date will also registered.
FEATURES:
- sequential video recording of defined recording time
- ability to register your GPS position, speed and date
- recording even for the last 3 files per session
- background recordings
- deleting records from the application
- playback recorded material with the localization on the map,
- the widget to quickly start recording,
- warnings about finishing space on the memory card and low battery.
- collision-free operation with each navigation
- export coordinates to KML or GPX files
- auto-deleting old files (very configurable)
ADDITIONALLY IN PRO VERSION:
- no ads
- full support for events (sending and receiving from apps like Tasker)
- recording an infinite number of files in one session
- the ability to set an infinite length of the file
- selecting the target file names
- the ability to send video file with coordinates (Dropbox, e-mail, etc.)
- more features

Generally I don't support any CM, but it works on some of them.
It will be great if you try and give me info.
I added Russian language and fixed minor bugs.
I'm waiting for feedback.

Updated first post.
Very useful app. If you could also add proximity alarm, it would be a blast.
What is the video tool you use, if you don't mind? The promo video looks so professional.

Thanks for the video info will check it out. By proximity I mean if a car is getting too close in the front for instance, detect and warn the driver with audio perhaps.

Very impressed with your app sir and have purchased pro edition. I'm running this on my Sprint note 4 (snapdragon cpu) stock rooted 5.1.1 having tested three other apps all of which caused serious heating issues of the phone. I DO NOT have the phone overheating issue using your app, my phone does get hot but no where near the "to hot to hold" as with the other apps.
Next stop is the play store and 5 star rating. Keep up the good work.
