Firstly, you shouldn't compare a Nexus 5 to an iPoop product lol
There are plenty of apps available for White Balance that may do the job you're looking for it to do. If you want a more integrated white balance (not an app), there are plenty of custom ROMs that add different color and resolution than the stock KitKat.

I wouldn't know of any - I have never needed something like this. You'll have to search around at some of the available ROMs and find some that may do it. Check the ROMs section.

You got it all backwards. It's actually the iPhone that needs white balance correction compared to the N5. Just search on Google N5 display calibration results. It's scary accurate.

ok, a few years back, my windows phone had this really cool app, it was a bar across the top that was 1 or 2 pixels tall, multi colored that displayed the amount of battery left. someone told me it was in a rom, but I can't find it to save my life. maybe one of you has seen it or knows which mod, or anything about it, because I would LOVE to have that stupid little bar back.
Thanks
Pat.

It's built in to Cyanogen mod, if that's available for your particular decide. Not multi color as far as I know though.

sorry if im mistaken, i dont think this feature is on cyanogen mod. It is however on most of the 'MIUI' roms, i think it is standard on there.
Is this possible to have standalone? This would complete my device.

damn, wish it was standalone.. I'm pretty loyal to my current rom, at least until I get the new samsung infuse or whatever it's called.
+1 here, i still use LvmTopBat in my winmo, in colour and its the best. easy to read and always there.
hoping for a port

If there is any custom kernels you can use Trickster Mod and change what you need to. I just got my G2 yesterday though so i don't know if any are available. Coming from a Note 3 though I love the screen. I hate amoled!

yeah if you are rooted you can use trickstermod or faux apps to adjust all aspects of your phone ie colur /gamm cpu settings, gpu settings there are others available too
the two kernels that are available are in their relevant g2 sections
Try STweaks from Google play, but it wont work with the stock kernel I guess.
Thanks guys for the fast answears but trikster mode and STweaks is not what im searching for.In these apps you can only Downgrade the saturation,I want to increase it just a lil bit,I already told that there is an app in my asus tablet called ''Asus splendid'' or something like that and you can adjust the colours with a slider, not like blue red green...I m running AOKP 4.3 now.

need a custom kernel for that. try asking the kernel developers if they're willing to look into this, some color fine tuning would definitely be welcome.

no, it's not that simple. a developer would need to implement the color calibration into his/her kernel (assuming LG has left that "window" opened, some manufacturers lock the display controllers and it takes some skills and reverse engineering to make it work) and then you would need a kernel tuning app that supports this feature too. i do agree, it sucks this feature is not available in one way or another out of the box on android considering how many phones out there have abysmal color calibration.

Hey all, long time lurker and seldom poster. I've been following the progress of most of the custom kernels for our awesome Nexus 5 and there's one thing that I'm still really missing that we had on our Nexus 4. Color and gamma calibration.
I'm just wondering if it's going to be possible to tweak the Nexus 5 screen like we could with the 4. The nexus 4 had a pretty terrible stock display, but with for example paranoid androids color profile the screen was one of the best out there and I'm hoping that we're still going to be able to achieve that.

Hi Everyone,
Just off the bat, this isn't a request for any "best" ROM, what I'm after is recommendations for some ROMs to test that meet the below general outline. Other threads I found through search are often too generic or not along the same criteria I'm after.
I'm a fairly experienced user who, after running many custom ROMs in the past, has been running stock ROM with a custom kernel and Xposed framework (Gravitybox) for a while now. I'd like a similar experience, but would like to see AOSP updates / bugfixes / performance tweak patches from CAF etc. While maintaining stock feel and compatibility (so not CM?). Also would like an easier upgrade path via flashing rather than rolling back to stock for OTA updates etc. Can flash my own bootloaders / radios when the time comes.
Since I use a custom kernel and Xposed for features I don't need any particular features so minimalist would be good. A lot of the ROMs often have their own custom settings managers etc which would be redundant for me. Not afraid to get my hands dirty adding/removing system apps to suit my needs etc.
Any recommendations on where to start? It would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
I would check out some of the roms on here labeled as AOSP, most of them, if not aiming to be next to pure stock are in early stages of development, so should see the latest fixes and updates added to them as time goes on.
Purity/PA might be up your alley.

I've run PA in the past, and found it to be too feature heavy/customized for what I'm after now, with PIE controls, DPI scaling, custom settings panels etc all included. I'll have a look at Purity, thanks.

aosp and caf dont go hand and hand. itll be either aosp or caf. and you never have to "roll back" to stock to get an update, never, there are multiple methods of upgrading without ever having to roll back(even on stock).
Another vote for Purity as it sounds like it would meet your requirements.
Slimkat runs very smoothly and has a "Black Out" feature that works very well and saves you a lot of battery by doing so. Plus its has a smaller DPI so it's gives your phone a new feel while still coming across as stock.

Yeah, it may on devices with AMOLED screens but not traditional LCDs.

Absolutely. AMOLED screens have LED pixels. This means each pixel is its own source of light and on pure black images, no light is needed so the pixels can be turned off.
LCD pixels do not give light. The they get their light from a light panel behind. This panel either gives out light or other doesn't. So whatever colour the pixel is, light still shines through - which is why we don't get pure black on our LCD.
Offtopic ... LED TV's do not have LED pixels. It's still an LCD display but instead of having a full panel create the light behind the display, it has an array of LEDs.

I would recommend cataclysm, it's a flash and forget ROM. Even tho the main thread has been closed due to people asking where Atlantis is, it's up to date and it is super stable and fast, I always return to cataclysm, because it has a nice amount of features yet it feels like stock.
With that in mind, I hope he returns when 4.4.3 gets out so we can be up to date haha.

I'm looking for an app or something that will give me a black theme, icons, most importantly when I open an app (like CNN, PlayStore, etc.) It will have a black background with white text.
I tried using the inversion setting but is then trows off my already black wallpaper to looking white and stuff. I have vision issue which is why I am looking for this.
I am running stock but am rooted. I was Running the carbon rom for this but got tired of installing nightlies for hammerhead. I'm just going to wait until they have a production version.

Just curious, but is the reason for wanting black everything to try and conserve battery life? Because as far as I know that only works for AMOLED displays.

Search black icons in the store, heres one recommendation https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.threekzerothree.softinsetroundicons.black
Use slimROM, a lot of people have this thing for black and holo blue and that is what slim uses, and you can enable darkslim or whatever. I think they have a milestone so you can load that and it will be stable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-slimkat-hammerhead-t2511512
Go for Mahdi ROM and flash Slim GAPS with it.

You already have the Team Blacked Out link so here is a more obscure theming app. This app allows you to override the colors on most Web pages. It works with both browsers and apps that display html pages within the app itself (eg. Flipboard). I use it on both my Nexus 5&10. Read how it works and how to install here:
[HOW-TO] Blacked out theme effect for Web pages (needs root)
A theme able alternative to YouTube which has some additional features is called Viral. Find it on the play store. That app allows no end of UI Color theming.
You can also use the XPosed framework and two modules (Gravity Box and HKTheme Manager) to implement dark themes including Color finer tuning nav and status bars. Here is a dark theme on the playstore which works with HKTheme Manager.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/theme-black-blue-infinitum-theme-t2597690
Good luck
I like to thank everyone for their suggestions. Based on all the information everyone contributed to this thread I was able to customize my phone to work with the dark themes. Again this was requested because of some vision issues I have and despite one individual who decided to rant off without reading why I requested this, everyone else's suggestions help me set up my phone to work perfectly. Thank you all again.
