As titled, has anyone managed to install Google Edition camera and get Photosphere working?
I downloaded the apk from Android Central http://www.androidcentral.com/get-photosphere-non-nexus-devices-google-edition-camera-app.
Then the apk is uploaded to Google Drive. The apk installed fine, but there is no photosphere option in the new camera app.
Anyone solved this?

Accelerometer should be enough, since it is possible to calculate the exact positon of your device from that
Any news??

I don't know if this will help but one option is to try other camera apps. I don't know if that's a rom issue or just that the app is complaining but its worth a shot.
Keyboard.apk and .zip, links are in the article.
Camera.apk! Place in /system/app and fix permissions. Requires root.

- Thanks for providing that mate.
GMail 4.2.apk
4.2 Clock.zip
THIS IS NOT MY WORK - I found both of these mods on pocketnow.com, I haven't been able to find the original creators of these. If anyone knows who they are please link to them on this thread and I'll edit the OP.

Who is the source of this? If I were to use it, I would like to know who to credit.
I would as well, but I can't find it. I read about it in the article that I've linked on pocketnow. I should just point out maybe that it was in no way through my doing that this is available. I just wanted to spread the news, that's all.
Don't know, I installed it and it's working fine on my HTC One X, still testing though.

just flashed,
on my nexus s slimbeam, seems to work, maybe not so smooth as swipe or touchpal but the dictionary seems better
Good to see it works for others too.
I installed the new camera apk (by moving to system/app etc) on my nexus s running blackbean 6 and it works! But it keeps fc'ing when i open sphere camera mode!
I deleted the old gallery app should i have kept it? Or does it fc for you too?
I haven't been able to try the Camera mod yet, I'm only linking so that others can try them. The keyboard however does work for others, and I'll try it soon.
The keyboard is working... strange to write with it if youre not used to it! ;D
But id rly like to try the sphere mode!
What are the exact permissions i news to change and should I delete the original galley apk if I'm doing this

Agreed. Camera works for Cam and Video but not Pano or Sphere (FC). Does anyone know if we must delete something, or fix permissions?
Camera apk on Nexus S i9023 stock 4.1.2 (deodexed-zipaligned) works well... I've found PhotoSphere fix, but after all, it says me: "Your device is not supported yet: Nexus S"...
No FC but this... I think that in two-three days it will work...
PS.. sorry for my english..
PS 2.. even "normal" panorama work.. no FC..

You have to fix permissions after copying it into system/app! Panorama actually works for me just sphere is fc'ing...

Thanks, quoted in the OP. It appears far more people have seen it in the SGS3 thread anyway
Can the camera apk be installed on a rooted phone running ICS?
Works very well. better than Skype for sure. tried voice typing as well, which responds quickly. looks like m gonna use it for quite a long time now.

Hi,
I've tested on my GTab 7" using CM10 and they are great, specially the camera which is awesome.
This is not my work, all credits to the guys which have been working to make it work. Original threat can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964726
Camera + Gallery:
can be found here: http://d-h.st/aIy
Everyting works on the SGT7, except the sphereview.
It seems that it should work, but if you get FC on gallery use this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sosyk2kgvi0ead4/GmsCore.apk
Note: push to /system/app, Change permissions to rw-r--r--, reboot
Keyboard:
can be found here: http://d-h.st/yJj
It introduces a gesture typing like Swype, which needs to be enbled from the menu.
It works really good, and takes swype to a new level.

Thanks a lot for this. The quality of the new camera is really astounding!
to get it working however, after following your steps, I had to delete the old gallery (gallery2.apk in system/app), and set system language to english (US) otherwise I got FCs on AOPK JB. (GmsCore.apk is still needed, and wiping cache/dalvik is recommended as well)
In the original thread you linked to (THX!), there's a newer camera version: 4.2Camera_t04.zip (you linked t02) which can be found at http://d-h.st/aIy. In this version, photosphere works - kinda: for me it takes the first picture, then shows you where to move the cam to, but refuses to take any subsequent pics...
Hi,
I've updated the 1st post.
Tested the Google music and Gmail and work great.

so, i found a flashable zip of 4.2 camara and when i flashed it replaced the stock 4.1 camera with 4.2 camera..
but now, i want 4.2 camera without replacing 4.1 camera .. i want both the camera ..
how shall i do that ??
plz help me .. I am new here and this is my first post.
I'm not sure you can do that. If ever you do manage to retain both apk in your system app, you're going to have force closes all over the place. I suggest you just make up your mind on which camera to use.

i manged to have both apk files in system/app folder without renaming any of the apk.
however, if both apk is there then my android simply ignores 4.1 camera and only 4.2 camera shows up in app menu.
i have seen people having both the camera app working in some youtube videos and thats what i want !
i found some bug in 4.2 camera , i am not able to touch focus and pinch to zoom in 4.2 camera .. thats why i want another alternative
and its good to have photosphere for some occasion.
greenblue's rom has both camera apps if you flash that camera mod. I removed the original one manually so that I only have the one that works with sphere.
why do you want both? What's the original one have that the modded one doesn't?
You CAN have both cameras, but only if your older Gallery in system/app is by default named "Gallery2". Than you flash 4.2 camera and you will have both cameras working. Make sure your ROM and/or gapps you are flashing has "gallery2" in system/app.

Zoom is impossible. You can zoom only with some 3rd party apps. And touch to focus libs are not yet made/optimised for our device, so, we have to wait.

Flash CM10 stable, which has gallery2.apk. Then flash the 4.2 camera zip from this thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35018025&postcount=571 -- and you'll have two cameras.
Whether they both work is a different question, however ....

Apparently there is no option to save to external SD
The Xposed mod that worked before doesn't work on this version released onto the Play Store.
Edit: This xposed mod found here allows you to save pictures taken by the AOSP camera to SD, including the official version released onto the Play Store by Google.
