Hi all
Just brand new with this tablet ( TF300TG running android 4.2.1, unlocked, rooted,TWRP on board )
I was wondering if, in the standard stock rom , there was a possibility to move apps and/or data to an external Sd using some specific apps ?
( what i'm currently doing on my Samsung GSII...with apps such A2SD...).
no short term plan to move to a custom rom
return info greatly appreciated and thks in advance

If you are rooted, you can use FolderMount to move the downloaded files to the external SD card. But as far as Apps2Sd you need a custom ROM and i believe a custom Kernel.
@elesbb
Thks for yr tips...
i've tried it but looks like i have some problems...always got message unknown error whatever the app I'm trying to move !!!
I've tried GLtoSd which workd fine immediately..but i keep investigating why I can't use Folder Mount...Probably i misunderstanding from my side !!!
Thks any way for yr answer

Hi all,
I am a noob, first post. I purchased my XOOM (WiFi version) one week ago. I was led to believe it was stock (it is 2 mo. old) and have discovered that it has been rooted and modded. Here is the Device Info:
Android Version 3.2
Kernel Version 2.6.36.4-Tiamat_Xoom-v2.1.0-Tachi-StockGPU-gcef3887
It did not come with an SD card. I purchased one today (16gb). Are there critical files missing that were on the original sd card?! Thanx in advance.
To further clarify; if I wish to factory reset the device, are there files that I will need on the sd card other than a current backup?
the stock xoom didnt come with an sd card. it didnt even support it initally. hitting the restore to default button will not remove your root.

What exactly do you want to do with your Xoom? It is great to already be rooted and that Tachi kernel is a big improvement over stock. Do you just want to clean out the previous owners stuff and make it more yours? Or do you want to go back to a pure stock state?
That is a good question. I guess my main concern is that I am able to mod my device without any problems that the previous owner may have caused by removing critical files on the SD card. I'm a little paranoid as I am just beginning to learn.
I discovered a clockworkmod recovery file "recovery-clockwork-4.0.0.4-stingray.img" in the internal memory. I don't understand what that file is. Is this a stock recovery file?

ClockworkMod recovery is a custom recovery. It is installed when rooting and is a great improvement over the stock recovery because it allows you to make a complete system image so you can experiment with new rom or kernel and always be able to restore to a previous state if you're dissatisfied or if something goes wrong. Also, with the right version you can save files to your external micro sdcard [you purchase it.it does not come with the Xoom] and flash them through your CWM recovery menu. However, version 4.0.0.4, the one you have installed, doesn't recognize the external sdcard. You will need to install version 3.2.0.0 R4c.
Thanks for the info, I will install version 3.2.0.0 R4c. Looks like the previous owner saved me some work.
First off let me thank everyone who is going to help me through my issue.
Everything started yesterday when I got a16 gigabytes new SD Micro card. I originally got the card so I can move my applications from the internal 16 gigabytes storage to that SD Micro card . After searching through the web I have realized that I cannot move my applications to the external memory until I root my device and so I did it using a guide from this website. after rooting my device I downloaded every application in play store that is used to move applications from the internal memory to the external one.And for some reason all of them failed'Someof them said that there is no enough memory. and some others said I have no External memory inserted "already checked in settings and it says external memory 14.98 Gb free. After that i read another guide which Said I should get Rom manager to partition my memory card.and I did download the Rom manager . I tried to partition but it said I don't have CWM , and it asked ifit should install it so I accepted. mydevice wasn't listed. I chose a random one and now I'm afraid I have broken my 3 days old note 10.1 . Could anyone help me please with
1. The Sd micro card issue(apps From internal memory't external memory.)
2. The random CWM device that I have downloaded and maybe installed.
3. Partitioning my card (if that's going to help.)
4. I'm new to android and have no idea what rooting is "although I did it anyways" and how I Can use rooting
Rooted note 10.1
Thank you again <3
Edit 1- 8 views no help? Id really appreciate it if anyone could help me.
I think some sort of reply will help you get started...
Note 10.1 only supports FAT 32. not NTFS. So you have to format your SDcard properly to begin with. I believe its true, you need to root your device to get AppOnSD support.
NEVER flash anything that is not intended SPECIFIC for your device. Always do a backup so you can restore it from an image if you happen to soft brick it.
Rooting pretty much allows you to get "super user" functionality. Most notably the ability to access system files.

I'll try to help with fixing your Note.
Can you get into download mode? Start with power off and press volume down and power at the same time.
If so download Check Fus (GGI version) from fus.nanzen.se and make you have Odin and the Samsung drivers as described in the how to root thread.
Check the back of your Note for version number; N8000, N8010 or N8013. Use Check Fus to download the correct rom for your country. If not the nearest one.
Follow the how to root guide (sticky in development) that explains how to install the rom. This should put you back where you started. Now, read a lot. Don't use Rom Manager.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-10-1-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-10-1/ How to root instructions. Your replacing the rom from the instructions with the one you downloaded from Check Fus.

Yes bro, I'm using it now.
So, when you say you've broken your Note, what's broken?

I said I think I broke my note because I downloaded and installed a random cmw from Rom manager when I tried partition my sd card .
And I have a problem moving apps to the sd card. In app2sd it says it's emulated andin droids it says memory is full.
Then I'll back out. I've no experience of apps2sd on the Note. Have had no cause to use it. I strongly suggest you read a lot more before you attempt anything else involving door, partitions or CWM.

to root, youhave two ways, you can do with CF Auto root:
1)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957160
you will lose temporarily the warranty, you can restore your warranty with Triangle away.
2)you can flash a pre-rooted room, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885878
thanks alot ..
i will do root like you say but one last question :
how that (TriangleAway ) will get back warranty to tablet while the tablet still root !! ??i don't understand job of this !
if i need to take tablet to samsung service center ..they wont know if i root the tablet ?!
please explain to me ..
thanks forward

see the first page, you will get detailed info for triangle away, I have rooted my tab trough a pre rooted rom, if I need to restore the warranty I will use triangle away to reset the flash counter and then flash the tab with original rom, the original ROM don't increase flash counter..
what app you will use to move the data of you applications?
edit: i have made a research and i think it's not possible move the applications since android have as removed this feature
. it's possible swap the internal memory with the extern memory but is risky
go there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137606 and put your question to the OP

It only swaps your emulated external(internal sdcard 0) and external, not your system, so its not really risky. I use it whenever I'm not on a cm 10.1 based ROMs. Just follow the directions, and all should be well.

Oh i figured the link was to the swap script, anyways there is a script on here that will swap your internal sdcard( none of your system stuff) and your external. I'm on my way out or i would find the link.

Hi
I wanted to ask something about Rooting but couldn't find specific section for it or if there is, i am sorry i couldn't locate it. I apologize for it.
I have a Huawei Ascend G610-U20 with Android 4.2.1. The internal memory is 4GB but only 1.86GB is useable (on format). I am using Stock ROM.
I have some applications which are installed in phone memory (sdcard 0, not external sdcard). For example Facebook and by default it doesn't have the option of shifting to SD card, that option is turned off. Similarly this is off for Mix Cloud app. There are so many other apps as well. I use Dodol launcher and all it's themes are on phone memory and cannot be migrated to external SD card.
I found this thread of making SD card as default location for installation. I didn't do it being afraid to make any disastrous changes to my phone.
Then i got to know about rooting and i was again afraid of bricking my phone. This is why i am asking it here. I had previously another Android phone and i rooted it and then it started some problems mainly software clashes. e.g. when viber is being used and a phone call comes, phone restarted. I thought of at least considered that time that this is due to rooting.
My sole purpose of doing any of above method is, to be able to migrate those apps to external SD card which are by default not able to be migrated in stock ROM. Else than this i am not much advanced user and nor do i want to go further deeper.
What you recommend and what is the best way to do.
Just a point to mention, in case of using that 1st method of Android ADB method, i think it would need me to format the phone and then reinstall the apps. Am i right?
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.
So I have a Z3 Dual D6633 and I love it to death, upgraded to Lollipop (not rooted) when I heard there was going to be a move to SD card function. Oh boy was I wrong, it doesn't move to your external SD card but your internal SD card which literally sucks. Anyways,
I'm following this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6603-5-0-2-flashable-stock-23-1-0-690-t3056361
and as far as I know, I need to root, flash and all that good stuff when it's in Kitkat then upgrade to Lollipop by a Flash and pre-rooted Lollipop. Now the question I have is very simple.
My phone is a Z3 D6633 bought from Hong Kong. I want the language Japanese on it (I'm Japanese) but I recently moved to Sweden and use their SIM-card. So far, I can only find the RU version of a pre-rooted Lollipop. Does it matter what kind of pre-rooted Lollipop I get? Will I be able to make normal phone calls, SMS, MMS and all the normal functions just + with rooting. Also, if there's a way to move apps, games, movies or photos while functioning to my External SD card without actually rooting the device, please teach me how.
Regards,
P.S. I was going to follow this post for upgrade:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6603-5-0-2-flashable-stock-23-1-0-690-t3056361
What is it exactly you want to do?

As far as I know the version of pre-rooted lollipop is irrelevant to being able to send messages and stuff.

Currently without root there are very few apps capable of doing this, supposedly FileKommander is one of them.
Just simply want to root my phone but since there are only Russian and UK Lollipop's (that I could find). I'm wondering if it'll be stuck in that language and so on. I have File Commander on my device but I never tried using it. I guess there was no simple "Move app to SD" function so I guess I will have to move the entire folder and see if I can still run the app then. I do not want to have to root my phone just because I can't move apps to my External SD if possible.

There is also a Baltic Generic, and other versions. Look harder.
