Smart Hide Calculator is a fully functional calculator app but with a little twist. Once you enter the password(u get to set it on first start of app and can also be changed in future) and press the '=' button then boom you are presented to an interface where you can hide, unhide pictures, videos, documents or files with any file extension placed in a folder on sdcard, and if your device have root you can also hide (freeze) and unhide (un-freeze) apps.
Features:
1.) Everyone will think it as a simple calculator
2.) Hide and Unhide pictures, videos, documents or any other media type
3.) Hide and Unhide apps **ROOT REQUIRED
4). Don't show itself in recent apps
5). In case user forgets the password he can recover it by going into password recovery mode(by pressing 123456789+987654321 in calculator) and providing the secondary password
This is a Beta release. More and more features and improvements will be made available soon. Suggestions are always
welcome.
Note:
1. The secret screen's UI(the one with hide and un-hide buttons) may look a little weird on small screen sizes
2. Refresh gallery button will not work in android kitkat 4.4 (and it is not possible fix this). Don't worry its not even needed and will most probably be removed in future release.

Great Application dude! This really caught be off guard by just reading its functions but I have been using it for the past few days and it has really made my device allot cleaner from the apps I do not care to see as well as freezing undesired bloatware from taking my resources. Thanks dude!
Ps One idea that I think would be nice on a future update would be to be able to send a copy of your passwords to an email address as a backup to ensure that there is a copy of it off device just in case :good:

Yes I am well aware of this bug and its already been fixed. The fix will be rolled out along with last update. And the square root is such that it calculates root of the number on screen. Like pressing square root button on 123 or 123+12 will give square root of 123 and 135 respectively. Whereas the app will force close if you press square root button on just "123+" or any invalid number.
In future its planed to improve the whole mechanism of calculator and also implement features of scientific calculator.

Hi just made an app with my friend ventrix.
PermissionDog lists all the applications you have installed and checks out what permissions each app is using.
Based on these permissions it sets how dangerous the application can be.
PermissionDog also supports realtime protection. Every time you launch an application
a notification pops up and shows how many permissions the app is using
and how dangerous that application is. (in case you missed reading the permissions when you downloaded the app).
You can exclude any app from Real Time Protection (RTP) or disable the RTP service.
It's like a really lightweight antivirus.
Please note that the application is in Beta stage. Is fully functional and hopefully bug free but needs some tweeks.
Serius updates will come to the next few days!

We are looking to make the app as good as it gets. If changing permissions to other apps is doable without rooted phone consider it done.
Gonna try it.

yeah always do it with all my apps ,kinda starting the good karma. Tell me what you think about the app
Great. I think I will give it a try.
UPDATE: Just installed....very nice! I like how you can sort apps by permission danger. Additionally, I like how clicking on a secific permission will list all apps utilizing that particular permission. Of all apps installed I have two with the red dannnger. I was glad the two were the only apps with that permission level but now am assured that no others have it..
This app makes it easy to do quick analysis.
Love the idea of this app as soon as I saw it pop-up on my XDA Twitter feed.
Installed on my HTC Thunderbolt with the latest ROM (no root) but it was hanging and giving me a Force Close/Wait. I do have a lot of apps installed so I thought this might be an issue.
Rebooted my Thunderbolt and it finally loaded okay. Selected Sort by danger and getting another Force Close/Wait. Selected Wait and it finally sorted.
I really like the app and look forward to some tweaks that might resolve some of the delays for us "app hounds".
Thank you for the post. We are aware of that issue and working on it. The problem is fetching application icons is too expensive some times. We working on making the "fetching" async. Plz wait for an update in the next few days
Awesome! I'll keep watching and will continue to provide feedback.
As a suggestion, is it possible/practical to add the standard rotating "clock" so a user will know it is working in the background?
Can't thank you guys enough for this app. Hope you also eventually have a "paid" version so those of us who want to support you and remove the ads can do so.
I agree with BiteMaster
I get a FC everytime I try to uninstall an app from PermissionDog. I have sent the "Report" three times, idk if it helps...

It seems like cyanogen mod has problems with the "com.android.settings/com.android.settings.InstalledAppDetails" activity.

So, now we check if the uninstall activity exists and if not, we open the Android Market to uninstall it from there.

The latest CyanogenMod lets you do just that.

Works on stock Dell Streak 2.2.2
Very simplified method of seeing what has what access.
I wonder about how you calculate the "Danger" level, because i have an app installed that is using only one permission (external_storage) and is rated 4.1. On the other side i have an app that is using four permissions (internet, external_storage, get_accounts, network_state) and that results in rating of 3.5?! I guess lower rating means less risk in using that app?
I would expect an app that uses more permissions to have a higher rating than an app with less permissions.
Btw, i could only start the app once, any further attempt to start it results in a fc (you got a report).
The ability to select text and sharing it seems to be rare in apps for pre-Honeycomb Android versions, so this may be a problem. This app will have limited functionality in those Android versions.

What is it?
Many of you have probably heard of the popular Google Dictionary extension for Google Chrome, which allows you to double click any word on a web page to view its definition. I have found this feature indispensable to my web browsing.
Of course, it's not possible to implement something like this in Android just yet, but this app tries to imitate its functionality. There's no need to open another dictionary app to find definitions anymore!
WordLookup allows you to view word definitions easily as you browse the web, and when using apps. It does require an Internet connection to work, however.
Simply hold&select the word you wish to look up, share it with WordLookup and a small notification popup will show a few definitions for the word! It's that simple!
Here's how to use it:
1- Hold and select the word you'd like to get the definitions.
2- Select the Share button in the menu/Action Bar.
3- Share text to WordLookup.
4- The definitions should show up in a bit as a popup(Toast) notification.
Supported Apps:
-ICS Android Browser
-Google Chrome
-ICS Gmail and Email app
-Pulse
-Many,many others. More will be added in this list.
Right now, this app is only tested on Android 4.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich, as many apps on earlier versions of Android do not support sharing text, your mileage may vary, though. Some parts of the program are still very rough, as this is still a beta.
Upcoming features includes offline dictionaries, and more!
Technical stuff in a nutshell:
This app gets the shared text via an intent and uses the Knicker library to fetch definitions from Wordnik (thanks to their nifty API). It then sends the definitions to a custom Toast pop-up, which is displayed on the bottom of the screen.
Bug reports! Suggestions! Angry Hate Mails!

Question, is it better to use a Toast notification, like now, or switch to a dialog box, which offers more optimization at the expense of more obtrusiveness?

This is a cool idea, but it doesn't really function on my GB TB because the option to share text is limited (as you stated). Still, I'll be following this to see where it goes and I'll definitely give it a spin once I upgrade!
Keep up the work c:
-And a suggestion-
Do you think it would be possible to create an offline version as well and have the word lookups routed through a database in your app instead of online?
I know I'm connected to the internet via wifi and it won't connect... HTC thunderbolt on sfk almost sense 4.0/gingerbread. I could share it and everything though

Hey Meso,
Unfortunately, the limitations on GB seems to be a hard one and cannot be fixed unless the app developer(in the case of the browser, Google) updates it to add sharing, or possibly added into a ROM or something.
And an offline version are upcoming as well, once some flaws with the app gets nailed out. I'm also thinking of using Bing's traslation service to deliver translations in a future version, as well.

Hi, Draw2Dial has been updated to 1.1 fixing a few minor bugs found by users.
People seem to like it so I must say thank you for the nice ratings, reviews and feedback.
Any shortcuts availble?
Is it possible to have a shortcut to launch the gesture field directly without having to press the tab? It would also go nicely combined with an invisible tab.
Just some thoughts. Good start! =]
Hello, thanks for sharing your thoughts about the app. A -almost- invisible tab icon is a great idea and I will get on it soon.
As for the shortcut, do you mean having it instead of the tab, so you can launch the gesture field from certain home screens only?

v1.2
- New customization options (three new service icons)

Useful app that i would love to try. However......
Remembering the "speed dial" numbers is do-able no prob. But would it be possible to have the option of drawing of drawing initials??
To set it up so i could draw JM or CL ect... to get a contact that the app has linked to that input??
Just a thought.
I really like this app it works well but if I may I would like to suggest that if its possible to add the ability to draw out a complete 7 digit number and save it for those occasions when you need to take down a new phone number. I think that kind of functionality would be tremendously useful especially if it can be done from the lock screen. Again just a suggestion.

Awesome app. Patent this right away dude or an OEM is gonna use it as a "new" feature.
Nice app and very useful especially on the lock screen. Suggest that once enabled icon should be invisible from the lockscreen but is running in the background. What do you think?
great app but useless with talkback for my blind dad
very nice idea, couse with ICS and furthermore we lost speed dial in phone app (it was present in froyo and GB)
but it needs work...i tested, it's soo hard to recognize #1 or #9....then for example ...contact was saved #1 ...i draw 5 to test ....it said...there is no contact on 5 but it dials the 1

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the app. I am working on ways to make the handwriting recognition more successful. In the meantime, see if you have better results with different brush sizes.
Hola Guyz !!!
I M CREATING THIS POST TO SPREAD THE NEWS ON XDA !!!
YES THE NEWS IS FROM OTHER SITES !! SO DONT BLAME ME !!
]Nokia may have been a tad too quiet these past few weeks - following the completion of Microsoft's landmark acquisition of its handset business - but that doesn't mean that the legendary Finnish electronics company has altogether dropped its vision of coming up with innovative products and services.
Thanks to Aswin08 !
Sure, Nokia won't be making phones anymore -- but considering its rich history and winning tradition (at least during the height of its glorious Symbian Era), its innovations are bound to go on in other ways.
In fact, just a few hours ago, Nokia shocked the tech community by releasing - of all things - its first ever launcher for Android smartphones simply called Z.
oFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE COMPANY -
"At Nokia we’ve been thinking about ways to make smartphones easier to use, and there’s one problem we’ve thought about a lot; how to find stuff right when you need it. Today, people have an average of 48 apps on their phones, and that number is growing. When you add in contacts, web content, and tasks, it’s easy to see how tricky our devices have become to use.
Did you know every time you shuffle a deck of playing cards, you’re making history? With 52 cards to a deck, the number of possible combinations is so huge that your combination probably never existed before. Our phones are starting to feel this random too.
Finding the right app or contact – your Ace of Spades – constantly changes depending on where you are, what you’re doing, and what time of day it is. We’re introducing a pre-beta version of the Z Launcher to help change this.
As soon as you install and start using Z Launcher, it starts learning what you use throughout the day and automatically surfaces whatever you’re most likely to need at the right moment.
We also added a feature called Scribble – a fast and fun way to find anything on your phone in as little as one second. We’re used to tapping away at our phones to find things – rooting through folders, swiping and scrolling. Scribble makes this easier: Simply draw the first letter of what you’re looking for, right on your screen. Ta da! Z Launcher brings you the right app, contact, or task practically instantaneously. Or, as we like to say, less tapping, more apping."

You may try to add z launcher acc from acc synchronization under setting. But I think time is out,no registration for beta test now.

Hey!
The last time I created an android application, XDA community helped me out in fixing bugs, conveying healthy feedback. I am once again requesting the community to lend their support and help me out iron the bugs and further improve the application.
The motivation behind developing this app was the fact that you have to shell out money to get a decent application for managing your finances. Having spent money on apps previously I thought of coming up with my own version of money manager, which could offer some of the premium functionality for no cost. I don't intend to make it paid or charge for paid features. However, I do request the users to lend in their support and valuable feedback

Here's what Zymky can do as of now:
Ability to record expenses, incomes (Duh!).
Set recurring transactions once and let the app automatically add to database at defined interval.
Understandable charts giving an overview of financials.
Tagged description. No annoying category drop-downs! Prefix any word with # to use that word as a tag.
Mark transaction with location for easier recall.
Defining budget to keep a check on spendings.
Travel mode, for the nomad in you!
Currency Converter
Daily reminders to ensure your don't forget to balance records.
Ability to backup and restore to/from local (phone) storage.
Syncing with Google account for backing up data in Google Drive.
Thank your for your time and effort in advance!
Note - The app is in a nascent stage in terms of features offered. I have a lot planned out for future versions.
Downloading Zymky:
There are 2 ways to get the application:
1. Direct download (same as play store version) - Version 4.0.2
2. Google Play Store - Zymky
Looking forward to your feedback! And please don't forget to rate the app
Changelog Version 4.0.2:
Introducing Currency Converter!
Changelog Version 4.0.1:
Added helper view (check when viewing list of transactions).
Removed annoying "Attempting to sign in" dialog window.
Some general bug squashing.
Changelog Version 4.0.0:
1. Introducing hashtagged description. Anything with # prefix will be marked as a tag!
2. Added option to tag a transaction with location.
3. Added Google App Invite. Now share app details with people easily.
4. Added ability to select transaction for deleting/editing (use long tap).
5. Improved - Event mode is streamlined.
6. Fixed - Google Sign In/Out bug.
7. Removed - Income, Expense analysis (for the time being).
Nicely done! The app has a beautiful design and it looks nice. It would be nice to add a way to set your income and then when you add your expenses, the app can calculate how much budget you have left.
Looking good so far. It will come to good use!

Thanks for the input! Good to know the design is nice
When you say income, do you mean something like a budget which the user can set for every month?

Wow. That UI is amazing.
You got ideas from someone or is this your own? Most developers (including myself) aren't really great at UIs.

UI is one thing I am focussing on since majority of similar applications tend to be more about managing numbers and put less focus on UI/UX itself. Good to know you liked it! Keep the feedback coming

Noted your point way back but couldn't reply earlier. Redid the overview page, it looks completely different now! It would be great if you could check the latest version and see how it goes for you.
And to all those who contributed up till now, thanks a bunch! Keep your reviews flowing
Added version 2.9. Improved a lot of things and added Travel Mode. Hope everyone will like it! And don't forget to share your feedback
Interface
Really lovely interface on this, welcoming and straightforward. The sticky notification is really useful for my ADHD too. Will start using this from tomorrow.
