[Q] Need some help and info about the S4 security developement - Galaxy S 4 General

Hi all,
I own a galaxy s4 i9505 (tmobile). And only found out a few weeks after I bought it about this knox( Mod Edit Keep it clean.) What can we know? Is there somebody working on removing or at least resetting this knox counter? Because I seriously consider selling the phone, if nothing happens in the near future.
Sorry if there's already a thread about this, but the s4's forum is so huge, I can't search it through and I also don't have the time for that.
Thank you.

Well there are heaps of topics for Knox, most are now closed because it's too many threads on same topic, there is a special sticky esspecialy for Knox related topic, in fact at the top of the 1st page is a Knox research page, in other words you don't need to spend very much time looking for Knox topics.

[FOR MODS] Q&A Best ROM/Kernel Threads

Hi,
I know this isn't directly related to the Galaxy S4, but very often I see many 'Best ROM/Kernel' threads in the Q&A section here. In the i9100 (Galaxy S2), a forum mod created a sticky which can be viewed in the Q&A section. It clearly states that 'Best ROM/Kernel' threads are not allowed, and that people have to test for themselves.
Now, I know this will not solve the problem entirely, but those of us that take the time to look at the stickies will know why these 'Best ROM/Kernel' threads are not allowed. Also, someone will no doubt post the XDA forum rules here, but for simplicity and to tackle confusion with new members, I believe it would be helpful if a sticky like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881 was created and placed in the Q&A section.
Edit: If a mod wishes a sticky to be created, I will happily edit this thread to explain why 'Best ROM/Kernel' threads are not allowed, and this could be stickied and moved to the Q&A section.
Two examples in the last two days (many more but I think it gets the point across):
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427267
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428727
Thanks.

Yep, couldn't agree more. I've asked for it to be done.
Thing is, stickys are largely ignored (Check the average view count) - its the same in the s3 forum
Just report the thread when it appears

That is completely true, which is kind of annoying. As for your reporting the thread idea, every time a thread is reported and closed, it is highly likely the OP is very confused, 'why was my thread closed? This forum is for ROM's, what's wrong about asking for a good ROM?!' and the problem only becomes worse. At least if the thread is closed, it should only make sense if they are directed to a sticky or thread which explains why it has been closed, instead of a simple 'no best ROM/Kernel threads!'
Feedback appreciated.

No response from any mods? If mods do not wish for a sticky to be created, then let me know and you can close this thread. A response would be appreciated.

IMHO, "Best ROM/Kernel Thread" isn't allowed here. It may downgrade the level of Devs.
For Q/A thread we already have the same in Q/A Section.

Hi,
Moderators should never close a thread without leaving an short explanation behind to avoid the "confused noob" situation. I underlined "should never" because I am perfectly aware that guideline is (unfortunately) not followed by all moderators, however, it is followed by most of us.

It has only just been brought to my attention. If you want a thread noticed by moderators, it is best to report it and leave a report message asking us to read the thread.
As for sticking this thread, I'm not sure that its necessary - Q8 in the FAQ thread by malybru in the Q&A section deals with "Best ROM/Kernel" type questions and I have also added a short note in the Moderator Introduction thread stuck in general at the bottom with the other posting guidelines about best ROM/kernel threads.
Ultimately no matter what we do, as the userbase of XDA in general gets dumber with more people moving to smartphones and seeing XDA as a place to make their phone "kewl", these threads are going to become more commonplace and as noted by DSA, if the stickies aren't read, there isn't much anyone can do about it really apart from reporting the threads to moderators.

Thanks for your detailed response, and to be honest I have to agree. As the smartphone community grows, so does the amount of noobs on this forum, and it will be near impossible to combat this. Thanks for your reply, if you wish you can close this thread now.

Done

Sorry for my thread or not

I apologize if my post about iphone 5s/c enoyed a moderator in some way.. sorry i started a thread about a phone in tgr general section which if i can still read includes all discussion about any phones that doesnt fit in any other category.. if i would like only iphone users opinions then i would write on the iphone site.. but im sure there are android users as myself that are intrested to discuss all phones in the same place .. apparently xda moderators has started to close threads if they have a bad day and feel bad. This isnt the first thread i see closed down here with no real apparent reason . Maybe some moderators should look them self in the mirror before they shut down these threads that may be intresting for other people than themself

The problem is, the type of thread you started always ends up with kids just trolling and flaming and bashing iPhones and nothing productive is every accomplished. The thread you started had already gone in that direction and was closed with a link given by @Archer on where to get a more productive conversation out of the subject if that is what you really wanted. I've never owned an iPhone, I have no desire to own an iPhone, but you know what? They work and are a good fit for a lot of people. The same reason one ROM doesn't work for everyone is the same reason one phone does not work for everyone. People can choose what phone is best for them and at the end of the day, that is a good thing.
Now look, you made me start to ramble. Tsk.

Cyanogemod 11

Hey DEVELOPERS can you fix all the bugs in cyanogenmod 11 for gt-i9500
sure.. can you please stfu and stop creating new threads.. period!
Yeah. They were just waiting for you to ask. There'll be a totally bug free build in an hour now.
I don't think this is going to solve anything, OP.
Instead, when you come across a bug in the ROM, take a logcat and alter the developer in the ROM thread - it'll be more productive than creating a shoutout thread
looks like the op is new here and is quite excited on seeing the cm11 news , no harm intended
...
hey OP only create sensible threads. you could have asked the same idiotic question in CyanogenMod 11 Discussion by runedrune
thats the only way to get answers ..
Guys its still an open community.. and without members there would be no xda.. if someone new makes a mistake. There is also a polite way to guide them.. try to avoid sarcasm.. it's helps no one.. just my 2 cents
OP : please read forum rules before posting... try to read at least the last couple of pages before posting in any thread.. chances are you will have your answer there..

They've been polite many many times already, and a request like this is just disrespectful.

absoulutely I hate people being super rude against a new or under informed member just to look cool...
And yes op you should actually look at the discussion thread everything is explained in there within some posts.
I think it helps the OP more to link him the right thread as flaming him

There is the right place for your question but I am sure if you ask more friendly you will become a better answer

I know that. I read why they shut it down. Forum rules state that there should only be one topic created at a time.
By you creating a second thread because the original being locked are intentionally breaking that rule.
The moderator stated, "This thread is closed for a while until members read the rules regarding conduct"
Nobody except mods have the right to decide if such a thread should occupy the forum.
As a former moderator I can tell you that breaking a forum rule in effort to circumvent a decision made by a moderator is not taken lightly.

You don't need to break forum rules to know that you cannot (to date) unlock your bootloader or root your device. If you want to continue discussion then do so by other means in accordance with forum rules. Otherwise, dispute it with the forum moderator(s) that closed the thread in the first place. You're not cooperating with a moderators request and it can earn you an infraction if you aren't careful. Trust me as a former moderator I speak from experience.
So.. is this where the drama went?

Seems legit to me. The clock on returning devices is running out. Anyone know if the international version works well with T-Mobile?

Negative there is no continuing/alternative, from the other Thread. Why would you open this thread, seeing the other is Temp Closed.
And btw there is no freedom via XDA, this is a private Forum, that you signed up to belong to, and you also agreed to the Forum Rules.
Thread Closed, and please do not open another, as this will be my only Warning.
