Hey all, I was just wondering is it possible to buy a coloured backplate for my Xoom? I find the standard one quite boring and would like to change it!
Thanks in advance.
You can buy skins not sure about backplates, but their easy enough to paint

Thanks a lot for your answer but I was hoping for something a little bit easier to do I don't have any experience doing it and I don't feel like trying on my beloved Xoom
I would be really grateful for a link to a replacement part.
Many thanks
Ive no idea if you can get replacements, maybe direct from motorola i dont know but if you find anywhere report back would be handy to know

Try cellular nationwide network. I've bought parts for my blackberry and other phones in the past. Was even thinking of this for my Xoom.

So I like a idiot was standing next to a pool and dropped my phone in when I pulled it out of my pocket (the phone is a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket) and needless to say, the phone is screwed. I was wondering if the SIM card is going to be dead, too? I'm going to order a Nexus 4 to replace the Skyrocket.
It definitely has a much better chance of surviving than a phone. I left a sim in my pocket once when I washed my pants and it was fine.
Also, if you want a cheap piece of crap with no support, by all means, buy the Chinese knockoff phone. If you want a premium phone with a vibrant development community and ROM updates straight from Google, stick with your Nexus 4 plan. Choice seems obvious to me

Thanks! And yeah I think I'll stick with the Nexus 4 and not the Chinese knockoff the other guy posted
I guess I have to get a new SIM anyways since the N4 takes a Micro and I think my Skyrocket used a normal sized one.
Mine did, in a similar setting. (the difference being I didn't drop it, someone else threw it into the pool.) admittedly it was a backup phone and got fried, but the sim was fine.
Just let it dry out completely at room temperature.

The SIM card will be fine.
To be honest though, your phone might be fine as well, check some guides on salvaging a dunked phone...

Thanks for the replies guys.
Guess it doesn't really matter tbh since the phone requires a micro SD and I have a normal sized one.
You can still cut your SIM and make it a micro SIM (the one the N4 needs)
There are some tutorials on youtube
2 of my friends cut it theirselves and it works fine

Well, in theory it shouldn't, because metallic contacts of the SIM should short circuit. But it often keeps working. I drop mine in a puddle and it had no problems.
I dropped mine in a glass of beer and when i got sober, it worked just fine
Just make sure it's completely dry before testing. And don't artificially dry with hair dryer, etc. As over heating might damage.

I'd like to thank you instead! This is XDA, no one forces anyone to do anything on here. The OP of this post made his own choice of opening up his phone and drilling the holes.
Many people have done the same mod and no one else is facing the same problem. It could well be the OP drilled a little bit too hard which makes sense considering the screen is showing signs of damage.
OP: I was looking for spare speaker parts myself but have not seen any yet ( UK ).
Can you take a picture of the damage?

no, from what I'm seeing it looks like there may be something under the back cover which is causing pressure on the display. that does not look like light separation.
Take it back apart and see what you see.

This is what you should have started this thread with. You already know what caused the issue, and you're trying to get a free replacement on the phone by using Fraud.
I realize this is going to come across as offensive, but you were dumb enough to sit on your phone and now you're dumb enough to try to get XDA to help you attempt fraud against Google so you don't have to pay the money to get it fixed. Read the forum rules about illegal activity.

It's probably only visible on a dark screen because those are the areas where the actual display are under stress from the phone being bent. It won't necessarily make it BRIGHTER.... just more easily noticed. Kind of like if you touch your computer monitor. touch the screen where it's lighter, and you don't really notice much of anything. touch where it's darker, and you'll more easily see the distortion.
I am getting an Alltel S III tomorrow that will work on the Verizon network, and I actually have 2 questions. I have a broken verizon s3 that I used a while back until I broke it, that's rooted, unlocked, and with a custom ROM. Can I pull the motherboard out of that phone and put it in the new one? And what root method would I follow to root the alltel version? Is it the same as Verizon? I'm hoping I can just swap mother boards and go. Thanks guys!

If you swap the mainboard, then your Alltel S3 will be the broken one.
I got the Alltel s3 today, and I pulled off the back cover and saw that there was no sim slot. So I did the motherboard switch, and activated my sim card(I'm coming from the moto droid mini which takes a nano sim) and bam came up with signal and everything. Everything functions as it should.

I still don't buy it. You took a mainboard from a bricked S3 and put that into your new Alltel S3 and everything works??

One more question why buy an alltell S3 instead of a vzw S3. If he still gonna use it on vzw network.

I'm going to guess he got it for a great price.
Noooo lol I didn't brick my old s3, all I did was broke the glass and lcd display. Upon getting the alltel s3(on 4.3) I noticed it did not have a sim slot, so I went ahead with the motherboard swap. After installing my motherboard from my broken s3, I used had to use the MB cover from my old one because it had a cut out for the sim slot. Then I powered it on and presto. I basically just did a conplete screen replacement. Whenever you break a screen and have to have it replaced, they just pull your motherboard and put it basically into a new phone and it won't matter the branding. You'll have the Verizon guts on the inside. I'm sorry about the confusion guys, I should have explained a little better.

OK, that makes sense since you only broke the digitizer...usually people just get another screen and pop it on. Everything would stay original, but got to give you credit for replacing the mainboard. You do have some skill there!

You inspired me to open up my gs3 take the motherboard out and rip off my power button. You are right that was way to easy and now I can reboot! The bad part is I need to be plugged in to turn it on by entering download mode then decline instead of accept. I might solder a new switch some day but this is good enough for now. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do that!

The Galaxy S III is the only phone I have done this on, so keep this in mind. But yes it was super easy. It was a lot less stressful than rooting and unlocking a device for the first time. Got the case now.
For me it is fantastic.. The attention to detail on the cutouts is great. They really looked at the phone lines and respected them
I can understand some might feel it makes the phone feel less premium, but for me it is the opposite. The slightly granular texture works great (feels secure) and I like the tint the black semi transparent gives my pink phone
This one I think will be my main case now
(Just need to sorry out the best screen protector option now
Also...
The FrostCover does work in the DK32 cradle without mods.
When using the 32B tray insert.
It is a tight fit (not just a 'drop it in',. you need a little bit of a wiggle).. but no mods needed
Cool
I'd buy one if not for the price and cut out for the XPERIA logo.
