Nope, and there won't be one (at least until the G2 updates to KitKat)
But that shouldn't make you feel blue, you can always theme your phone to look like a G2.

If you don't like "Google version" then nexus is not for you

Galaxy Tab plus

This is a nice device but it been out for a while and still no ICS for USA version and no awesome roms. I just purchased the new nexus 7 16gb and its a 1000000 times better IMO and there is already a lot of development going on for it.
Good for you. The nexus forum is that way ------>

Well. I'm using my 7 plus with ICS right now and is smooth as butter. I Hated the wait but now I'm happy with it. It's like a whole new device.

To quote an old saying "Don't let the door hit you in the Arse!!)
i think "1000000 times better" is overrated

Can I upgrade Nexus 5 battery?

I was wondering if any hardware guys have tried and if its possible to go higher. Also wondering if it work stock.
Thanks for being one my favorite websites, all help appreciated.
Upgrade to what? Its not exactly easily removable, and even if you do take it out and find a bigger battery from another phone, how do you expect to close the rear panel?
In theory yes. You can pop the case open and drop in a battery. However your not supposed to so you could easily break your phone doing it and if the battery is even barely to big the phone won't go back together.

Can you?
finding a battery to fit into a housing not easy...
But I remember a thread with someone that did just that. But with the Nexus 4, so I guess it is possible with the N5 and the LGG2 ?

[Q] black Nexus 5 with white batterydoor

Hi.
I have a nexus 5 in black and want to change my batterydoor in a white one.
I want to have a non-glossy white nexus 5
Did anyone do this before?
Are there any problems?
Where should i buy a white batterydoor?
Greetz
I've seen backcovers on ebay for nex 5, try searching there, costs around $30 I guess.

Might trade for G2

So I have the G2 and I have a buddy of mine offering to trade it for a 32GB N5. While I know that its basically the same phone I am more encouraged to simply because I feel that the N5 is more future proof.
Am I wrong for this ? Or should I keep it.

You should change the title to "Might Trade for the Nexus 5".
And to answer your question, yes the Nexus 5 should be more future proof than the G2.

I have changed the title I have offers for both white and black versions I've been reading on some new N5 hardware is there anything I should be looking for when choosing between old and new hardware?

The hardware changes include: larger speaker grills and sturdier buttons. Get the version with the newest hardware. You can tell if it's the newer version if the phone's first three serial numbers are above 311 (312, etc).
There's also another way by looking at the HW Version in the fastboot mode. REV_12 or higher should all have the latest hardware revisions.
Fyi, the G2's base cost (~$669.00 unlocked on ebay) is much greater than the Nexus' base cost ($400 unlocked off the play store). Keep that in mind before trading.
The G2 has a better camera and battery.
I almost got one but found a good deal on a Nexus 5.

Yeah I know its a better phone but I guess I was just thinking future wise ....I guess at this point i might as well keep it then, root and install CM11

I personally would go with the Nexus 5 because of official software updates and the day development community that continues to grow!
If you don't care much about development and timely/official updates from google then I'd say stick with the G2.
sent from my neXus 5
I would trade the G2 for nexus 5 and sell the g2 and rebuy nexus 5 and you would probably make a profit

Chromecast hdmi dongle?

Anyone got one? What's your options on it?
Thanks

What's it have to do with the N5?
You use it with your n5 obviously
Sent from my Android L Nexus 5 via Tapatalk
Didn't know it was exclusive to the N5..... You can use use it on every phone including iPhone.
Should of posted in the general Q&A.

Works great. My wife uses it to watch shows while she works out on her iPad. Works real well on the n5 too

it's awesome, install plex, Netflix and you can "tell" your Chromecast to play a movie/song/photos on your TV using your N5 from your bed or couch.

I never said it was, but I may have had a reply saying not to bother because for whatever reason the n5 doesnt work or is temperamental with it it would have saved me £30
So as you have nothing useful to say please troll off elsewhere

Calm down His point was, that Chromecast isn't specifically related to the Nexus 5, regardless if you're using it with a Nexus 5 or not. There's a Chromecast forum too.
I know... But if I asked elsewhere then people with N5's would not have necessarily answered

There is a thread specifically for Chromecast. What difference does it make if people with N5 answered or not?
Because if for some reason the N5 software doesn't work for it then I'd never know and buy one for £30 for no reason
Sent from my Android L Nexus 5 via Tapatalk
Works perfect with my n5. We use it all the time. Mainly for Netflix and YouTube
Sent from my Nexus 5
wow, xda is filled with jerks nowadays >.>. Would rather put him down instead of kindly telling him you might get better feedback by posting in the chromcast forum. Jeez
And if you use plex you can use your N5 to search your home server and chromecast a movie from your pc to your tv.
Just buy it, I already have two of them here.
Cheers!
Cool I'll get one bought, thanks to all the useful people! ?
