[Q] Flashable APN file? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there was a working, flashable APN file for AIO wireless, or a easy way to create one? Thanks!

Just type in the settings that you can find by googling? What's so not easy about that?

I just didn't feel like re-typing in the setting every time I flashed a new rom.

Sprint WiFi Hotspot apk

I am looking for the WiFi hotspot apk, does anyone have it? I am running the new fresh. I was going to nandroid into myn's and copy the apk to my SD card, but figured I would ask first. Also does anyone know about the hack to disable authentication?

The apk can be found in several roms, including mine. The hack was done by calkulin. Search for mods under his name and you'll find it.
Deodexed version attached. You need to run Calkulin's hack on top of this.
Thanks

CM7 question on Nexsus S

Quick questions. 1. Just got my Nexsus S Saturday; coming from iPhone 4, and I have managed to root and installed CM 7 build 150 nightly and want to know. Do I have to do a complete wipe every time a new nightly comes out? Or can I just update? I have done the backup of my ROM the very first time and have actually backed up my ROM twice just be safe.
Other question maybe someone knows is, anyone using the Nexsus S on AT&T? Want to know if adjusting the build.prop files to speed up the download and upload speeds works? Reason is my I phone's download up load are much faster than the Nexsus S. Would like to at least match the speeds to my iPhone. Thanks.

Between nightlys you don't have to wipe. If they are changing the kernel (or you're experience other problems) wiping cache and dalvik cache might be necessary (in case of "other problems" fixing permissions in cwm recovery might also help).

I have no experience with AT&T radios, maybe this link will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884

I've used all of the data tweaks, and honestly, it hasn't made it anywhere near iPhone speeds for me. That could just be my area, though.

I just installed the KD1 radio on my Nexus S and now my upload speed is uncapped. not as good as my iPhone 4, but now I am getting 1.9 - 2.8 download and upload .83-.99.
This is without any mod to the build.prop file. Don't if i should try it.
I might have take back my Nexus S back to Best Buy since I am getting the bug where the find button goes crazy without touching it.

What do you get on your iPhone 4?
You can always add the build.prop very easily. Once you change that file and save it a back up is created automatically.

On my iPhone 4 I normally get from 2.0 - 3.0 and sometimes as much as 3.3 download. Upload is always 1.2 and 1.5 unless I'm at home which is around .80.
Which radio are you using? Also what settings you end up using for the build.prop file? Did you just add them at the end if the file and rebooted twice? Will test out once I see what settings you used and radio.
I'm having a really bad issue with the search key going off in its own. Now it does more since i changed over the KD1 radio.

Did that search button go crazy in unrooted form? I posted the build.prop setting for you in the radio thread. I'm using radio kb4.

It did a few times when I had it stock.
OK thanks will check the radio thread must of missed it. I thought you had KB3? Also I went ahead installed the KB3 Radio and wow. Overall getting 2.8 down but the upload is low in the .30. this is of course without adding anything to the build.prop file.

[Q] Enabling Regulatory Domain (Wifi Ch 12, 13) for SGS2 Skyrocket?

Can anyone tell me how to enable "regulatory domain" aka wifi channel 12 and 13?
I have a US SGS2 Skyrocket but spending some time in London. The Place im staying only provides WIFI in channel 13 (I dont have the ability to get this changed)
I know for the X10 they modded a file which fixed it. How to do it for the SGS2 SR?
Menu.settings.wireless networks.wifi settings.menu.advanced

That option is no longer there, I searched but only found a solution for the X10
I was hoping someone knew a file to mod or some hidden menu

Where is the wifi manager apk located?
I think its part of the rom they linked but I couldnt find it, so I gave up.
#Update#
#Update#
Took the settings App from SkyICS (which has the Regulatory Domain Option Enabled) and nothing
Change Country Code (ccode) to GB the same as SkyICS in \etc\wifi\nvram_net.txt and that didnt work
Modified the secure table using sqlite3 to set max wifi channel to 14, but it wasnt seeing anything on channels 12 or 13, and if you reboot it gets reset back to 11
So far nothing, so it must be something in the drivers that enables the Regulatory Domain
Well very old thread but belongs in Q&A. Moved
Cheers
Thanks Mod
To follow up on my previous post
I copied the drivers from another GB rom that has the regulatory domain enabled
/sys/modules/dhd.ko
And
/etc/wifi folder
Wifi starts up
But still no reg domain settings under advanced
Next step
Try to decompile the settings app to see what triggers the reg domain option
I think it may be in the kernel. Reason I say this is I had the option when I flashed the siyah kernel to my i9100.

Safe DPI Change ?

I've searched, but my questions hasn't been answered for a while, so i would like to know 2 things,
Im using room tool box, and before i touch anything I would like to know if i can safely edit the build.prop
or do i have to do this before hand? "View comment below taken from a dpi thread"
Mister_Mxyzptlk said:
If you're curious, you can make a CWM-flashable zip with your default build.prop in it and try out some different settings. If you bootloop, flash the stock build.prop and all is better.

Loading custom MMS.apk's

Hello, this is my first post... I hope its in the right place.. haha OK so the issue I'm having is... well first is it even possible to install/use another UI's MMS.apk? For example if I want to use maybe Motorola's MMS.apk? So I have tried (through root explorer) and it wants me to install it... so I tried but it failed.. how can I get around that and make it work?
Thanks for any help!
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I'm probably wrong... change permissions on old apk to 774 then install.
Make a backup! Obviously
Sent from my One X using xda premium
Thanks for the quick reply! I tried that but it still failed! And I tried using the app wonder machine app on my computer and when I tried it said something like missing shared files or missing shared library or something like that...
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
You don't need to install it...if you push it to system/apps and make the permissions correct you need to reboot in order for it to work. But most likely it's part of motoblur so it probably won't work.
Thanks! And that probably is part of it! Is there any way to get around it?
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Use titanium backup to backup and uninstall the default app. Then put the mms.apk in system>apps. Reboot. If that doesn't work the mms app you're trying to use isn't compatible. I'm currently using the inverted aosp ics mms apk on viper rom.
