What screwdriver do I need for Samsung galaxy nexus? - General Questions and Answers

I need to replace the USB port. I ordered a set online that said they were for any and all cell phones which isn't true. I have a T 3,4,5 and 6 and they are too big.

Get the official Samsung one and don't mess around with any of the third party ones. It's expensive, but from everything I've read it's the only one that really works. Make sure you get the 11 pin for the S3, NOT the 5 pin.

Yeh that's the one I bought awhile back but its crap, every few seconds it drops out.

Are you sure it was the official Samsung one? I only ask because I ordered what was advertised as the official one on Amazon but it wasn't.
I actually ended up getting a mini hdmi cable for my old Droid X to hook up to the tv since it was cheaper and it works great.

Neither. Go for a nexus phone. Nexus s/galaxy nexus/nexus 4.
Bought Galaxy Nexus a year ago for the same purpose, worked like a charm for me. I would suggest to go with Nexus too. There are very popular and hacker friendly.
Strictly for hacking/dev-ing, the Nexus 4/Galaxy Nexus. For hacking/dev-ing while retaining a lot of common features (removable battery, expandable storage), Galaxy S3 or Note 2.
Thats right. Nexus is best

Reading & comprehension appear to be mutually exclusive around these parts. I've never heard of a Samsung duos so I'm taking a gander that the OP means an "S" class Samsung with duo (sic) cores.

I think the Galaxy Nexus/Nexus 4 is the best choice, because you get always the newest updates.
When ubuntu phone is released, you can also develop for ubuntu phone.

i would also rather go for a nexus device instead of the 2 other devices, there are plenty of documentations and drivers for them and you can also run ubuntu on it. perfect for hacking around.
The google phones are the path of least resistance for hacking. They make things easier than 3rd parties who don't care about users who want to unlock or root their phones.

Yes, multi-window, smart stay, S beam are all available on the S IV. Very unnecessary thread though.
then have a mod delete it...I was just happy to see the thing in person

I think the thread is necessary. It's nice to see the actual phone up and ready for a carrier. Means we're that much closer to it being released.
So thanks!

Why couldn't it be the international, Sprint, or T-Mobile variant? Just because it isn't Verizon-branded doesn't mean it's AT&T's. I mean, I hope it is, but I really doubt it.

this is a picture I took...the connection to wifi is because ATT phones automatically connect to ATT hotspots so u can't see the 4G logo to verify...this was at an ATT store in Durham, NC where I'm at for training on the new BB Z10

I sold my Note 3 to pay for the M8, yes. Had the Note 2 before that, too.

Sold mine on Swappa. Got less than what I wanted, but it's all good. I definitely got my money's worth out of my Note 3. There just wasn't anything too remarkably different from the Note 2 and Note 3. I like trying different phones. I swap between this and my Moto X. I should be good now until I get the new X coming out later in the year, now. I am taking a break from Samsung products
Man I would love to get rid of my note 3 for the m8... just can't afford it.

I got the M8 off contract for $600 and sold my Note 3 for about $150 less than that. So for the 6 months I used the Note 3, i definitely got my money's worth (I bought the Note 3 on contract pricing).
Same here, I went gs3 to note 2 to sg4 to note 3 now to m8...couldn't be happier. I wanted to use the s pen more, just didn't find it was all that functional. Really love the idea of it, but I rarely took notes with it and other than that, really just kept it in the phone.
I'm thinking of making a mass thread called "what phone did you come from and how does it compare?". I just love conversations like this on xda XD
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
Yeah I came from the note 3 and I still have it until I decide which I like better. Part of me misses the size as it's hard to get used to smaller size. I'm having issues typing but I'm sure that will get easier. I will say this phone feels so much nicer in the hand. Anybody tried that light bright case yet?
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
I have the "light brite" case. It's actually really nice.I'm used to using the sview case but I like this case much better just for the different look it has. The flap is a little annoying but I figure it will get worn in and be a little better awhile

No headphones!

So over and over Verizon some how, some way finds a way to screw us, its customers, over. I opened up my box expecting there to be a new pair of Samsung ear buds in there. Nope. Verizon has done it again by taking away features that they think aren't necessary. What gives them the right to do this? I mean. Really? What idiot at Verizon decided that this was a good idea?

Yeah I know I got some from Amazon last year that are great and were only like $20. From Japan or somewhere they sound much better then the Samsung cheap ones
Maybe they do it to shave some $ off the price? I think all the other carriers have headphones and if I'm not mistaken, Verizon note 5 is the cheapest of all? Grasping for a logical answer.

I understand the cost to make. Truthfully the whole phone probably costs less than $100 to make. I was talking about the full price of the phone being cheaper than the other carriers. Listen, I agree....we should get the headphones. I was just trying to think why they don't. Its the only reason I could come up with.

Note series doesn't come with headphones. S series do. Its been that way for a while. Samsung rep confirmed. Note users are generally more business use due to the stylus for signatures etc while the S series is more for the user to use on an arm band while exercising or for the general use of entertainment.

The only thing good about the Samsung stock headphones is that you can increase the horrible volume from the Note 4 with them (Perhaps the volume is better on the 5), however, since they generally break in a week, a decent pair of bluetooth ones make a world of difference.
You've spent good money on the phone, might as well spend a few more and buy some headphones. I use Jaybird Bluebuds X. <3 them.
