[Q] Motorola Xoom Backplate - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I was just wondering is it possible to buy a coloured backplate for my Xoom? I find the standard one quite boring and would like to change it!
Thanks in advance.

You can buy skins not sure about backplates, but their easy enough to paint

Thanks a lot for your answer but I was hoping for something a little bit easier to do I don't have any experience doing it and I don't feel like trying on my beloved Xoom
I would be really grateful for a link to a replacement part.

Thanks a lot, I'll have a try

Try cellular nationwide network. I've bought parts for my blackberry and other phones in the past. Was even thinking of this for my Xoom.

Neoprene Pouch/Sleeve for G2X?

Hey guys, figured id ask here since XDA rocks and im having no luck looking for it thru Google.....basically im looking for a Neoprene Pouch like the one given with the Tmobile G1, and the Nexus One but one that actually fits the G2X! If u guys know of one, please let me know, if not, thanks for taking the time to read this post! Thanks!
I'm looking for one myself since I shelved the Nexus One for now. Not digging any case or skinz on the market. The pouch work good since it just slides in your pocket and prevent any dust/lint from entering the phone.

That looks like the Nexus One pouch.
I do use my Nexus One pouch with my G2X. It stretches it just a little bit but not worryingly so.
Google Mofi Kangaroo pouch for G2x. A lot of people seemed to like it.

Do us a solid, and let us know how it fits!
Please!
I ordered the one from eBay as well.
It fits ... ok. Not as tight as I'd like it but I'd not call it loose either. Cheaply constructed though. I've had it about two weeks now and the stitching is already coming undone. I'd like to find a higher quality neoprene sleeve.
Would you be willing to post a few pictures?
Thanks!
i never received any pouch with my g1? i'm still using the same exact pouch i got with my sidekick 2 six years ago
some more pics would be great!
Here is a pic, it fits very snug...I was worried about it not fitting but that's not the case! My only gripe is the material is not near the same as the nexus ones/g1 but it does the trick and is sexy!
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
Sorry, I don't have another camera handy to take pics w/the phone in. This at least should give you an idea of the stitching.
Thanks for the pictures!
So...
All in all... Is it worth 3 bucks... ha?

I've had the same one for months. Definitely worth it.
Heh, yeah, it's worth $3. Particularly since there really isn't anything else available.

Amazon? They're trustworthy. It'd be easier and cheaper. They have free 7 day shipping or something... Depending on your order.
Yeah man go with amazon. I just ordered some new earphones (same as stock ones) for like four bucks. I bet there's a usb cable for around that price if not lower. And they're trustworthy.

Search on ebay for the i9000 battery door. They'll have it in black or white. As far as I know, the battery door for the i9000 is the same as the Galaxy S 4g (and the Vibrant). ^_^

You should've filed a claim for that on Ebay. Anyways, not the place to talk about that, so I won't linger on that point, lol.
As for you battery door, you could try to paint it yourself. Look for a bottle of Tamiya Pearl White spray paint. It's not cheap compared to what you can get locally, but it looks pretty damn good! You might need to prime the cover too. Be sure to topcoat as well, or else the paint will just chip off!
Holy moly. 20 dollars ?!?!

You could see if hobby stores have them. Do a quick google search. I'll write more about it when I'm home, since it's kinda inconvenient to search on my phone and type a response, lol.
I only suggest Tamiya because I build plastic robot models for a hobby. It's a well known brand of paint and is safe on plastic. If you could find another cheaper brand, by all means, use that one. I'm sure that any quality paint will be great, as long as it's applied with the proper technique.
I think the cans itself aren't expensive ($4-5), but it's the shipping that kills (Tamiya is a Japanese brand).
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Oh wow, turns out Amazon has it!
http://www.amazon.com/PS-57-Pearl-White-100ml-Spray/dp/B002O4BR2U
For how to use it, you should YouTube videos on how to spray properly. In a nutshell, just spray in short little bursts and keep coats light. If you just spray too much, the paint will accumulate and you'll just get a big mess. In the event you do mess up, you can fix it up either by (1)soaking it in thinner to remove the paint or (2)use sandpaper to sand off the paint.
Let me know if you have any more questions in regards to painting(through PM or whatever).
Good luck!

Screen replacement

Hello xda community!
With an unfortunate drop from my high up bed, my g2x's screen cracked.
Thankfully the entire screen still works just fine.
My question is, does anyone know where I should go to have my screen replaced? Or if anyone knows a good way to replace the screen?
Any help and suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Well if you have the time and the skill. Do it yourself. Fleabay has them for $50..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-LG-P999-Optimus-2X-Star-NEW-/170671183951
I have replaced a few smartphone digitizers now and it is not that hard. Just watch a youtube video and get the right tools on amazon for cheap. I would say the skill level is 6/10.
or you could pay double that for a company to do it for you and be without a phone for a week or two...
I have a dugutuzer for sale. Brand new. Its not hard at all. Took me 20 minutes. Pm me if you want it. Ill even send you the tools needed.

In my area, if you look at Craigslist, there are so many people that offer cellphone repair services. Try Craigslist.
Amazon sells a replacement kit for about 60 dollars it has the tools and screen. I did it in under 20 min.
Just search Amazon buddy and then search YouTube for a video on how to take it apary

The only problem I have with doing it myself, is that I have tried replacing the screen on my old mt3g slide and ended up screwing up my phone, and had to throw it away.
After that, I don't feel safe doing it.

Thankfully I found this thread and went the Amazon route as well - $54 and about 30 mins of prying a few stubborn glass shards off the frame later my g2x is working flawlessly.
I'd even go so far as to say this new digitizer is a little more responsive than the original one!

Haha I know how you feel with the mt3g slide. That one is impossible because one of the slidescrews got stripped for me. Thankfully I had drill bits handy. I just replaced my aunts g2x last Monday and it is easy if you buy the digitizer with the bezel, that way you don't have to worry about prying the glass. Difficulty is like 5/10. All you have to do is take your time. If a 17 y/o can do it, so can you

I just bought one of these for about 23 dollars same seller. I replaced it but the digitizer does not work as good as the original. It is not as accurate to the touch and hardly works at all with a screen protector on it. If I had to do it over I would get the one mounted to the frame. It worked like the original.

[Q] Wanting to replace black housing

I have the black skyrocket and I would like to change the housing to white. I would even consider another color. Has anyone found a site or know where I can get the housing pieces? I know that I will have to replace the front screen due to the border being black on mine.
Any help would be great. Thanks!!
You're gonna end up spending more on those pieces than you did for the phone.
the complete front panel with screen is $220. that's more then the phone its self if you got it on contract.

I did find a few site that had them and I have also come to the same conclusion that you guys pointed out. It will cost me more to place everything to make it white. I will just have too stay black or find one on ebay that the insides have crapped out.
Thanks again guys.

Aside from the "why did you get a black one, if you wanted a white one" question
Have you thought about just selling yours on ebay (or similar) and just getting a white phone? Like just about everything else, if you price the parts individually... It always costs more than buying the finished product. I guess White Out wouldn't cut it?

In the short time I had my SGS2, I read this tutorial on taking the outside housing off and sanding it down to give it a matte finish. I'm sure something like that can be applied to the Skyrocket, since it's nearly the same design. Take off the housing, paint it white, and replace it. The screen wouldn't be white, but maybe it looks good like that.
