MMS to Verizon user not sending? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I ran into a bit of a problem when I tried to send an MMS message to a friend who is on Verizon. It failed and I got an error message saying that I either have insufficient funds or the it couldn't be delivered due to MMS blocking (in the screenshot attached). Asked my friend and she said she didn't do anything of the blocking sort. I'm on the T-Mobile $30/month prepaid plan, and I already paid this month's dues. Everything else works fine (SMS/data/calling). I even sent an MMS to myself and it worked fine as well.
Any ideas as to why this error is happening? Stock 4.4.2, no root, and the latest version of Hangouts.

[Q] Not able to Send or Receive Text

For some reason I stopped being able to send or receive messages since yesterday. The message sends out and there is no errors but the person does not receive the text. If someone send the text to me I don't receive the text either.
On the AT&T usage data says I did not use any of my unlimited text message plan.
I did recently change my messaging plan from a family unlimited messaging to individual.
My SMS center number is +13123149810
APN is set to default
I am currently on 2.11.26 ICS MIUI build
Any idea what the problem is? Phone problem? AT&T's problem?
Update: Called AT&T they somehow fixed the problem

[Q] Outbound SMS Text messages not working?

hey xda,
Just picked up an ATT HOX and noticed outbound texts don't seem to working.
I know there is a report for inbound text message notifications, but this one seems to be new.
Anybody else seeing similar issues? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I am having a problem where about 20% of my MMS messages don't go through.. I have to go into the sms app and click resend and then they go through.
When I picked up the phone I had the same problem. I had to change from the non-LTE data plan to the LTE plan when I activated the phone. When I called tech support after realizing I wasnt getting messages it took her about 20 minutes of trying different things to ask if I had text messaging in my plan. I said of course, and she said it was not shown in my current services. After putting that back on the plan, it worked like a charm. Not sure why it got dropped when nothing else was to be changed on my plan. You might want to double check your plan.
Hrm... thanks for the replies! I'll look into those suggestions.
Right now the phone can receive, just not send SMS. It's supposed to have a text plan, but i'll verify that with ATT.
Even if it didn't have a text plan though, isn't ATT's default behavior to still send the text message and charge the ad hoc rate per message?

[Q] Strange issue with MMS from Aio to Straight Talk.

Hi all..
I'm just kind of taking a shot in the dark here but I've been having an odd problem that has very specific conditions, so here goes..
I am on Aio wireless using a Samsung i9500 with Kitkat. Most of my family are all on StraightTalk wireless.
The problem I have is that my 2 favorite SMS apps seem to somehow have issues getting StraightTalk to download MMS messages I send.
My family members using StraightTalk are able to send MMS messages to me regardless of which texting app they or I use, however, they do not receive my MMS messages if I use the app Textra, or HoverChat to send the MMS. I do not get a failure to send message, the recipients phone just acts as if I have not sent them anything. The thing is, these same 2 apps can send MMS to Verizon customers perfectly fine (I have tested with 2 friends). I know it has to be a problem with these apps as the very same recipients DO get my MMS from the following other apps:
GoSMS
Handcent
Chomp
EvolveSMS
Hello SMS
Sliding SMS
and the default messaging app that came on my phone.
My problem is this.. I have emailed the developers of both apps and tried to explain this but they can't seem to see that there is a problem. (the Textra app dev got me to send a log and the log showed my MMS successfully sending to Aio's MMSC) What I am wondering is, is there anyone else that has Aio wireless and knows someone using StraightTalk that can see if the same issue happens to you? Or does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be and how I can better explain to the developers of these 2 apps so that they may be able to find and fix the issue? I have no idea why StraightTalk would reject an MMS ONLY from a specific app and carrier combination but it is absolutely maddening.
Could these 2 apps be appending some sort of tag or invalid data on the MMS that causes StraightTalk to ignore it and never send the download request to the recipient?
Any help would be appreciated.

MMS Stopped working two days ago

A few bits of information to start.
- I have been on the same ROM and same settings for over a year (including APN)
- I use ChompSMS, but have uninstalled it as part of testing
- I have tested both on and off of WiFI
- I am on StraightTalk
- I used a different APN than what they have on their site, and when this started, I updated to the one they list there now, but the problem remained the same on both options.
Now, my problem, for the past two days, any MMS (I believe based on past history that these are group conversations, not individual MMS messages), are not downloading. Using the built in Messanger application I get an error that it cannot download the message. With ChompSMS, installed, I get the message that it cannot download MMS and to check my APN settings. I tested sending myself an image MMS, and that both sent and got received. Other than that test, I've got nothing the past two days other than that error from Chomp (or nothing from the built in) at the rate of 4-5 times every 30 minutes (the approx rate I'd normally get a message in a group text).
What I have left to try:
- I'm using SMS Backup & Restore to backup my SMS/MMS and then I'm going to wipe out the database and restore my messages
However, anyone have any other ideas what might be wrong or what I can do to fix this?

Do you happen to use PushBullet? If so, uncheck "SMS sync" and reboot. That always causes issues for me.

Unfortunately no. I don't have anything that could have caused this. Since Saturday, I've only updated "Reddit is fun golden platinum", "dolphin browser", and "power toggles" (installed, but never run).
The above was on Sunday
The problem began on Tuesday afternoon.
Prior to that, it was working.

Well I thought I'd ask. That's the only thing that has ever broke MMS for me.

Apparantly I'm not the only straight talk user that has this issue.
Don't know what it is though :\

I'm assuming it is something with Marshmallow and Cricket causing the issue. My Nexus 5 on Cricket won't receive MMS if WiFi is on. If I leave WiFi off, I can receive and send MMS fine. My wife has a Moto X on Lollipop on Cricket and can receive MMS fine with WiFi on.
My situation was very similar to yours in that MMS was working fine for weeks after I upgraded to 6.0. It then just stopped randomly. I still have not found a work around other than disabling WiFi.

That's not the same issue.
This is an issue affecting all (most) of straight talk, and has nothing to do with the phone or the setting.
Wifi on/off doesn't have an effect.
So, it's not a phone issue, just a Straight Talk one.

This is my exact life, please let me know if you figure it out better. I do think Pushbullet was screwing me up too, even just having it installed without SMS sync.
MMS always downloaded fine with Pushbullet installed, but since upgrading to Marshmallow, I haven't been able to download a single MMS on my N5. I'm on T-Mobile, not Straight Talk.
Are you sure it's not related to the more-widespread issue of MMS not working with WiFi on?
EDIT: See here.
Actually having this problem on mine as well now (AT&T). Had auto updates off. Nothing changed to my knowledge. Just not downloading some MMS' in Google Messenger. Some it will download. Standard txt's seem fine? Have a group of about 4 under a user category (this is usually where various threads/contacts are shown in Messenger) "message not found". Then under known contacts, I had 4 labeled as "couldn't download" - "touch to download" - which upon touching, state "downloading"... which at some point fails (like, lots longer later - 10 minutes +, and states the msg size is 709KB?)
Also, just noted the "more-widespread issue of MMS not working with WiFi on". Will investigate this possibility.
edit: my wifi has been off. So, not a culprit with my particular problem.
Yup, standard SMS works, but the only way I can get MMS to work in any client is to cycle WiFi and reboot. It's an enormous bug.

MMS sending issues on T-Mobile

Is there a trick to getting MMS picture messages to send from this phone when used on the T-Mobile network? My friend bought the version of the phone from Amazon and updated the APN settings according to https://apn.gishan.net/settings/877_12_t-mobile_apn_settings_for_huawei_honor_6x.php but still is unable to send picture messages to me (I'm on AT&T and Google Voice). They look like they send from her end, but I never get them or any indication that there was an attempted MMS sent. Any thoughts?
