[4.4.x] Voxive GApps - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Voxive GApps for 4.4.x [DISCONTINUED]
Formerly "Famigo AROMA GApps"
Long time no see, huh? Well, contrary to the Post title, I am back but it's different now! Why?
THESE GApps ARE NOW APART OF Open GApps!
I wanted to cover a few things about this package real quick though!
First, the source code has been moved and updated (the old actually was missing the newer releases!) onto GitLab. One note though is that the APKs themselves are managed using Git-Annex, so you will need that to "complete" your repo. Find the source code here: http://gitlab.com/TeamVoxive/vox_gapps/
Second, Open GApps includes a AROMA version too that will be easy for you guys to migrate over to!
Third, my other project, Vox Remover is on hiatus as it is semi-replaced by Open GApps as not only it includes more removals than the original PA/TK Gapps these were based on but it also includes the ability to remove ANY app (have to configure in config file).
Lastly, I want to mention my "other" project that I am still working on. Vox Variety is a 24-hour variety station playing a lot unique stuff!
You can find Open GApps at http://opengapps.org with daily, auto-generated builds for 4.4x to 5.1x on arm(64) and x86(_64) with a ton of variants!

Create your own Remover Script
QUICK HOW-TO
We will cut everything after a pound sign/hashtag/"#" from the script. That is, all the tutorials, app descriptions, and apps you want to keep; thus, only leaving the script with the files you want to remove
Edit the list below as you see fit, examples:
AdobeReader.apk > Removed (because there is no "#")
#AdobeReader.apk > NOT Removed (because of "#")
AdobeReader.apk #PDF Reader > Removed (but extra text ignored)
CUSTOMIZING
By making a file named junk.txt in the /sdcard/Famigo/remover folder you can add files from anywhere and use wildcards to cut similar items.
Files and folders deleted ARE case-sensitive, examples:
/path/to/file/file.txt > Deletes file.txt
/path/to/folder/ > Deletes folder ... REMEMBER the trailing "/"
/system/app/Apollo.apk > Deletes the system app Apollo ... REMEMBER to scan Everywhere during install when including FULL PATH
/data/app/Facebook.apk > Deletes the user app Facebook (if that's what it's called) ... REMEMBER to scan Everywhere during install when including FULL PATH
Apollo.apk > Deletes the app Apollo ... REMEMBER to Scan /system and/or /data depending on place
Apollo > Deletes apps named Apollo ... REMEMBER to Scan /system and/or /data depending on place
Apo* > Deletes all files starting with "Apo" ... Be CAREFUL with wildcards.
WHAT TO SCAN
During the install, it will ask you which folders to scan. By default, we will only Scan /system/(priv-)app which is where system apps and PARTICULARLY junk apps are. However, you may want to erase user apps that are in /data/app or other system files located elsewhere. Unless you are specifically trying to remove user installed apps - do not check Scan /data/app and unless you are trying to cut a specific file or folder (ringtones, wallpapers, etc) - do not check Scan Everywhere

It deletes anything that I am aware of.
So if for example, you was going to delete the stock Email app; it would also erase Exchange Services.

Is this Gapps package still compatible with a 4.4 ROM? I did not read anywhere if the update to 4.4.1 changed the ROM version requirement.
Thanks for this contribution as I've been looking for a selectable 4.4+ gapps package for a while.

I found this Gapps this morning and installed it on my 4.4.1 Tab2. It is absolutely great!! Having the option of only installing what I really need is fantastic. My only question is if this is a one shot deal or do you intend to update it on a regular basis?

That's great to hear. One suggestion: I don't know if it is possible, but since most of the latest ROMs require you to reinstall the Gapps after flashing the ROM, and since this Gapp requires you to pick and choose which apps you want and don't, it would be very useful to have a way of saving the choices so that you wouldn't have to go through the whole selection process every time you reflash a ROM. Maybe it could be done in a "preprocess" step on the PC or on the SD card as a small saved file?

During the gapps flash process the Aroma UI selections are all saved in two files:
/tmp/aroma/gapps.prop
/tmp/aroma/remover.prop
Just in case you do not know "/tmp" disappears after the flash file completes.
Those would be the files to save. Access to user internal storage is possible assuming if has not been wiped prior to ROM flashing. Of course saving to SD/OTG storage would even get around that situation. All this assumes the two prop files could be retreived from where they are stored before Aroma starts executing. I have been looking at this over the last hour just to see if it is possible.

Thanks for your response. But I was talking about a custom package for just the things I need/want.
You can thank iruiz2 for this
iruiz2 said:
After a mod-master in a Spanish android forum (djMesias in htcmania), I learned to adjust the gapps to my own personal need. The process is very easy to do, I will describe it briefly in case anyone is interested:
1.- You download the gapps of your choice (in my case, gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip)
2.- You open it in your computer (I found no app to do this on the xoom itself ). I use WinRar.
3.- Inside that zip, go to META-INF->com->google->android and double click on updater-script. This will prompt a window to choose the text-editor of your choice (I use Notepad++, you can download freely at http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ )
4.- This script is the one that gets executed when you flash the gapps, if you read it is not difficult to understand. The main line to delete apps of the ROM is the one that goes:
Code:
delete("/system/app/Gallery2.apk","/system/app/Provision.apk","/system/app/QuickSearchBox.apk","/system/app/PlusOne.apk");
And I have changed it to:
Code:
delete("/system/app/Gallery2.apk","/system/app/Provision.apk","/system/app/QuickSearchBox.apk","/system/app/PlusOne.apk","/system/app/Email.apk","/system/app/Exchange.apk","/system/app/HoloSpiralWallpaper.apk","/system/app/Phone.apk","/system/app/TelephonyProvider.apk","/system/app/TitaniumBackup.apk");
Easy, right?
5.- You save the file, and your computer will ask you something like:
Code:
The file "updater-script" has changed. Do you want to update it in the archive?
You answer YES, and it will update the zip file.
6.- As an alternative, you could unzip the gapps file, modify this file, and zip it again, but then it wouldn't be signed. With this method you avoid this problem.
7.- And as a bonus, if you want to have more system apps in your ROM, the only thing you have to do is drag and drop those apks in the /system/app folder of the zip file and they will get installed with the rest of the gapps.
------------------------------
The advantage of doing this process? Gapps do rarely change, so every nightly I flash is followed by this personalized gapps and so I have the ROM to my liking.
Let me know if it works for you or you have any problems... And remember, allways make a nandroid backup BEFORE trying new stuff like this...
If it was helpful... hit the thanks button!!

thanks for the tutorial/explanation. It is very useful.
I do have another question is mind.
What if i need to replace the gapps (old version) with the new one's which "play store" updates. What I mean to say is that can I replace the old version gapps with the new one's available over the play store?
Would that be as easy as mentioned above? (yes in this case, I'm thinking to rename the new one's with the one's older apps have)
(my gut feeling says the answer would be no!)
---------- Post added at 07:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 AM ----------
another one pops up my mind regarding my previous question.
Why doesn't the gapps gets updated as the new version comes along?
Why sticking with the older ones? coz at the end user is gonna update his/her app, which is a indirect waste of internal memory

If you need to replace them in the zip. Do so as iruiz explained. Just open the zip, remove the old and put your new ones in. If the filename is different you can rename it or just change the name in the script.
GAPPS is a Google thing. Not a developer thing. Google updates and maintains GAPPS. The devs then change them slightly if need be to fit their devices, like on our xooms using sum links to save space . Or re theme if the dev wanted to re - theme the app, like invert. But yeah. Google pushes them out. Up to them to release them and they usually do that at official Os launches

OLD OP BELOW!
Vox Remover, based on PA GApps Remover by @TKruzze, is a flashable script for rooted Android devices that allow you to remove some bloatware that may come with your ROM.
To use, just flash after your ROM of choice! It will walk you through making the file and it will then remove them. Finally, the Addon.d script will keep them removed across updates without a reflash!

CHANGELOG
Changelog
v5.1
Added CM AudioFX under the existing DSP option.
v5
Version Merge
The Major change in v5 is the fact that Lollipop and KitKat versions are no longer separate. This changes a few things behind the scenes but only one thing up front: A new Version selector dialog that let's you select KitKat or Lollipop! MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT ONE OR IT WON'T REMOVE!!
New Apps
I have added a couple of new apps also!
Euphoria Wallpapers
CyanogenMod's Eleven Music Player
These apps are most likely lollipop only but if you find a KitKat ROM with them, you should be able to remove them!
Other Fixes
Fixed Sorting of CyanogenMod and Other ROM items to be Alphabetical.
Spaces to TABS
NOTE
This is early days for the Mixed Installer and I need all the testing I can get! Please report your issues!
v4-kitkat and v2-lollipop
With v2, you can now restore from the config file so you don't have to edit it every time you flash!
Simply choose RESTORE when you flash to jump straight to the installer.
Want to edit your choices? Tap DON'T RESTORE and you will be greeted with the classic installer!
v3.3.1-kitkat and v1.1.1-lollipop
FIXES BUG IN v3.3-kitkat and v1.1-lollipop, see changelog below!
20141122 releases: v3.1/v3.2-kitkat/v3.3-kitkat and v1-lollipop/v1.1-lollipop
LOLLIPOP VERSION STILL NEEDS TESTING! PLEASE HELP!
NEW FEATURES
All versions
Thanks to a request on XDA, I have added support to remove the Boot Animation. Just select the new option and it will remove the animation, defaulting you back to the one built into the code.
v3.2+ and both Lollipop versions
Also, you can now separately remove Exchange Services so you can still use Exchange accounts in Gmail!
v3.3 and v1.1-lollipop versions
Finally, you can remove AOSPA's Lightbulb/Torch App.
BUGS
v3.3 and v1.1-lollipop versions
Fixed Git messing up EOL which made development tricky, didn't impact end users.
All versions
Wouldn't flash in some recoveries like the MultiROM one because it didn't have an updater script file. I added a dummy file and now it works.
All versions
When I based this project off of the PA GApps Easy Config script I was working on, I accidentally left some items in the config script named "aosp_prop" instead of "gapps_prop". To make it easier, I renamed both to just "prop".
CLEAN UP
All versions
I did some misc. cleanup including:
Changing the author name to my new username: "bgiesing"
In config script, fixed leftover PA GApps config name and replaced with Vox Remover.
In the Install Script, I removed some extra headers and the part that looks for your text file as it is always in the same place now.
v3
AROMA Installer: The zip is now using AROMA! That means that you can use a simple click interface to config your choices.
One ZIP! I figured out how to run the current script from AROMA and show output which means you don't need two ZIPs! Flash one for everything!
Added a request: PhotoPhase Live Wallpaper
Combined: Development and SpareParts into one entry as if you are going to remove one, you are most likely going to remove the other.
Fixed: Addon.d Script! In the older releases, there were two problems with the script. The first was the ZIP not installing it on your device which means it can't work at all. The second is that even if you copied over the script manually, the items to restore were in the "restore" section and not "pre-restore" and this caused things like AOSPA's script to not restore completely!
v2
Fix SlimIRC and PAC-Man apps not removing
First Public release
v1
BETA Release, Initial Release
Reserved

this looking helpful!
No instructions on how to install/flash? I understand you based your work on TKRuzze's GApps Remover but it might be wise to add instruction in your original post as to how and when to flash your zip and/or would it conflict with TKRuzze's and the likes of those kind of questions.
So far, I'm liking this project.

There is instructions, it tells you how to make the text file and to flash, if you don't know how to flash, then you shouldn't be using custom ROMs!
As for possible conflicts, they both supplement each other, one removes GApps and the other removes stock apps! They are safe to use together!

If I didn't know how to flash, I couldn't use a custom ROM in the first place.
In any case, I must have missed the the "when to flash" bit in your OP and, on that front, this project looks even more promising.

Okay guys, here is a little bit of a news update!
I am still working on this, I just need a suggestion on apps that you guys want removed!
Secondly, I am in contact with @osm0sis to make an AROMA zip that will create a file for the new AOSPA shell GApps! This will save people the trouble of figuring out how to correctly make the text file. Hopefully, I can also make one for the remover!
I just released an AROMA zip to make the text file for PA GApps remover, I am going to try to have one up for Vox remover eventually!
dotmaniac said:
Me, @hlxanthus, and @osm0sis have been working on an easy config tool for making the .gapps-remove (soon .gapps-config) file. @hlxanthus has already posted a few versions and now here is the next step.
Download pa_gapps_config-20140916b.zip
Compared to his versions, the interface is completely slimmed down and the ZIP is smaller. How? Well, I used my base which is categorized and has a better file structure. The ZIP is smaller thanks to a few things: One includes less words in script files. An example is resread instead of zipread. This allows you to not have to enter the full file path. Secondly, he added a Splash image and I ran it through a PNG compressor. Before it was 520 KB and is now 130 KB. Third, my base doesn't include extra themes and icons that make up most AROMA zips.
Thanks to @osm0sis and @hlxanthus for ideas, shell help, and AROMA help. Specifically @hlxanthus for the backup code and verification screens. Also @osm0sis for the grep -w flag hint and help for other projects I have done.

CM Home, Cell Broadcast, and CM account are essential for device use, aka if you remove them, your device won't work.
There is no such thing as the CM Video Editor... The video editor included in CM is the AOSP Movie Studio.
Also, Spare parts and Development are two separate apps. They both are advanced tools for app development.

Exchange services are there.
The keyboard we don't allow to remove because if you don't install a keyboard, you will be unable to type!
Camera I'll have to think about.
The live wallpapers are there, they just may have different names. Black hole is actually called Galaxy4.
Basic live wallpapers (I think) include Nexus. Spectrum is a part of Visualization Wallpapers.

[APP][ROOT][4.4+]Custom ROM Manager 5.5.0

Custom ROM Manager finds all the ROMs, GApps and other zip files that are downloaded on your device, lets you install or manage them easily. It also helps you visit official sites of some ROMs/GApps from where you can download them or see changelog.
NOTE: This app does not search the internet for ROMs, GApps and other mods for your device. You have to download them from their respective sites yourself to your device. Then this app will take care of the rest.
Screenshots
Check screenshots tab
Key Features
Finds all the zip files on your device - Custom ROM Manager features multiple file searching algorithms to find the zip files on your device. They are fast, customizable or both fast and customizable at the same time. Users can even choose their file searching technique to their liking.
Sorting and grouping of zip files - After zip files have been found, app sorts and groups them to their appropriate category, like detects which of them are ROMs, GApps etc. It can even detect the properties of a ROM/GApp, like their build dates, version, whether or not they are OFFICIAL builds and what not. The techniques used are efficient and smart.
Popular ROMs/GApps - The app shows list of popular ROMs/GApps. They are selected based on observations of the most popular and most user responded ROM threads across the XDA forums for top devices, and they are listed alphabetically in the app. App is also capable of detecting other ROMs, which will be listed in the "Other ROMs" category.
Official information for popular ROMs/GApps - For all the popular ROMs/GApps listed, you can even check their official information. Like their official sites, download pages etc. It can even check whether your device is officially supported or not, and depending on this, it will open download page for your device when you visit their download page.
Disclaimer - The app makes use of the information that is already available on the internet. It does not use any unauthorized or confidential data. The links are also opened in an external web browser of user's choice, not in some in-app browser or something like that.
Manage your ROMs/GApps - Under each popular ROM/GApp listing, you can see the builds present on your device listed their. Like all your LineageOS ROMs gets listed under "LineageOS" category. You can view them in any way, view them in sorted order based on their build dates or version, or see only unofficial ROMs, or official ROMs. You can delete them, view them etc.
Install them - And finally, you can select them for flashing/installation. This is arguably the most significant feature of the app. You can choose any number of zips for flashing, you can specify which partitions to be wiped before each zip is flashed. You can modify your selection in any way you want, like re-order your selection, delete any entry and what not. And finally, when you confirm, device will boot into (TWRP) recovery, flashing the zips in the very order you selected.
To see the complete feature list, visit the play store page or XDA Labs page.

Well I am not much acquainted with Xposed and its modules coz I don't use it, but I remember they are .apk's.
Can you link me to those zip files which you are talking about, so that I can take a look and add it in next update?

This
And sorry I just forgot that modules are apk
And if there is way to get kernels differently, is also welcomed.
And sorry for making so many requests!

We will see about xposed.
And custom kernel support is not possible because various devices have various custom kernel, sorting them would be simply not possible..

Great app.
Very useful especially for beginners.
But I have 4 main requests that will improve the app :
1_it's really bothering that every time I want to launch the app it scans for zip files, it takes a lot of time especially for the low-end phones and for phones that have large Memory.
Maybe you should make it saves the path of the zips and names and add a refresh button in the AppBar in case we add new zip.
2_Add wipe davlik-cache,
It's really needed when flashing modes.
3_maybe in the future you should add an options to explore the zip and extract some files.
4_add a new layout for backup and restore specific files from system (build.prop_framework-res....etc) or the whole ROM and save it as a flashable zip in case the flashed ROM has bootloop or some problem you can restore it form recovery.
Sorry for asking a lot I know it's the first release and that is a lot to ask.
So far the app works great and the design is simple and beautiful as usual (I know from your previous apps)
Thanks for your hard work
Great app UI and Idea, but on my Nexus 6 XOSP 6.3, It doesnt detect anything. I give the root access and storage permission, but it stays at "uhh, nothing here". And thats really it. Any idea? Is there some folder i need to put my zips in?(like delta uses). Thanks!

Sorry for late reply, I was busy in the mean time with M and N bringups for some devices.
In Marshmallow ROMs, there is a problem detecting internal storage, which will be fixed in next update, which will come very soon.
Edit: 1.5 is up, check labs
Update 2.5
With previous update (2.0 and 2.1), app was recoded from scratch, resulting in many optimizations and bug fixes.
For example, with 2.0, came better storage detection logic and faster file scanning algorithm, while 2.1 added more modern UI elements.
With 2.5 comes many of the requested features like Zip scan caching, separate option for dalvik cache, and new features like search, respective logos for popular custom ROMs etc.
Please refer to XDA Labs for full changelog.
And do rate and review .
Version 3.0 was released with many cool features.
- Zip selection for flashing was totally revamped. When you tap a card, it will now flip and you will see various partitions you can wipe. Select any if you want to and then tap the card back, it will flip back and notify that the zip has been selected for flashing. And now you can even update what you want to wipe by tapping one of the already selected card back and re-doing the drill. You can even remove it from the flash queue.
- The UI where you are shown what you are going to flash (i.e flash queue) is also revamped.
- Statistics section is also revamped, now shows total size each class of zip is consuming.
- You can also perform TWRP backup and restore operations from the app.
- Some SU related issues (especially on newer security models) were fixed.
- There are always under the hood performance improvements and cleanups.
And all this feature additions barely saw the app size rising. Do check the new screenshots under screenshots tab.
And btw, Custom ROM Manager was released in Play Store too, few days back.

Maybe was i to lazy to find it, but it took already a lot of Time to find the "Custom ROM Manager". How can i add My LIGHT PATCH to the Patch Section of Your Project? I wold like to push Your App by default alongside with My Patch in the Future to use it as kind of OTA Updater. Maybe could You direct Me, or do i even have something new for You? (Checking build.prop for the Patch Version so the App can advise a Update if needed!?)
Would be cool to be Part of that! I'm really looking forward to contribute to it...

[ROM][7.1][UNOFFICIAL][grouper] CM14.1 for Nexus 7 2012

[ROM][7.1][UNOFFICIAL] CM14.1 for Nexus 7 2012 (grouper)
*** Disclamer
By downloading and installing this ROM you agree that you do so at
your own risk, and that you understand that it probably voids your
warranty. (But does anyone still have an active warranty on this 2012
device?)
Introduction
@AndDiSa's AOSP 7 builds look pretty nice, but I needed something that seamlessly upgrades from CM13. @GtrCraft who provided our CM13 builds has moved on to other devices, so we need a new CM maintainer. I may not be the right person for that job... but I can at least share the build I made for myself. Perhaps someone will be motivated to join the fun or even take over.
Installation instructions
Back up your data and previous ROM with TWRP 3.0.2.
Download from link below.
Wipe system, cache, dalvik.
Also wipe data unless you are coming from CM13.
Install the ROM.
Optionally add opengapps-pico.
With default settings it will give an error about insufficient space. To avoid that, first copy this gapps-config-grouper.txt file, perhaps edit it to your taste (instructions here), then copy to the device in the same directory as the opengapps zip. The opengapps updater-script will look for it there when you install opengapps.
Reboot.
WAIT for system to settle before you decide it is slow. Some of the app optimization which used to happen during initial boot now seems to happen in the background. When it's finished, responsiveness will improve.

seems to be pretty stable so far but i cant get pico gapps to install even after installing the rom with the gapps-config.
There is a 3.4 kernel build for grouper which was helpful for cm13. Can you incorporate that into your build ?
why is this not even on development thread?
is this based on anddisa's device, vendor trees? cuz that build is super fast. i am downloading anyway.

Sorry about that. I meant to say .gapps-config goes with the gapps zip, not with the ROM. Corrected, and also edited for clarity. If it still doesn't work for you, look at the log file it generates in the same folder as the zip, and make sure it says it read your config file.

I had originally put it in development, but it took me too long to fill in the devdb new project page... after it made me reload the page and reenter some things, apparently I wound up in general by mistake.

Yes, when I saw how fast @AndDiSa's AOSP 7 ROM was, I had to try a CM14 build. I'm using his kernel and vendor trees, and many of his recent device tree commits cherry-picked into a fork of @GtrCraft's CM13 device tree.
Requested mods to move this to development section.
Also can't install gapps with the given script. Anyone up for new gapps zip?

Please pastebin your resulting open_gapps_log.txt, and send me the link . You should find the log file on the device in the directory where you had put the gapps zip and config files. For comparison, mine is here.

will post it in the evening, i dont think gapps is picking up the config file, should the config file go inside the zip file? i am just pasting it outside the zip file.
Frankly the ROM is working fine, however i have yet to lock gps and test it which is my main usage.
After seeing CM booting, i would love to see other derived ROMs (AICp, RR etc)
Maybe you can post a guide others may build it too (i dont have the disk space or the bandwidth to do it anyway)

Not in the zip file... Just alongside, in the same folder on the device (or usb stick if you install via OTG) where the Gapps zip is.

The config files name needs to be "gapps-config.txt" or ".gapps-config". I just tried the first option an gapps installed just fine!

I was having issues as well with the config file. I tried putting it in all kinds of places, but no dice.
I ended up using the Aroma Open Gapps package which worked great.
Haven't tried much on this ROM yet, but things feel snappy.

ah yes.. Aroma Gapps, which keeps on cancelling this huge package. oh well will try renaming the text file
---------- Post added at 01:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:49 PM ----------
ok this was even more weird, i copied the files in a separate directory (the config file was in txt format as suggested by @gothier) and this worked. earlier everything was in the root directory and nothing worked no matter was was the file extension, hidden or not.
Thanks OP.
I've successfully installed the ROM on my Grouper device.
Also, I've installed Opengapps via CF's Flashfire app and it worked very well.
Thank you for the rom.
I updated from CM13, install gapps with config , only rename it to ".gapps-config-grouper". I use all from USB drive via OTG for all my android devices.
All work fine.
Even in pico gapps package I had to exclude some apps so it could be installed. I've written in in gapps-config.txt this way:
GoogleTTS
calsync

[ROM] iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 for LGV521 - Rooted, busybox, init.d, debloated, etc...

***/
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 is a light, clean and fast custom rom designed for the Lg G Pad X 8.0 (T-Mobile variant only) and it's aim is to become a replacement for the default system of this device.
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 it is light because it only takes 519.8Mb of disk space which is a big difference when you compare the 1.2Gb of a stock rom, it is clean because it only contains the essential apps to make it work properly and it is faster because the whole system have been 100% optimized.
iPioneer it have been designed with the User Freedom in mind, it only provides you with the basic OS so you can do what you need to do on top of that.
Features:
Based on stock (10c)
Rooted
Busyboxed
Init.d Support
Extremely debloated (very serious)
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Nova as default launcher
Installation instructions:
Download the rom to your desire location (link to download to the end of this post).
Boot into Twrp recovery and do a standard wipe (factory reset).
Install the downloaded rom .zip.
Reboot the device.
Be patient, is going to take more time than a regular stock rom to boot into the system, at first is going to be stuck at T-Mobile logo but after few seconds is going to enter into App Optimization mode and after that you will be able to setup your system.
Enjoy it.
First things to do after you install this rom:
Add your google account (if you didn't complete that step at the first setup).
Download your favorite app manager (Rom Toolbox, Titanium, etc.).
Freeze the application called App Updates in order to stop the system update beacon for OTA. I removed 3 core apps in order to stop OTAs but it seems to be very integrated with the system, there is no way I can remove it from the rom without breaking the system. This is the most practical way to my knowledge right now.
Optionals things to do after you install this rom:
You can uninstall Nova Launcher if you want as is not part of the system apps, but before you need to install your favorite launcher. If you don't install another launcher and remove Nova you will have a broken system and most likely you'll have to re-flash the rom.
On purpose bugs and missing options:
On purpose bugs are bugs that comes when you remove a functionality from the system but it can not be removed from a third party component, example: LG VPN app it has been removed but the options remains in the Settings of the device and when you tap that option you will provoke a crash event, the way to resolve this is to decode the third party component (very difficult) or reinstall the missing part (in this case the LG VPN app).
iPioneer Slim 0.1 it comes without some apps that can not be removed from the system setting options, this is like that because I believe that these apps are not necessary for all people, if someone need them they can be downloaded/replaced from the Play Store or I will provide a flashable file with these apps so you can install them.
On Purpose bugs (located at settings):
From the Share & Connect menu:
File Sharing that contains BLE and Android Beam doesn't work, package SmartShare it has been removed.
Media Server (DLNA) doesn't work, package SmartShare that also contains SmartShare.MediaServer it has been removed.
Lg Airdrive doesn't work, package LGAirDrive & LGAirDriveSettings were removed.
From More>VPN menu:
LG VPN doesn't work, package VpnClient_LG it has been removed. Basic VPN it works.
From Display menu:
Home screen doesn't work, packages LGHome, HomeSelector, LGHome_Theme_Optimus, com.lge.launcher3, com.lge.launcher2.theme.optimus were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.
Missing options (located at settings):
Smart Cleaning not present, package LGSpringCleaning it has been removed.
Cloud (cloud integration in settings) not present, package CloudHub (maybe dependant on SmartShare package) it has been removed, please also note that this cloud integration it was integrated on the stock File Manager, so... if you want a full integration of the Cloud service on settings maybe you will have to install the stock File Manager provided by LGFileManager package.
From Backup & reset menu:
LG Backup is not present, packages LGBackupLauncher and LGBackup were removed.
From About tablet menu:
Update Center and its content (App updates & System updates) is not present, packages com.lge.appbox.client (app updates), com.lge.updatecenter & LGUpdateCenter (main menu for updates) were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.Flashable zip with system apps:
Coming soon when I have a free time.
What to do if you get the OTA notification:
Freeze the app called App Updates with your favorite app manager.
With your favorite file manager go to /cache and delete the update.zip (the downloaded ota).
Tap on Restart & Install button on OTA pop-up, the pop-up it will start counting to 0 in order to restart but your device won't restart because there are 3 core apps removed from this rom plus 1 app that you just disabled (all these 4 app controls the OTA), the notification is just gonna disappear, push recent button and clear the ota pop-up window.
Bugs Report:
If you find a bug in this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Bug Report" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.
Feature Request:
If you want a feature to be added into future revisions of this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Feature Request" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.

How fast it can go is a subjective matter:
It will depend on hardware lifetime span (how you use it and how other people use this tablet).
It will depend how much apps and content you put in it (the more things you download the more slow android is gonna be, this is kind a Swap area).
I did not do a benchmark, when I declared that is faster than a stock rom is because that speed response enhacement it comes based on the Deodex and Zipalign process. It can be or maybe not noticeable to your eyes but based on deodex and zipalign process is for sure that is faster than an odex and not-zipaligned rom.
The best answer is that you need to try it on your own and see the difference.

Please only select the apps that you really need or you really think that should comes with the next revision of iPioneer Slim rom.
This will help me to build a better version with features that users needs.
C'mon guys... only 3 users have use the poll...
I need more data background in order to release a new version of the Slim line version (may be the last one).
All V521 users please contribute with this.
Right now I'm testing a new build that it seems to have success stoping ota download and notification & I have removed even more bloat background packages.
As of today I start the syncing process of CyanogenMod for our device, so all I ask is that V521 users vote in the poll so I can build and release what I think it would be the last Slim version (iPioneer Slim 0.2) based on users needs.
Once I start the developtment with CM I will not pay attentions to the Stock & Slim version until I finish with what is gonna become iPioneer CM 13.
Thank you for your attention guys.
BTW: sorry for my english, I try so hard to write all this in a good way. Arriba Mexico Papa!!!

Another reason is not many users are interested enough in a slimmed stock rom. The benefits of a slimmed stock rom may include less system storage usage. But the free uped system storage is not accessible for users to use as data storage anyway. Speedwise, I wouldn't expect noticeable improvement from a slimmed stock rom. As a result, the benefits of a slimmed stock rom is not enough to draw users' attention or interest.
I am a flashholic but I actually not interested in slimmed stock at all because I already have root.
I personally advise you to not spend too much time on modified stock rom.
I appreciate your work and look forward to your future possible cm rom, which I will definitely try it out and will draw many g pad x users here. And don't forget there is a bounty for custom roms like cm.

You are right about working in a stock version. The reason why I'm doing this is because we all know that CM most of the time has bugs, bluetooh problems, camera issues, data conectivity troubles, etc...
Sooooo, if the version of CM I'm going to compile it results with many bugs there is gonna be the option to go back to stock slimed or stock bloated.
I can build a CM verion but Im not the kind of guy who inverts his time in CODE MODIFICATION, so hopefully the build it comes with no bugs at all or at least no major bugs.
The other alternative is that I can sync, compile and build and one more guys can do the bug fixes.

The other alternative is that I can sync, compile and build and one more guys can do the bug fixes.

That would be great! I think if you took a poll most people would prefer a CM build to a slimmed down stock build.

Yeah, I know that. Wish me luck.
Right now I'm stuck trying to get the Blobs for this device and compiling the kernel so I can build the CM recovery, once I have the recovery done I can start compiling CM and start testing.
I'm trying to by pass the kernel (as is not need it right now to build the recovery) but for some reason the system is demanding an standard and working kernel... weird...
But honestly speaking is gonna take lot of time. So be patient guys.

There is already a TWRP recovery for v521. Why you need to compile cm recovery?

Ik, is just a prebuilt because our device doesnt have a device tree or structure already, so making this at first is gonna help me to buil the cm zip.
Is not need it if a device tree already exist but not in this case, just see it like a pretesting of code for this device.
When I try to compile this recovery things are gonna break so you get info of what is missing, what you need, log, etc... So you fix everything you can in this step and then you build the cm.zip in a better way (less issues).

device tree has been around for a while, it obviously will need some renaming to work for cm source but its a good foundation to start with.

These are your device tree for twrp 4 b3 right?
Let me see if I can work with that, I was almost done building the cm.recovery and fixing some boot.img issues but if I can take your files that would save time.
Did you forked that device tree or u just build it from scratch?
If you forked them, from what device?
I was thinking on pulling the v500 just to figure out some sort of missing info I havent been able to catch from ramdisk.

i built it from scratch, id be careful looking too much at the v500, it's a snapdragon 600 SOC which is very old and is a quad core. the 615 in the g pad x is octacore and much newer. even the ramdisk is going to have big differences in how its handled.
