[Q] anandtech review? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So does anyone know if / when the anandtech review of the nexus 5 will be released? Can't find it.

And why exactly would you need it? I think there is already every information imaginable on the forums or in other reviews.

Because i would like to read it.. Do i really need to list reasons now why i'm looking for a review?

Really surprising there is no review. Guess they decided the nexus was not worth it.

No, I've just been wondering that if you were looking for something specific we could provide it

If you look at Brian Klug's twitter feed (@nerdtalker), you'll notice that he's both working on it and sick of people asking about it. At one point he made a joke about adding 300 minutes delay every time someone asks.

No, the anandtech review are just an interesting read and typically a lot more detailed than other reviews, that's why i've been looking forward to it.

Great! I've been waiting for it too. :good:
People who matter listen to what Brian Klug has to say, so if there's something that needs improving and he points it out, there's a chance something will be done about it.
Edit:
Great review, as expected!
"Nexus 5 has the best calibrated display I’ve seen so far in any Android handset."
High praise indeed.

Google play video app is updated

So I usually dont play attention to reviews for an app but this one got my attnetion. The app on the market has over 2000 1 star reviews and 99% of them are complaining that it doesnt work on rooted phones.
So my question is, if you are smart enough to root your damn phone why are you stupid to understand it wont work on devices that don't support DRM security features anymore? So stupid....
oh and its not like those people gonna rent a movie from the store anyways
I think the 1 star reviews are more of a 'protest' rather than them not actually understanding about DRM Security features.

Apologies, I meant the ratings specifically. Some of the reviews are certainly daft though.

No need to apologize
I just don't understand it and was hoping people might provide an answer.

The Android Arcade - Android gaming blog

hey folks,
I started a new blog dedicated to Android gaming news and reviews. I know what you're probably thinking, yet another gaming blog. Even so, I would love for you guys to just take a peak. It's called The Android Arcade. I know there have been folks trying to start up a blog but fail to make it through their first month but my team and I are seeing this to the end. I have staffed the site with great writers and we publish articles at least twice in a day (more as folks start discovering us).
We have also created a dedicated game section where you can quickly see which games are worth your time. Think of it as a curation of the noteworthy games. The list is scarce at the moment but we'll be adding a lot more soon. The game section could be found at:
http://games.theandroidarcade.com
So I hope you guys stop by and check us out. If you have any suggestions or games you'd like us to cover, please let u know. A phone/tablet app will be released in the next couple months
Cheers!
I've seen your posts on /r/Gaming every now and then. Keep it up, man! I check every one of your posts! My username on Reddit is Noontoker17.
Not very professional, I know.
I appreciate the support. We like the /r/androidgaming subreddit to be sure to check us out there too!
Yeah, that's what I meant. /r/AndroidGaming. Whoops.
Looks a lot more professional than Droid Gamers
Hey, I've got a few games up on the Play Store. Two of them are in my sig. Any chance of them getting coverage on your new blog?
Be sure to hit the contact us button on the site to submit games. Thanks!!

Looks good - you might want to consider doing percentages and recommendations. Works really well the way they do it on theregister.co.uk and when the stick a "recommended" sticker you take note - especially if you're covering a large number of games.
Always good to have some more decent reviews!

help with chinese gsm phone

i'm thinking about buying a chinese gsm/dual-sim phone, but i really don't know much about them. i 've done a bit of research on them, and came across a gnex clone (MT6575, approx $150) but other than that, i have no idea what to get or even where to look. i've looked at lightinthebox.com, but would like some suggestions and/or advice. does anyone have experience with these (bootleg) things? i'm weary of buying one as i've not been able to find reviews that i trust.

N4 - Battery Pack Case

Maybe too soon to be asking but has anyone seen one advertised yet or reached out to vendors for possible products coming to market in the near term? I haven't found anything. Just curious to see what everyone is finding out in their travels(searches)

It is the only thing holding me back from getting an N4, aside from the 10 week wait on the play store! I reached out to some vendors but they seem to be sitting on the sidelines with this one.

Dual boot Nexus 5 Android / Windows 8.x

Not sure of this is the right spot to ask this question. OK so here is the deal. My employer wants us to support Windows Phone 8.x. Well kind of difficult when you don't own one. Instead of them buying one for us, instead we have to rely on a stupid desktop emulator from Microsoft. Since MS has finally laxed the rules on what hardware it can be installed on, I was wondering if a Dev would be interested in making one that dual boots on my Nexus 5.

Even on the tabs with keyboard (eg : Transformer Prime) it wasn't possible to make windows 8 runnable.
There's no acces to the sources, so no chances to have the good drivers, etc. So, no, impossible :/

Understandable. Just looked a bit hopeful when there was talk of companies "thinking" about selling dual booting devices.
Thanks all for your input {THREAD CLOSED}

He was a RC sometime back.. Not sure why he isn't anymore.
Not everybody cares about the member class .. You can help and contribute to xda with or without being a RC..

2 reasons why you won't see a windows ROM, and definitely not on xda....
1. If it were possible, I'm sure it would have be done already.
2. It would be pirated obviously.... Aka warez. A no no on XDA.

Ohh Myy.. I must say that's a well constructed reply! I totally agree with you on almost all the points which you've mentioned except a few. But those are your personal opinions about RC tag and I'm nobody to challenge that. You are awesome!
Enough of OT from my side.. :silly:

I agree with you 100%.I've been here since nearly the beginning. This is another account of mine.Unfortunately you and I both know that unless your "thanks" counter is extremely high or you have some title above senior people don't take you serious or even Have some "Team"allegiance. You might not agree with me for what ever reason but that is how most think.
Thank you for your reply.
I believe the OP's question was answered pretty well.Good job everyone.

I agree with the point you have made as well. My posts have been ignored many times in the past in the HTC One X forums and when a RC said the same thing, people followed him. Can't blame them though, it's human nature. Nothing can be done about it!
Seriously, this is my last OT post now! Hehe

Not to really to stay Off Topic here... But @rootSU keep up the great work! :good: I personally appreciate your contributions and you still continue to be a staple in the xda community and have done a lot to benefit many of the fellow members and device forums. I've learned quite a bit from many of your stickies and general post and for that I Thank you!!
As you said... "You need to do what's best for you and by all means be yourself".
Edit:
To the topic at hand... I personally don't think that there will be any new development in porting or dual booting WP8 onto android, as WP8 is closed source. I think the best bet if you want android and windows to dual boot on a device it to look into the all mighty HTC HD2. Which lately you can find on swapa, eBay, Craig's list and etc... For an actually pretty darn recent price these days. I've seen a couple going from around $80 - $120 and they are in decent shape. I have actually consider getting another one just to tinker around with again.. It is a cool and fun device.
