hey folks,
I started a new blog dedicated to Android gaming news and reviews. I know what you're probably thinking, yet another gaming blog. Even so, I would love for you guys to just take a peak. It's called The Android Arcade. I know there have been folks trying to start up a blog but fail to make it through their first month but my team and I are seeing this to the end. I have staffed the site with great writers and we publish articles at least twice in a day (more as folks start discovering us).
We have also created a dedicated game section where you can quickly see which games are worth your time. Think of it as a curation of the noteworthy games. The list is scarce at the moment but we'll be adding a lot more soon. The game section could be found at:
http://games.theandroidarcade.com
So I hope you guys stop by and check us out. If you have any suggestions or games you'd like us to cover, please let u know. A phone/tablet app will be released in the next couple months
Cheers!
I've seen your posts on /r/Gaming every now and then. Keep it up, man! I check every one of your posts! My username on Reddit is Noontoker17.
Not very professional, I know.
I appreciate the support. We like the /r/androidgaming subreddit to be sure to check us out there too!
Yeah, that's what I meant. /r/AndroidGaming. Whoops.
Looks a lot more professional than Droid Gamers
Hey, I've got a few games up on the Play Store. Two of them are in my sig. Any chance of them getting coverage on your new blog?
Be sure to hit the contact us button on the site to submit games. Thanks!!

Looks good - you might want to consider doing percentages and recommendations. Works really well the way they do it on theregister.co.uk and when the stick a "recommended" sticker you take note - especially if you're covering a large number of games.
Always good to have some more decent reviews!

Hey guys, I'm trying something new - every Monday, I round up all the new app and game releases from the past week and post them in a format that I think makes it easy to navigate them and keep up among all the garbage.
This week's roundup is here: Last Week’s Best New Android Apps And Games (10/4/10 – 10/10/10), Now With Screenshots
Please let me know what you think of the format and usefulness of such endeavor.
Great idea. hope you keep it up in spite of the underwhelming response.
sweeet

Actually, it's one of the highest traffic posts of the week, so don't worry - it'll be up every Monday
That's a lot to test and compare each week so I appreciate the effort to do this.

Has anyone tried this? I wish the fascinate had a front facing camera and this seems like the only alternative. Any thoughts?

Jstevenett!
This is Phil Farrand. I invented the Vainworks Stand. I think the Facinate is the same thing as the Galaxy S from AT&T (Wouldn't it be nice if cell phone manufacturers just call the same phone the same name?! ;-)
Anyways, I have tested the Galaxy S from AT&T and included the results on the full Compatibility Chart. Just go to the site, scroll to the bottom and click on the link that says "Click here for more phones and info." (xda won't let me put in a link because I'm new.)
As I recall, the Galaxy S worked pretty well!
I only opened for business last Sunday night (Jan 2, 2011) so there aren't many Stands out there yet. (Vainworks is a small operation. It's just me! No big advertising dollars. No angel invester. But... it's like an epic! So, this should be interesting. ;-)
Have a great day!
Phil

I was just on the website.
awesome vid, Phil
I'll make sure I suggest it to anyone who is in the market for one. It's a creative idea
Hey phil thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if the stand folds up or anything cause I'm looking to use it while traveling and don't want it to break on flights and what not. Thank you!

Wow, just opened on the 2nd, and you're already posting for our phones! Gotta love the internet! thanks for joining up!
@Phil, I wondered if "Fair Grove" in your location didn't mean my little corner of the world, glad to see it does. The Fascinate is a little different than the Captivate, but probably not enough so to be an issue. After reading a bit about this product and who and how it is being produced, I would like to pick one up to test with the Fascinate and write a review. Can you PM me local contact info if I wanted to just pick one up next time I am in Springfield?
Sorry... got distracted!!
Sorry, sorry, sorry I haven't responded
@Jstevenett - unfortunately, the Stand does not fold. I was working on one that folded but I thought I had better start simple since I have never done this before!
@obededom - Thanks for the kind words! It's been an interesting adventure so far. ;-)
@SupraLance - I'd be happy to hand-delivery one. I'll try the PM or you can write me at [email protected]
Does it work well with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc?
My GTab video blog is up and running... I have about 5 or 6 videos so far... the first 3 are the basic clockwork mod rooting, flashing a rom (Vegan 5.1) and flash/market fix. I also did one showing the hulu fix... and I will be posting a new one soon on getting swype running on the GTab.
I have plans to do Rom reviews, apps, and games in the future.
Short quick videos... all in one place.. with XDA forum links to follow.
If you have any suggestions... any good tutorials from the forums that you want me to made a video for... Please visit the blog and let me know!

Nice I bookmarked it. Thanks and I like the site design. Well done!
Thery useful video blog. Thanks!
Sweet, i'm getting my GTAB tomorrow so I'll definitely be checking out your site.
very nice!
Thanks
Thanks for adding to the mix.....
Outstanding! Thanks for the extra work, I'm sure many of us will benefit from it.
I plan to follow advice found on XDA and do the following:
1) Open and run the device stock for a bit.
2) Do the OTA update and evaluate. I may be purchasing one for my mother and I think the updated stock will be plenty for her to check email, do facebook and check the weather?
3) Look at Vegan 5.1 and Supplement as well as Clemsyn's kernel.
4) Look at TNT
5) Have fun with it!
Nice blog. My gTab should be coming in tomorrow so get to play around with it.
I'm a stickler for written directions, but a video to follow is even better! Great work!
Suggestion: Any chance of getting a vid up with setting up nvflash, getting the tab in apx mode, possibly pulling/pushing files from/to the tablet?
Thanks again!
You all rock... thanks for the kudos!!!!
@Dueces99: NVFlash is my only hurdle right now... I consider myself tech savvy but for some reason, I couldn't figure that one out... YET... I'm sure I just need to do some more research, but if anyone knows the best how-to on that I would really appreciate it... because lets face it... the Viewsonic Birds have to go... I've seen that logo over a decade ago...
Thanks again everyone... pass on the good word and I'll keep posting videos!!!!
I just checked out the site. Looks great, good work.
Very nice!
Before I say anything, you know that your site is awesome and that you are awesome.
That said, you're no Steve Jobs. When Steve Jobs first presented the ipad in his conference, you could tell from the videos that he tried very hard to present the strengths and cover up the weaknesses. For instance, everytime he pressed a soft button, he always gave it about half a second for the ipad to respond. In your video, I noticed that you kept pressing it really fast and then having to repress the screen.
Yes, your videos are awesome. But if I were you I wouldn't quit my day job to become a salesman LOL
Excellent site- thank you for your hard work
hahaha!

Very true... This is just a hobby and I do every video in one take... Its more about function over form... I'm sure I spent more time on the logo and intro music than I did the composure of the videos... but for what its worth, I will try to rehears a little more so I don't look entirely like a noob!
When my Gtab comes in tomorrow, your site will be on my list of 'have to learn from'. Thanks, my man!!!
Very nice work, thank you!
Gotcha bookmarked.

Hi guys.
A lot of developers that create some apps are having a problem of advertising them and getting feedback from users (me included). So I think we should help each other by installing, testing, rating and reviewing each other's apps. So any one of you who have their app (with small number of downloads) post it here (google play link) and I will try it and publish a rating and a comment on Google Play.
I don't ask you to do the same and I will do it whether you try my application or not. If you do the same I will be very grateful.
Link to my app: Quote Box v1.1
Thank you.
P.S. You'll get your rating and review as soon as I see it here.
I've released my first app on the market called Select Who? It's an alternative to who draws the shortest straw, coin toss, rolling the dice and spin the bottle.
Everybody puts their finger on the screen and the app will then select one of these at random.
I apologise ahead of time about the adverts I know they are a bit intrusive, I'm trying to think of an alternative.
I would love to get some honest feedback from you about it and any improvements I can make.
Select Who?
I think this thread is a great idea.
I actually run an Android YouTube channel and blog site.
Although i might not be interested in every app idea that may come to this thread, i am more than willing to look at every app and possibly do a great review on it on my channel and site.
In fact i have developers email me all the time to review their apps.
Mostly because it has increased download numbers and a few have reported up to 40% increases in sales the day i post my reviews =)
But i am pretty particular about the app's that i review for my viewers. So don't be offended if i don't review your app =)
You can either email me at [email protected], send me a PM here on XDA or PM me on YouTube.
Good luck to all the dev's =)

Hey, I tried your app.
This is what I wrote: "It's very good idea but It only works for two finger for me. Fix that and I will give 5 stars."
Also maybe to work a little bit on a layout to attract more people, but if you fix "the fingers thing" I will give you 5 stars. Only two fingers recognized on my HTC Desire.
Cheers.

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately this is due to the desire not having true multitouch and only support dual-touch multitouch. I will work on the layout. And left you a review for you app as well

Sure will, and I'll make sure it doesn't look shlt.

In case you have not realized... if at any time I find a game that is xperia play optimized I post it here, whether I think it looks worthwhile or not. If you dont like the game you dont have be such a jerk about it. Your negative comments/attacks are not conducive to the spirit of XDA. I will politely ask that you at least try to keep an open mind. You dont like a game.... ok, understandable. Do I play this game that I have shared... nope... but do I share it for those who may find it interesting... you bet. I will not reply to any more of your comments as I do not want my thread to go down as a negative pissing contest. Please respect this thread, those who are interested in this, those who spend time posting their findings. If you cannot abide by this rule, which is not mine but laid down by the XDA Devs I will have you reported. With that in mind, I am returning this thread back to what it was intended for.. Star Raiders.
Kudos for updating us about an Xperia PLAY enabled game. Please continue to do so.
I've looked at it again and it still looks shlt.
Of course this is entirely my opinion, opinions being of which all forums thrive upon & actively encourage.
It is not intended as a personal attack on you as my 1st post clearly defines.
Please do not continue to actively discourage me from having my own opinion as that is against international human rights legislation and I may have to have you reported.
Just one more check of the play store... Yup, still looks shlt.
