Is it me or anyone else experiencing 4hr charge time and poor battery life (compared to 4.4 running Dalvik) while running 4.4.2 with ART enabled?
My battery charges in a couple of hours and my battery lasts about 3 or 4 hours screen on and until I go to bed. Is that good or am I experiencing it? I changed to ART my first day getting the phone.

My charge time seems normal and battery life is normal but i'm also using Franco kernel instead of the stock 4.4.2 kernel.

Im using Viper 2.4.0 with elementz 3.1. The battery life i am getting is 12 hours standby and 3 hour screen on time with 75% of the battery being used by the screen. Is this good battery life? When i was on cleanRom with elementz 3.0, i got 14.5 hours standby and 4.5 hours screen time with 75% of the battery being used by the screen. Im starting to think its the Rom thats using the battery. The only reason i am using a sense rom is because i heard the battery life was far better.
LoL your complaining about 12 hours of battery?

Hello, I am posting this topic because I am afraid to switch back to ics for sense. Can anyone confirm this for those who wonder the same thing?
Depends on which version of sense you are talking about. Sense 3.6 gives me better battery life than any other. On aosp i get about 10-13 hours of battery. Sense 4.0/4.1 i get about 5-9 hours. On sense 3.6 i get about 15-20 hours. This is all on moderate use. I have an anker 1900mAh battery.
Stock Sensation battery, 4.1 sense, 24-26 hours, 2-4 hour screen on time. As you see, it depends on so many things what battery life you will get. The best is if you tried by yourself. Battery life can be rom/kernel/usage...etc related. Go and give them a try I would suggest.
AOSP
In my experience aosp ROMS have had better battery life especially ones that were based ones sense like 'virtuous inquisition' sadly its not been up dated for like a year now and ive used it as a daily driver for months with 0 issues, but if you like the sense look just use ARHD 6.8 (sense 3.6) for awesome battery life and if you use faux123 kernal and under volt it you can pull out two days without having to charge
I'm a power user who requires speed and stability. Running bruces CM10 as a daily driver with Tamcore's kernel with badass 192-1566mhz with battery saving settings flashed. I get 4 hours minimum onscreen a day with 512mb hardswap.

Rom is this?
[ROM][CM10][Kang][Pyramid][4.1.2][04 Oct]
Tamcore Kernel is the default kernel or must be downloaded separately?
Thank you.

Hey when can a the Tamcore kernel to download? oh can it be flashed through recovery?
Sultanxda 4.4.2 ION Rom I get about 12 hours with 3-4 hours of screen time, and constantly checking my phone for emails, Google Voice messages, and about 30 minutes of talk time. Not great since I have to charge it at least once a day. But if I decrease my screen time to 1-2 hours, then it can last about 16 hours.

Have you try changing battery? Maybe your battery has gone bad. I recently changed my Anker to another Anker after two years and five months of use. The new Anker helped stabilize battery drainage and time.

Hi all. I purchased a nexus S recently, second hand. It had a 4.1.1 stock JB installed. The battery life was horrible, i hardly managed 5 hours with less than 2 hours of screen time. I changed the rom to CM 10.1.3 stable, although i do know that CM roms are battery hungry yet battery remained about the same as before. Thinking maybe the battery was faulty, i got a new one. It seems slightly better but still i am managing only 2 hours screen time with Cm10.1.3 and a matrix kernel. Plus, the charging is SUPER SLOW. Takes more than 4 hours to reach 100% charge. Is that normal? Kindly any suggestions would be appreciated.
maybe is battery problem ..change it
Battery problem is common issues in nexus S..I am hardly get 2 hr + screen on time..

Hello!
I have my n5 4 days now and I have to say that is an amazing smartphone. The battery life is good for me (3hr45 mins - 4hr15mins SOT) . I noticed though that after a full charge the first 5-10% of battery (90%-100%) drains very fast without any use.. Why is that? Is gonna be better? Has anyone else noticed that?
Thanks in advance

You'll have to get Better Battery Stats to see what's going on.

To reword what has already been said, install "BetterBattery Stats" app
to increase the battery life I have turned off all GPS connections and removed applications that do not use.

Anyone encountered battery draining after updated to KitKat XXUENA6 via software update

Think it just needs a couple of battery cycles to even itself out.

I'm getting some decent battery life - about 20% more per day, for my average usage (ending the day around 65%), than stock (rooted). I'm running Omega v7.1.
As suggested, give it a few cycles.

yes, I have,
I found it's because the EMail sync, if I disabled mail sync battery life is better.
I have problem with my android system, it's drain more battery than my screen on.
I just installed BBS, Gsam Battery Monitor, and Watchdog but I can't get the infromation what did android system do with my battery
Anyone can help me ?
Since 4.4.2, leaving my phone overnight would drain 0% battery (or sometimes, very rarely, 1%).
I'm using Greenify (I Greenify everything except WhatsApp and Nova Launcher) and on a typical school day I can end up with between 50%-60% of battery.
The more draining things I disabled include Google's location reporting service and always-on WiFi scanning. Perhaps you may check
Battery life is really bad , not as good as it used to be , certainly not as good as my Stock Note 2 was!!!!!!!... please any suggestions?
Nothing works, tried all the tips around here (except for rooting), before kitkat (on jelly bean mj7) I used to have that annoying android os bug, when I received kitkat, the bug was resolved but got replaced by another unexplaicable drain by "android system" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" android system " and " media " drain are too Damn high... 2 hard resets didn't even help at all.... And I'm on the gsm only mode with gps off all the time.......
I'm really getting fed up with Samsung and their crap software , this is my third note device and the most buggy one... and it's really getting ridiculous ...
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Cheers.
All in necessary bloatware disabled. Sync on. Olways with wifi in home or 3g out. Locations disabled. Amazing battery life .

mine is at 20 %. screen at 18 % haha . still got 4 hours of on screen time with H+ on all the time , autosync , and semi debloated ( as much as possible without root ). No location or freaky stuff.
have problem with the Android System also. I'm now at 25%, Android System 37%, Screen 24% (2h57m). Location, Sync off. Hope someone can help with this. Thanks.
Same here, android system is the second consumer after the display. Very bad battery life after kit kat. On 4.3 i was getting 2 days easy and now under the same condition i get 1 day.

Hmm are you on ORO? I'm from bucharest too but let's talk English here
Anyway mine today seems stabilised. Android system is the second one now but still kinda high...
I'm on NC2 now. I have an unbranded phone and i tried all firmwares from sammobile, some with full wipe and still have battery drain. I even began to get rid of some apps but i don't think it is app related. I had exatly the same apps on 4.3 with much better battery life.
Having horrible battery life with my Note 3 after the update. The android system shows up using 50%.... It's been 4 hrs off the charger and I'm already down to 70% battery life. Just horrible.
I have a question for everyone who's suffering from the battery drain in KitKat and who seem to have Android System at the top of the list constantly:
Do you by any chance have a service called gsiff_daemon as a major cause for battery drain? You should be able to check this with Better Battery Stats or Gsam Battery Monitor apps.
I'm just trying to find out something and I could be wrong but it would be good to hear from people who have a draining battery.
