Hi, I'm a noob. I have a nexus s (ICS) on sprint service. I managed to unlock but I can't seem to root. I've tried serveral manual and one click methods. In recovery mode, I am unable to flash (download) su.zip to my device. I keep getting a message. Message states, "E: signature verification failed Installation aborted". I've done factory reset, wiped all data caches nothing seems to work. Any suggestions would be greatly apperciated. Thanks
you root first, then install SU, if it hasnt been done in the root gaining process.
Hi,
I'm trying to update my MT7-TL10 with the OTA update called "B122SP06_B123SP03". When the download is finished, the phone reboot into recovery and tries to install the update but fails after some seconds.
What I already did:
Flash original recovery
Unroot
Factory reset
Update with SD card: fail
Update with HiSuite: fail
What may be related with update failure:
I installed the xposed module and tried to change build.prop file some weeks ago.
The original recovery is not the right one maybe, how to know?
The current ROM is MT7-TL10V100R001CHNC00B122SP06
Thanks to anyone who can help
So I downloaded TWRP manager off Google Play to my rooted device and attempted to install the recovery. When I attempted to reboot, it said custom binary blocked by reactivation lock and was stuck in bootloop. I tried then using odin to install stock firmware, but it ended with an error and now it says that an error has occured and to use the Smart Switch PC software, but that requires serial, which I can't seem to find anywhere. What can I do?

Hello,
I have installed the latest OTA update yesterday and since my Moto G 4G is stuck on bootloader.
The bootloader has been unlocked few month ago and everything was OK.
According to Moto Support the update doesn't work with an unlocked bootloader and that's why my phone is stuck on boot...
I tried to start recovery and do a Wipe/factory reset in order to install a ROM found on XDA forum but each time I try to install the rom from the sdcard i have an error message :
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
Installation Aborted
I tried with the following ROMs :
XT1039_Retail_EU_51_Optimized_v1.1
XT1039_Retail_EU_51_Untouched_Stagefright_Patched
pa_peregrine-5.1-20150822
And each time I have the same error..
What can I do ?
Regards,
Either your downloads are corrupt or the ZIPs you are trying to install are not signed. In the latter case you can disable signature verification in TWRP.
did it work?
For OTA Updates to be successful the best method is to first flash the full factory firmware image.

Hello,
My phone(Samsung galaxy s8) just had a crash and is stuck on the blue screen with "Installing update". After several seconds the screen goes away and boots straight into the recovery mode.
The log that i see in the recovery is :
Fail to open recovery_cause(No such file or directory)
Failed to mount /efs
Unknown volume for path /odm
dm-verity verification failed
I tried to install the stock firmware (I cant link to the webpage but im 100% sure its the correct one) but it wont boot and goes to the "Installing update" again and after that to the recovery.
I tried installing twrp but it wont install due a FRP lock. i read that you should wipe your data and factory reset. Also tried that but again no succes.
Can someone please help me.
Thanks in advance

I'm going to take a guess here, you had the device rooted and then you tried to apply an OTA stock update while the device was rooted? Tyically, stock OTA updates can't be applied to devices that have been rooted because the updates require the device to have an unmodified system partition(no root) and they require stock recovery instead of custom recovery. There are "some" devices that can apply stock updates while rooted, but those are few and far between.
If that is what you did, you need to do some searching for repairing failed OTA updates on rooted devices.
