CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.
Instructions

It seems to be a common, known issue right now. I'm not sure what the cause of it is.

can we get a quick rundown of any major bugs/what's not working so far?

I'm on 12/9 and I am experiencing no major bugs. Just make sure you use 4.4 gapps (I'm using invisiblek's latest in his OP post). Your milage may vary but I have no reason against using it as a daily driver. Just do a nandroid backup and if you have issues you can fall back to it. My only complaints are minor: the LTE toggle I added to quick settings appears to be buggy/not work. But I changed mobile network settings to CDMA/EDVO auto and that works for me. I needed to install the Google Keyboard before I could type anything but that was before I flashed gapps. Do a factory reset before flashing etc and let us know how it goes!

I can't seem to find where to go to disable the volume indicator sound when adjusting the volume. Is that missing? I looked though all settings categories.

Based on what I've read from people's experiences switching to 4.4, I would say no. It simply won't boot. Wipe the usual and do a clean install. In general, when in doubt, clean install, 'cause why not?

On 4.4? I haven't personally tried it yet. I've been busy. Once again, from what I've read, people are amazed at how from the first nightly on, this has basically been daily driver material.

Which Google Apps pack do I want for this? Thanks
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Just installed, smooth once I got the newest version of ClockwerkMod.
Question, I see CM11 replaced it's old launcher with two new ones, "Launcher" and "Launcher 3".
What is the difference?

I did a semi "dirty" install over 10.2 RC1 and things like bluetooth and the Google keyboard proved buggy. I have just formatted, wiped cache and dalvik and installed 12/12 nightly fresh. I used the gapps from 12/8 found in the link in the development thread. I used the mirror at invisiblek. Seems much better now.
Edit:
Is anyone else having trouble with their Bluetooth devices reconnecting once paired, powered down, then powered back up? I have a Motorola Elite flip. I pair it. It works. Then if I shut it off it needs to be resynched upon powering up.

How's the camera resolution on CM4.4.1 compared to stock TW? Thx in advance!

Google+ Locations FC?
Hello,
Installed the 12-12 Nightly and am having a problem with Google+.
When I try to access "Locations" (the old Latitude option on Google Maps) to see my friends, I get a FC.
Anyone else get this?
Thanks!

Thinking about going from CM10.2 Stable to CM11 here in a bit. Just a (probably really stupid) quick question: How do I determine what my current firmware is without much trouble? I'd rather not worry about updating that if I don't need to once the time comes.
I see the OP links to VRBMF1 firmware, which is what my Baseband version says (I535VRBMF1) in Settings > About, but I'm not sure if those are one in the same or not. Thanks.

+1 - CM is really the one ROM to rule them all. I can't use a different ROM for more than 8hrs before starting to miss CM7. A large part of my decision to get the Shift was actually based on the probability of CM support.
Thanks so much to all the CM team and Toastcfh in particular! Gonna try and send a donation this payday. Gonna lie and tell the wife it's for pr0n
Loving the rom so far, i enjoy it way more than the nightlies build, but Has anyone tested a kernal on this yet???
I noticed that the instructions for upgrading from another version of CM7
It doesn't tell us to wipe.
Would it be better to wipe cache/full wipe etc? Or just flash 7.1 over 7.0.3?

You should be fine just wiping dalvik and cache. But make a nandroid first. If it goes wrong just restore your nandroid and do a full wipe (system, data, etc). But most likely you'll be fine without the full wipe.
Is this based on a particular nightly? Like did they just take one of the more recent nightlies and change it to the 7.1 release? Let's say I am running nightly 216, is there any reason to flash this stable one if the nightly is running perfectly on my phone? I am just not sure exactly how this differs from a stable nightly.
Thanks.

It differs from a nightly because it is a stable build. Not saying the nightlies aren't stable... and, I believe the stable versions are put together (compiled) by a human where as the nightly releases are compiled by the build bot...

Any of the AOSP kernels in kernel manager lite should work.
The favorites here are ScaryStable, Pershoot and Tiamat.
I personally prefer ScaryStable.
Awesome thank you. I was concerned because those say for like 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 and this rom is 2.3.7

seemed odd to me cause ive been to their site plenty of times before. maybe i typed it in wrong.
What exactly are nightly builds? I know there built by a bot, and aren't 100% stable, but are they rebuilds of the actual cyanogen rom? Please forgive my ignorance, but I have yet to run cyanogen mod.

Ok, is there any particular reason why its not listed on the cyanogenmod download page? Also, in the op, the main link isn't working. I'm downloading from the mirror now. Seems as if it should be on the speedy download page never the less.

You didn't wipe dalvik and cache before flashing. Try downloading from the link in the OP, reboot in to recovery, mount usb storage, copy kernel to sdcard and reflash after wiping dalvik and cache.

GApps
Should we use the PA KitKat gapps when flashing or use the 11-19 gapps you have in your collection?

So glad to see your name in this forum. A trusted name for years now! Thank you so much Invisiblek!
Is this based one 4.4.1 yet? Will the camera upgrades make its way to us on the S3 or were they just for the N5? Just wondering.

Not supposed to be using ART on this phone. Its for devs only. No need for it. It doesn't do anything except make certain apps unusable.

Thanks for the information guys. I appreciate it. Its turned on now and everything works for me - I'll probably shut it off if something becomes unstable.
I did notice that the "Location" item in the Quick Settings menu says it is off even though location services are turned on. Not a big deal I don't toggle it very often but just thought I'd mention it.
Also, anyone know any setting to make the new launcher do landscape?

This is stable enough for me to use as an everyday (12/6 nightly). Will OTA update list show when an official stable version releases? Will I be able to update CM versions OTA using the update feature in settings? Great work last CM i used was CM 7 for my HTC One X hahaha:good::good:

Camera quality seems to be great on CM11. I tested this next to a stock Verizon G3 and the only difference I noticed between the 2 would be the color temperature. One macro image I took with both was noticeably better on the one with CM11.
so does the laser auto focus still seem to function correctly with this?
is there any real way to verify that it is working except supposed time to capture image by estimation
Best flashed rom yet... Tried Liquid Smooth and ran into a bunch of different issues and wanted something more stable. This runs fast and smooth, no issues as of yet. Wish the LG quick remote would one day work on this rom. Thanks for posting!

[ROM][Official][5.1.x] CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies for the AT&T Galaxy S4 (jflteatt)

IMPORTANT INFO:
-You must be on either the UCUAMDB or UCUAMDL bootloader or you aren't going to be able to use this ROM. I'm sorry =(
(run this in a terminal to find out: getprop ro.bootloader )
-We have de-unified the Galaxy S4 line. This is for the AT&T variant (SGH-I337) only.
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.1.x (and 5.0.x) (Lollipop), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.

We have de-unified the Galaxy S4 line. Too many issues with having them all in one and a maintainer's nightmare. Look for jflteatt builds now as opposed to the jflte builds you previously used.
I use OpenGApps.
The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
invisiblek has done most of the work, I am just allowing it to benefit those with AT&T S4s by providing support where I can, and putting time into testing and debugging when I need to.
Note: Most of this I shamelessly copied from invisiblek's CM12 post on the Verizon Galaxy S4 forums, he's the expert here.

No, it is not supported yet... patients is key regarding many features that we have grown accustomed to.
Invisiblek is working on f2fs supports, there are a few holdups, one is (if I remember right) some issues with recovery support for it.

No. We need a maintainer for jfltecan i337m, at least someone who can build CM 12 and test it on their jfltecan phone. This has tests against the bootloader and device strings to only install on jflteatt. If you wanted to try, you could modify the file in the zip that specifies the device, I know other people have done that. The loki setup will only run on the bootloader versions specified in the OP.

I thought ROM for jflteatt and jfltecan were interchangeable; am I wrong? Are there hardware differences between the i337 and i337m?
I did a dirty flash from CM11 to CM12 and I'm having an issue with MMS. In the log is says SMS/MMS works http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/85541/

Hi. I'm coming from Danvdh's GPE rom and tried to flash using the latest twrp. But I got an error message that my device is jfedlte and that the rom I'm trying to flash is jflteatt.
Trying to slueth on own I edited the buildprop and changed the device to = jflteatt, but this didn't help.
Can anyone throw me a bone on this?
Thanks in advance!

That I know of, there are no hardware differences between jflteatt, jfltecan, and jfltetmo (I'm not an expert on this, so don't quote me); however, jflteatt has a locked bootloader and the other two don't, there are some firmware differences between at least jflteatt and jfltetmo, and jflteatt has an overlay built it that initially sets the APN to a certain AT&T APN.
Besides that, there currently is not a cm-12.0 branch on jfltecan, but the only differences between jflteatt and jfltetmo as it is are mostly device identifying strings, with the default APN and loki added on jflteatt. All GSM versions of jflte are using the same set of blobs.

What do you have set as the APN? The APN I use is the "ATT Phone" APN, and I'm not having problems. MMS problems are often symptoms of APN problems in my experience thus far.
APN settings are in Settings->Wireless & Networks->More->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names, the bullet point on the right side marks the default one. If that doesn't work, you'll need to give me more information about your phone and how it is set up before I can do anything about it or give a better answer.

There are tests built into the flashing scripts that check to make sure your device/current ROM is jflte or jflteatt (for in-place upgrades).
The first suggestion I can offer is to wipe /system, since it will remove most traces of your previous ROM without affecting your data. If you still have that problem appearing, then your phone is identifying itself as jgedlte, and you're trying to use the wrong ROM (or you might have some recovery issues you need to fix first, but that is less likely, since your recovery obviously works). The full dirty flash is only supported if you are coming from a CM11 (jflte or jflteatt) or CM12 (jflteatt) install; you should be able to flash from your previous rom (if not CM11 or CM12 jflte/jflteatt) without doing a factory reset/wipe data, but I can't guarantee that it won't be needed.
The updater script checks to see that ro.product.device or ro.build.product are jflte or jflteatt, if neither of those properties is one of those values you will get the message "This package is for device: jflteatt, jflte; this device is ("ro.product.device")."
Ya'll be careful regarding the alarm clock. My alarm failed to go off this morning.

I have used 2 separate devices as alarm clocks ever since I stopped using a 'real' alarm clock that plugged into an outlet.
When your only alarm clock is run by a battery that barely lasts longer than 20 hours it's smart to have a little redundancy.

IT SEEMS THERE ARE NO MORE UPDATES FOR CM12! 12/10 seems to be the last one. If you flash CM13 without looking into things first, you could be in for a world of hurt! Notes:
Please Use Firmware: VRBMF1

Modem/Baseband Version: NE1 (Also, see "Notes - Possible Bugs" section below)
(EDIT: The following statement might not be true. It happened to one user. Unsure about circumstances... If you've done it or want to try, please tell us what happens.)If you have recently downgraded firmware from 4.3 to 4.1.2, DO NOT flash the MF1 firmware. You'll brick your device!
If you know you never took the 4.3 OTA, then you can flash the firmware and modem to your hearts content.
CWM Recovery addicts: Please seriously consider giving up CWM and come on board with what works for sure with 5.1.x, TWRP. Problems have been coming up with CWM users so if you have one, that's were to start. Hopefully there's a 12-step program somewhere for y'all

I don't know if this is a temporary of permanent state of affairs but inquiries are forth coming. In the mean time, the 12/10 build is in the "d2vzw ROM Extras" link below so at least we got that, thanks to XdrummerXboy.

Open GApps:opengapps.orgThey are modular AND have the option of Aroma Installer. Updated daily. Very interesting story on these. There is the website, and an XDA thread.
>>>WARNING!!<<< The first time one installs Open GApps, you have to do it with a ROM update (or reinstall current ROM) AND manually wipe the system partition first. Then install the ROM and the GApps normally, then wipe Dalvik and Cache. After that, you can flash them anytime. (More info on Website.) ALSO, for now, don't install Webview as it might not work. There is an "Android System Webview" in the Play Store that will work.
Other Options:

Banks Gapps removed after just one too many malfunctions... If you use 'em and have a problem, update from the Play Store your offending app or flash one of these others, but don't come complainin'.

Notes - Possible Bugs
Bluetooth observed as flaky with some connected devices.
CMUpdater apparently only functional with TWRP 2.8.7.0
4G/LTE Data might not start on bootup (lately) - With Wifi disconnected or off, go to Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names and select one of those not already selected. Give it a few seconds. Should be good till next reboot.
Addendum to Data Issue: If you can't live with the above solution (like me) then downgrading to the ML1 modem has fixed it, seemingly without any ill effects. Modem is in the "d2vzw ROM Extras" link above.
>>Attention ATT, T-Mobile and other GSM Network Users (International)<<
If you use your d2vzw on one of the GSM networks, you will have to flash the d2gsm_rilblobs.zip file in the 'd2vzw ROM Extras' link above or your phone won't operate properly!
The CyanogenMod team (of which I'm not a member) always thanks everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
