Not quite sure how to explain this one but I need to change what my phone is read as when an application reads my phone.
I have a Galaxy S 4G on tmobile and downloaded the MLB app so I could watch the games live. My phone isn't listed as a supported device, but the Nexus S is listed as a supported device. The two phones are almost exactly the same. Unfortunately, the app can see what phone I'm using and blocks me from watching the games.
Is there any way to "change" which phone I'm using? Is there some file in the android os that can be changed?
I appreciate the help guys and hope this made sense.

I have no idea if this applies to your question, but I recently did something similar to get the timescape app working on my tmobile G2. I had to install the appropriate apps and then change the line in build. Prop that reads
ro.product. manufacturer =HTC
to
ro.product. manufacturer=Sony Ericsson
maybe this is what you are looking for?
instead of the manufacturer try changing the other lines like for example
ro.product. name=
or
ro. product. device=
good luck remember to back up before attempting!

I know how to do it. Pm me. I did it for the HTC hero CDMA I made our phone think it was a Droid x even in the market lol
GOT IT to work!!! Pretending I'm at Nexus One. I will go into more detail on my break. The resolution isn't where I hoped it to be. We will see tho. I will try to get the Nexus S details and try that instead.

I don't have any knowledge of how to port webos to the nexus 7 but I'd love to try it if somebody could do it
Still think webos is one of the best OS`s that I've used

Yes! If you could make it flashable via cwm recovery id be your slave for a day lol
Not to crush anyone's hopes I said " might" I have yet to start going through tutorials on xda university and it will take me ages (I have only a small amount of experience with c++ and non at all with c)

Oh and also anyone could have an as good a chance as me as doing this you can just start to learn android development from xda university and that should help understand open webOS a bit more.

Actually we don't need to port I just remembered about the phoenix webos app that the phoenix group have been working on that let's u run webOS within android we don't need to port we can just wait for that to come out.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I heard about the app, but having a limited os inside an app isn't the same as installing the full os on the device
I'll probably try out the app but I still think it'd be better if someone could port webos proper to the nexus 7
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well I wonder how it would be limited you could just take a ROM and use titanium backup to remove all in wanted apps and just use webos for everything.

They've released how to test it on webos ports http://www.webos-ports.org/wiki/Testing_Nexus_7 but u still have to boot it at first via the PC (after its booted to webos you don't need to keep it plugged into the PC) but apparently using it won't affect your android install, now just to figure out what ifconfig is.

I just watched the video on Ubuntu for phones os and its looks great! On the website, there's option for the lite version that will work with phones with minimum single core. I'm loosing hope on fully functional jb on this phone and I feel this is the last resort other than buying a new phone. Are you guys going to install it when it releases?
I really want to. But I just don't know how to go about doing that. Also your right, jb is just a maybe, and honestly I really want something stable and fast

Correct me, but did it not say it will have to be ported? I was reading if all devices will be getting it. Maybe it will be similar how cyanogen mod work and has different devs for different devices.
I would love to help with that if that is the case.

The Ubuntu website said that this odd based off the android kernel. It's probably ics kernel because it was on g nexus. This could be notable for us, we may never get this fully working.

Uhhh, it'd be the same inherent problem we currently have with trying to get jellybean on these phones...nvidia (closed source) chips. Right? Drivers are pretty important little buggars.
We may have problems yes. But I still would be very happy to be sportin' ubuntu on my phone.

IMO, ubuntu on the G2x sounds amazing.
I'll be watching for such development from my polished turd of a device...

It will give you problems, one of the requirements for Ubuntu on phones is that the have to be able to run ics or jb, nvidia drivers are required.

Not having the Java overhead would make it feel like a new phone. Hopefully it can be ported.

There's a good chance this will run on Mazout's CM10.1 unofficial (no radio), and now that Mazout has compiled a fairly easy dual-boot option to this ROM it will be a lot easier to experiment with.

I wanted to create a wallpaper thread here for all of us Active users so we could share our wallpapers . I like to collect wallpapers and I also like finding new ones. The way I see it is you can never have enough. Post any wallpaper that you may want to share with the community. It doesn't matter what kind of wallpaper you post just as long as it is clean and does not offend anyone. I will post more within the thread as I find new ones. Here are a few to get us started.
Personally I think that the Firefly ROM from the old Samsung Captivate had some of the best, well polished wallpapers out there. The entire ROM just looked amazing and was very well put together, better than most manufacturers put out these days. Sadly it was the only ROM that @xtremekilla09 put out. Even though it was based on Android 2.2 I have always hoped that somebody would update it and port it to other phones, at least the theme if nothing else.
Anyways, I've taken all the wallpapers out of the ROM and uploaded them to a zip if anybody else wants them, like I said they're pretty amazing.

I'm into live wallpaper currently I'm using Shape Swap LWP. Very customizable I also use it on my Optimus G Pro. I believe its free.

Another one of my favorites is 3d Image Live wallpaper. Gives any 2d image a 3d effect. It's a paid app costs a dollar something I forget. Worth it though.

I have bought around 15 to 20 live wallpapers over the years. I like them as long as the dont make my phone laggy. Right now the one I've been hooked on is Next Nexus Live Wallpaper Pro on my Active. On my Nexus 7 Gyrospace 3D looks pretty cool.
