Hi,
I can't update to 4.4.2, because "TelephonyProvider.apk" has unexpected data. I'm not aware of any changes I did to it. Where can I download the 4.4.1 version? I found something here*, but it'll still not update to 4.4.2. Is there any other possibility of fixing this issue?
I use the Xposed Framework and AdAway, but deactivated both of them, rebooted and wiped the cache before trying to update.
Here is the whole message:

EDIT: Despite backing up TelephonyProvider.apk and TelephonyProvider.odex I can't use my N5 as a phone any more. The error message "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped." pops up every second or so. The only reason to avoid is is to enable Airplane mode. I copied the original files to /system/app using Root Browser, but it seems not to be recognized as installed. I can click on it and choose "Install". Anyways, after verifying the permissions it gets, there's a simple "App not installed." Sorry for being such a noob
I found it in this post. Now everything works just fine again

I got my captivate, I rooted it, then I did the leaked update to Froyo and since the update I have had constant problems. Apps freeze, the phone locks up and eats my battery minimum two time a day, average three or four.
So I decided to install Cognition 2.4. Well, I have a full version of Rom Manager. So I click the install rom from SD Card. I select the cognition2.4.zip file. And it makes me click the clear data option and click ok, then it reboots and a status bar appears that starts to move to the right, then I get the messages below....

So I really need to get this thing updated. This ROM is driving me nuts and I need one that doesn't crash three or four times a day. I need one that will allow me to actually run apps and open my settings menu. It's irritating. Anyone else have this issue?
Should I try flashing it back to stock or does someone actually know a way around this one?

epic fail
Odin is a pain in the ass to get rid of. I tried a Master Clear and I still have JI6 even though I did a master clear on JF6. And my firmware is still 2.2. I have to figure something out.
I am trying to remove apps from my HTC Hero (Sprint) by using Titanium Backup. I have the lasted Cyanogen ROM installed.
I have installed the BusyBox. I click on the app I want to remove and go down to Force Remove App (by recovery exploit).
It then reboots. However, it stays on the screen with the exclamation point and the android guy. When I hit a button on the phone and comes up with this:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package....
E:Signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.0.1.3
Any suggestions?
Same problem here.
Suggestions would be appreciated.
Try This
This worked for me...let me know if it works for you...
Download BusyBox (by hitting Problems)
Go to Backup / Restore
Now just click an APP, don't hold it.
You Should be able to select Un-Install from here.
That's it!
Same problem here. Last proposed solution doesn't work, removed application is back after reboot.
Update:
Managed to remove Facebook using shell commands in ADB (http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/10050-how-to-uninstall-facebook-after-installing-gapps/)
I really hated that Facebook service running in the background, now it's gone!

Is the truecaller app the latest version?
Try reinstalling it.
Also try updating your CM11 to M9.

You download it from here: http://get.cm/get/iwr
You then put it on your phone's storage.
You boot in recovery.
You create a backup from recovery.
You then simply install the zip, without wiping anything.
You reboot.

Disable signature checking from recovery. There should be an option that sounds like:
Toggle signature check

Okay then... apparently dirty flashes don't work.
Well, you either stay with M8, or backup your apps with titanium backup or such and do a factory data reset before you install.

thanks alot for taking ur time out and helping /guiding me through this problem
just 1 last question pls (3 parts )
suppose i take a nandroid backup and factory reset then when i restore will EVERYTHING (apps+data) come back as it is except that i will be on the M9 version?
i already have a titanium backup transfered on my dropbox will that do the trick? or will i need nandroid also?
if i do it through titanium and then factory reset all i will have to do then is just re-download titanium n then restore missing apps+data right? or can i just do it through dropbox?
pls ive never done done this so a link to some guide will be extremely helpfull
As long as you backup with titanium backup you will be able to restore the applications but may have to log in to a lot of them again

I have installed an apk file previously and now intend to install another updated apk file to my android phone. However the installation of the new apk file failed with message "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed".
I had tried to uninstall the first apk and then install the new apk file but the installation failed with the same message appeared. My phone is not rooted. Is there any way to rectify the error ?
Thank you in advance.

I found another user who could fix a similar issue with YouTube.apk: [Q] Installing the new YouTube V5 apk Issues (task's AOKP).
Maybe it works for you too.
Alternatively you can check if the un-installed (first) app is really completely uninstalled. Maybe it's a system app which still has some left-overs in another folder and is just "de-activated" or "disabled".
However, completely uninstalling of system apps requires root access.
If you still have issues and you can't contact the app/update dev for help, you can post your questions in the Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Hello all,
I'm hoping someone could help me. After the update to play services 6.1 a while ago (what i believe started my problems) I had constant (as in every 2 seconds) crashes of Google play services and gapps. I had to roll back services and play store to factory to get everything normal. Though afterwards a few programs were crashing a lot like dropbox and amazon music. In an attempt to fix that I uninstalled dropbox to reinstall and now i get errors trying to install. someone suggested using a file explorer to delete the remaining files, it gives me an error trying to do so. (i have root btw) I tried to wipe the cache in recovery and it fails and has this error in the log:
Code:

Anyone know whats going on? I'm so fed up i considered a factory reset, but im afraid that what ever this is would effect it and brick my phone in the process, can anyone help? Thanks
Anyone? This I s driving me nuts. I can't even use my phone for most of what I need anymore.
I'd completely wipe it and return the phone to completely stock and start fresh.

Thanks for the link, already running stock though, just rooted. Believe me I just want to factory reset at this point. But I'm afraid that those errors might be prevalent when trying to do so and bork phone entirely.
Hi, I tried to do a factory reset, but things aren't quite right. When I boot i get the System UID's Inconsistent error. Looking at the log shows that those error posted in the code occurred during the reset. What is going on how do i fix this, some Google stuff works now, but some doesn't and crashed, such as gmail, it says i need the updated play services which i'm afraid to update anyway cause that's when play services starts to crash. I REALLY need some help. I have to us my phone fo so many things and thins is messing me up. Thanks for any help anyone an give.

I know you're apprehensive about flashing the fastboot images, but it's the only thing that has a chance of fixing your problems. Time to bite the bullet.

that never went away, when doing a factory. reset and everything it would not wipe the sections that gave an IO error
Maybe totally not related, but had similar issue with my black OPO (stock rom, no root). Google Play Store kept crashing. Just googled the issue and believe it or not, but in my case it was solved by changing back the THEME (yes the theme!) to default/stock Theme Hexo... Bam no more crashes!
