For some days now I've been experiencing a weird issue with the back tap of the navigation bar.
At times (like 1 out of 5) when I'm inside an app and I tap back instead of going straight to the home it shows for a split second (but sometimes even longer like 2 or 3 seconds) one of the apps that was previously opened (especially apps that I use a lot like Twitter, Tapatalk or What's App).
The weirdest thing though, is that I'm now currently using my 3rd different rom and my 4th different kernel and I've been experiencing the issue with ALL of them. Purity 4.4 with Franco r16, Purity 4.4.1 with Franco r19, Cyano 11 with Trinity and now Cyano 11 with Franco r20. In all of those combination I've had the issue with the back tap. Sometimes doing a wipe of cache and dalvik helps post-pone it, like it doesn't show up for some hours, but then it always comes back. I don't recall having this issue when I was stock, but then again I remained on stock for a very brief time.
Anyone else been having the same problem? How to solve it?

I have the same issue. I'm completely stock. Happened with 4.4 and 4.4.1 haven't updated to 4.4.2 yet.

4.4, 4.4.1, 4.4.2 all do it.
Been using 4.4.2 since last night and at the risk of jinxing it, haven't experienced the issue anymore. Finger crossed it just won't happen again.

Seems to be a KitKat Bug. You can reproduce it also on a Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 with KitKat, also 4.4.2.
See Issue 63570 Android Open Source Project - Issue Tracker, sorry, as new user I'm not allowed to post links...
" Steps to reproduce the bug:
- As you can see, the home screen is cleared.
- Tap on battery settings from the quick settings dropdown menu;
- Use home button to come back to the home screen;
- Once again, tap on battery settings from the quick settings dropdown menu;
- This time, use back button to go back;
- Enjoy another background app opening for a second with no reason before going back to your home screen."

Current setup:
ROM: RebelROM Senseless Jelly Bean (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120688)
Kernel: ElementalX 5.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061577)
Note: I don't think this issue is ROM or Kernel specific, as I've noticed it on another ROMs and Kernels (including the stock kernel), but I wanted to mention my setup anyway.
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed the one-and-only time my phone seems to noticeably lag is when pressing the home button to leave an app - sometimes it takes as long as 2 or 3 seconds for my home screen to appear. What is odd is that I don't see that lag if I exit an app using the Back button, it only happens when using the Home button. The type of app doesn't seem to make a difference, either.
Has anyone else noticed this? I swear the lag has only shown up in the last couple of weeks or so, but maybe I'm going crazy and it's always been there.
Re: [Q] Phone lags ONLY when pressing home button
I've used rebelrom with that same setup (and other versions of elemental) for a long time and I have not seen that issue... It is indeed odd though... Have you nandroided and seen if it does it on another sense rom with sense removed? Also, which launcher are you using?

Nova Launcher, though I've also seen it on Action Launcher.
I haven't tried another Senseless ROM, maybe I will when I get the chance.
So, I think I finally figured this out.
It's the weirdest thing, but a couple days ago, I tracked it down to the “List” App Drawer style in Nova Launcher. I can’t explain why this was causing it, except that perhaps I had too many apps installed and it was trying to keep them all in memory or was re-loading that list every time I hit the Home button.
Either way, now that I’m back to the standard “Horizontal” App Drawer style, all appears to be well.
Does anyone else have the problem where the recent apps/task switcher doesn't actually show the latest app? It usually does if I back out and then hold the back button again. For example, if I'm in Internet and switch to Messaging then hold Back, Internet doesn't show up in the switcher. If I tap back and then hold back again, it does.
Also, most of the apps don't show actual screenshots. They just show a black square.
This has happened with a couple of different ROMs, but I don't remember if it did it while stock. Is there a fix?
Anyone?
I also had this issue when I was on 4.1, but not on 4.2. I have 3 people in my family who have stock rom and also have this issue. I have been trying to search for a fix, but your post is the only thing that showed up. Have you found a fix yet?

Nothing. Seems to happen on all TW ROMs that I try. I switched to an AOSP 4.2 ROM for a bit, but realized it wouldn't work with my Fitbit and switched back to TW before I noticed whether it was affected.
It has to be a problem with 4.1 because I've always had this problem, even on my gnex when I was running 4.1. When I was on 4.2, it didn't happen once. It's quite annoying, but must have been fixed with 4.2.

I have had a GS2, GNex, N4 and now a N5 and started having this issue since the nexus 4, can’t remember exactly when it started but I think it was around android 4.3 because I remember hoping that an update to the OS would fix this and when 4.4 came the issue still happened.
The issue is that I use the back button to exit out of apps completely but sometimes and I believe that it is completely random, when I open let’s say whatsapp and I press back to exit out of it, it sometimes opens another app that was on my recent apps list and then exits out of it by itself, this happens even if whatsapp was the only app open, is not like I went from a random app to whatsapp and I was backing out of whatsapp to these other app and this other app just blinks and closes out.
Anybody has this issue?
Here is a video showing the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU0n0j9LUCw
I get this often. No fix that I'm aware of :/.

Is this an android issue? or could it be our config? can anyone say they do not experience this issue?
I don't recall having this on my nexus 4, and I don't recall having this on my nexus 7. I'll have to pay more attention on my nexus 7 and update of I see it.
Yes, most probably it's a KitKat issue. I'm facing this problem as well and there was a big thread about this issue and there were many people with this problem :cyclops:
I face this problem on stock rom as well as on a custom rom..

I'm having the exact same issue on my Nexus 5. I happened on my Nexus 4 as well, so definitely an Android issue.
And you are right about it starting when Android 4.3 was released. I have been waiting patiently for a fix for a while now..

I can't believe this problem still exists on Android 5.0!
Anyone noticed how when you press the back button to exit and application too fast, the screen for you recent apps also display before you are taken back to the home screen?
This issues started after 4.4.3
Anybody have any solutions?
It's always been a weird KitKat bug, for me it brings up a random app from somewhere in the recents list that's not even been used for a while. Lol

Yes, not a 4.4.3 specific issue sadly. Was hoping this would have been resolved in the latest update but clearly not. D'oh. I'm completely stock everything, unrooted and it's happened since I bought the phone in February.
Ref: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/random-app-pops-button-exit-t2680148
I am completely stock too. I only started noticing it since 4.4.3 - or maybe it was always there.
Its quite irritating. Is google looking at this?
I've seen a dramatic increase since 4.3.3. Doesn't do it all the time but once it starts it seems to keep doing it for a while.
I cleared Cache and Dalvik but didn't make any difference.
Think this happened to me once recently, opened Google Chrome on its own.
Maybe it's not a bug. Returning to a previously used app could be seen as a convenience. Just a thought.

I've never experienced this issue. Why not just press the home button to exit the app?

I can confirm this starting from 4.4.3. It's quite simple to reproduce it for me:
Open Chrome and press the home button.
Open WhatsApp and enter a conversation. Press the back button two times quickly.
This should bring you back to your home screen. Instead it immediately will pop up Chrome for a moment, just to close it automatically afterwards. I press the back button two times in a lot of apps, so this is starting to be really annoying. I'm running everything stock. Has anyone experiencing the issue tried to hard-reset the phone to see if it goes away?
I used to face this on stock rom as well... Ever since I've started using a custom rom (AICP) , the bug has disappeared.

I can confirm it only started coming up since 4.4.3. It did not happen on 4.4.2.
I'm using stock Nexus 5, with Nova launcher.

I've tested it myself and I can confirm that a factory reset does not solve this issue.
Confirm, but true only for stock 4.4.3. Fast pressing back button to exit an app will cause opening last active app (f.e. open dialer with messaging app in background, twice-triple tap back and it will close dialer but bring messaging app right from home screen and close it (wut?)). Running custom and there is no such bug.

Ditto
After applying the 4.4.4 OTA this bug still seems to be present.
I have a little weird problem with the Facebook app. WHen I try to share something from an app or post directly from Facebook app, I can't seem to press "post" button at the top of the screen (or the "back" button also at the top). They're there but pressing them does nothing. Just like they're disabled. All I can do is go "back" with back navbar button and then discard the post or save to "drafts".
I tried clearing cache, uninstalling the app and re installing again, logging off and back on, clearing data... nothing works. I received updates of FB app, still the same issue. I can like posts, comment on posts but can't post my own. It works normally from the PC/browser.
Any ideas?
Thanx.

Just wondering if there is any solution to this? Had the same issue for a while now. I've installed facebook lite app which has no issues at all.
Try the version 177 and not update

The app is preinstalled on my phone which is galaxy s9 plus. If I disable the app and restart and enable it again it won't let you use the facebook app until it's updated to the latest version.

My wife and I have been having the same issue for the past 20 days. Done all the normal troubleshooting...no help. I have submitted to FB for at least the past 15 days. The only responses I get are, "Your feedback will be used to improve Facebook. Thanks for taking the time to make a report."
What's weird is my wife has a co-worker who has an S8+ and has no issues with FB. Maybe a version thing, but with so many of us with the same issue I would think some answer would have come up by now.

Yep, I was already looking at that option. I ended up going back to version 177.0.0.57.105 to be able to have full functionality. It's obvious one of the "fixes" broke something else in the app's functionality. I'll be keeping ver 177 until a new update that actually works is released.
Tried 177 and it works. Can't get into beta, says it is full....
