Hi just made an app with my friend ventrix.
PermissionDog lists all the applications you have installed and checks out what permissions each app is using.
Based on these permissions it sets how dangerous the application can be.
PermissionDog also supports realtime protection. Every time you launch an application
a notification pops up and shows how many permissions the app is using
and how dangerous that application is. (in case you missed reading the permissions when you downloaded the app).
You can exclude any app from Real Time Protection (RTP) or disable the RTP service.
It's like a really lightweight antivirus.
Please note that the application is in Beta stage. Is fully functional and hopefully bug free but needs some tweeks.
Serius updates will come to the next few days!

Looks interesting. Any plans to add the ability to disable/block permissions?
We are looking to make the app as good as it gets. If changing permissions to other apps is doable without rooted phone consider it done.
Gonna try it.
ps: I saw weakwire and Ventrix rate their app themselves in android market. lol

yeah always do it with all my apps ,kinda starting the good karma. Tell me what you think about the app
Great. I think I will give it a try.
UPDATE: Just installed....very nice! I like how you can sort apps by permission danger. Additionally, I like how clicking on a secific permission will list all apps utilizing that particular permission. Of all apps installed I have two with the red dannnger. I was glad the two were the only apps with that permission level but now am assured that no others have it..
This app makes it easy to do quick analysis.
Love the idea of this app as soon as I saw it pop-up on my XDA Twitter feed.
Installed on my HTC Thunderbolt with the latest ROM (no root) but it was hanging and giving me a Force Close/Wait. I do have a lot of apps installed so I thought this might be an issue.
Rebooted my Thunderbolt and it finally loaded okay. Selected Sort by danger and getting another Force Close/Wait. Selected Wait and it finally sorted.
I really like the app and look forward to some tweaks that might resolve some of the delays for us "app hounds".
Thank you for the post. We are aware of that issue and working on it. The problem is fetching application icons is too expensive some times. We working on making the "fetching" async. Plz wait for an update in the next few days
Awesome! I'll keep watching and will continue to provide feedback.
As a suggestion, is it possible/practical to add the standard rotating "clock" so a user will know it is working in the background?
Can't thank you guys enough for this app. Hope you also eventually have a "paid" version so those of us who want to support you and remove the ads can do so.
I agree with BiteMaster
I get a FC everytime I try to uninstall an app from PermissionDog. I have sent the "Report" three times, idk if it helps...
I have a Motorola Defy with CyanogenMod 7.
You get fc instantly when you hit the button? Cause all it does is forward you to the system uninstall app

Indeed, instant FC when hitting an uninstall button. The market link works and I can uninstall from there, so we have a workaround atm . (SGS with CM7)

It seems like cyanogen mod has problems with the "com.android.settings/com.android.settings.InstalledAppDetails" activity.
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class {com.android.settings/com.android.settings.InstalledAppDetails}; have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml?

So, now we check if the uninstall activity exists and if not, we open the Android Market to uninstall it from there.

The latest CyanogenMod lets you do just that.
http://androinica.com/2011/05/cyanogenmod-nightlies-secures-android/
Works on stock Dell Streak 2.2.2
Very simplified method of seeing what has what access.
I wonder about how you calculate the "Danger" level, because i have an app installed that is using only one permission (external_storage) and is rated 4.1. On the other side i have an app that is using four permissions (internet, external_storage, get_accounts, network_state) and that results in rating of 3.5?! I guess lower rating means less risk in using that app?
I would expect an app that uses more permissions to have a higher rating than an app with less permissions.
Btw, i could only start the app once, any further attempt to start it results in a fc (you got a report).

We just released an app to the Market for rooted devices running Froyo that enables quick and easy toggling on and off of automatic updates for all of your installed Market apps (aside from system apps that update via the Market).
Search for "market autoupdate" on the Android Market and try it out now!
Let us know what you think of it. Some people mentioned they would be interested to see widget support for this. If enough people want a widget, we'll consider adding widget support to this app!
v1.1 adds a progress spinner and has some internal changes.
v1.1.1 fixes a crash that occurs when trying to click the same button twice. It also fixes an issue that caused the app not to work on high memory devices.
v1.2 fixes a problem where the app would not work on devices without a sqlite3 binary (which includes most rooted stock ROMs that I didn't account for).
v1.2.1 adds a new icon.

Sorry, but my app is not to blame.
See this post.
so dose this turn on/off autoupdate feature? will you still see updates? im also curious about the update all feature, is that disabled?
Awesome work, defo will be useful. Wish I'd had it a month ago then I'd be £30 better off due to roaming auto update fun times
hi,
good work man!
only a question (not a bug)
is possible to make a option in your program to enable autoupdate
in / data applications and to disable for / system applications?
Great app!
It would be great if it could be integrated with Tasker.

EXACTLY what I just logged in to say! I'd love to be able to automatically turn off market autoupdates when I'm not connected to wifi (there's no way I'd remember to manually turn it on and off all the time!), but I imagine there needs to be some additional functionality built into this app first to allow interaction via Tasker?
Hi eddieringle,

We're still looking into why it doesn't work on system applications. When we figure that out, we'll update the application right away.
On another note, 1.2 includes it's own sqlite3 binary, so most of the people who had trouble getting it working should find that it works for them now.
Awesome. Thanks! I was looking for something like this =]
Personally, I'd rather see a list of installed apps with a checkbox indicating Autoupdate status so I can quickly run down my list of apps (perhaps with a tab separating system from installed apps) and check/uncheck Autoupdate for each one. Currently, you have to go into each app separately to do this, which is a major pain... Hope this can be considered for a future update?
I went to slide me and it download but wouldn't install and I try to download it in the Android Market, it download but it say "installation error unknown reason - 18" so I can't install... any help? I'm using an Evo rooted with Clockwork recovery.

Great app!!! It would be nice to be able to choose what to update though, all in 1 simple list, just as it was previously mentioned. Also, the ability to turn off auto-updating when roaming would be useful too (however I do have my phone set to disable data altogether when I'm roaming, it might be useful for others).
keep up the great work!
Wonderful little app, thanks!
Doesn't it work on Android 2.1?
Thanks for your app
Install Manager allows you to move and remove almost every app on your device.
This app greatly extends Googles (rather poor) A2SD feature which was introduced in 2.2.
It all started as a small app called "Choose Install Location" with its ability to
choose an applications install location (internal or external memory) right before its installation.
Install Manager v3 is the latest iteration of great app management tools.
Probably the best alternative to Apps2Ext scripts.
Features:
* Choose where an application should be installed.
* Literally move almost every app from internal memory to your SD card and vice-versa.
* Select a number of applications and let Install Manager either move or uninstall them automatically.
* Integrated apk file browser to find all the packages you have on your SD card.
* It also integrates itself in almost every file browser, mail client etc on the Market.
* NEW: Remove system apps you don't want with ease! (Pro only)
* NEW: Disable applications (Pro only)
That's not the end, I'll continue to make it better and better. Some new cool features are on the way already.
Requirements:
Android 2.2 or higher
Root access

Thanks. How does the UI look on a 7" screen? I don't have any tablet-size device to test it on... And the emulator plainly sucks.
Install Manager > All other Apps2SD:
- More power user features.
- In-app browser.
- Better performance and compatibility with Froyo.
Loving the hell out of this. This app is a few months old. No one else knew about this?

Where does this happen? Batch-Uninstall? I'll change some stuff so that it shows a summary of what apps you are about to uninstall on the confirmation dialog. This should help tracking the bug. Feel free to report all sorts of bugS!

I think I know where the problem is. It's a bug in the 2-apps-restriction function. ^^ fix will be out by the end of this weekend, including the summary in the confirmation dialog.

FAT32, the app is just an "extension" to Googles A2SD implementation.
@haldir18: sadly no, it's the usual A2SD limitation. But at least you are free to move apps which are usually not allowed to be moved.

Installed the update. Still not working, only now it is worse than before.
It still wouldn't allow me to switch apps, it still didn't launch on phone boot up, but now the update prevented me from being able to install apps from the Amazon App Store. I'd hit the install button after the app had downloaded, but it wouldn't register the button press. I could hit the cancel button though just fine. Play Market apps installed just fine. As soon as I Force Stop Fast5, I cold install apps from Amazon just fine.
Very weird. It works perfectly on my device (SGS2) and my friends devices and all emulator devices (2.1+) and i do not get other complains... what's going on?
Have you installed custom rom or something? Do you see all 5 icons? After pressing nothing happens? Or an error?
I would understand if you'd get some errors, but if it's not booting with the device? There is no way it won't boot at normal device configuration...
Thank you for you cooperation!
Have a look...:

I think it's isolated issue but I'll try to fix it for you if you'd like to use this app . Wain for report (if you sent it)

Yep it's a switcher. Will change topic name, sorry. But it works fine for you, right?
It works now on ICS too. There should be a new version active on the market within 1 hour (as always). There was one issue. Fixed.
I will test it. Great job
Edit: "error process buy" say my market
Defy > Defy+
Sorry my bad english
Error process buy? Lol... it's free. Did you try do it from the PC? Market kinda buggy thing. Thanks!
I had no problems with installation nor application so does my friends .
Updated version has been released. Should be working fine for everyone, regardless of Android version (2.1 +).
Try it
the update fixed task-clicking on ICS
- could you please add #111111 as an background color option? that's the color used by android for notification backgrounds
- when opening notification area the icons reorder after like 1-2 seconds. I guess that's because the app isn't running in bg permanently but it's still quite annoying, especially when you're just about to hit one of the icons and then it gets replaced with a adifferent one
- is it possible to have more than 5 apps? (yeah yeah, then the name wouldn't make sense anymore, but...) there's so much whitespace between the icons, it'd well fit 7 of them
Sure. No problem. Download an updated version (should appear on the market within one hour) and tell me if you'd like something more. Everyone else too . I'll see what i can do.
As for 7 icons instead of standard 5 on really large screens: could you please send me an email or post me here if you don't mind everyone looking how do it looks on your screen?
Thanks!
thanks for adding ICS color.
for large screen: just turn your phone 90° to widescreen and you can see it for yourself
any idea about the slow updating?
Check out the newest update (v 1.08). Tick a checkbox in preferences, restart an app and see if that fits your needs . As for more than 5 icons - i'll figure it out if you want to
Cheers!
seems good so far. will report back after some more usetime when it's got a bit more to do than show low-memory-apps what does the checkbox do? start a persistant service?
could you please close the notification bar when selecting an app? always makes me think the click wasn't registered.
No, it just shortens update time . Don't worry if it works right . As for notification: will put an option to do so shortly.
Cheers!
This app blocks the 3rd Party App Install on my device (Motorola Defy). You can still press the cancel button, but the install button has no function.
Tested it on a custom CM7 Version and on a Official CM7 Version(with fullwipe).
Smart Hide Calculator is a fully functional calculator app but with a little twist. Once you enter the password(u get to set it on first start of app and can also be changed in future) and press the '=' button then boom you are presented to an interface where you can hide, unhide pictures, videos, documents or files with any file extension placed in a folder on sdcard, and if your device have root you can also hide (freeze) and unhide (un-freeze) apps.
Features:
1.) Everyone will think it as a simple calculator
2.) Hide and Unhide pictures, videos, documents or any other media type
3.) Hide and Unhide apps **ROOT REQUIRED
4). Don't show itself in recent apps
5). In case user forgets the password he can recover it by going into password recovery mode(by pressing 123456789+987654321 in calculator) and providing the secondary password
This is a Beta release. More and more features and improvements will be made available soon. Suggestions are always
welcome.
Note:
1. The secret screen's UI(the one with hide and un-hide buttons) may look a little weird on small screen sizes
2. Refresh gallery button will not work in android kitkat 4.4 (and it is not possible fix this). Don't worry its not even needed and will most probably be removed in future release.
Please Rate and Review. This is my first app.

Great Application dude! This really caught be off guard by just reading its functions but I have been using it for the past few days and it has really made my device allot cleaner from the apps I do not care to see as well as freezing undesired bloatware from taking my resources. Thanks dude!

Yes I am well aware of this bug and its already been fixed. The fix will be rolled out along with last update. And the square root is such that it calculates root of the number on screen. Like pressing square root button on 123 or 123+12 will give square root of 123 and 135 respectively. Whereas the app will force close if you press square root button on just "123+" or any invalid number.
In future its planed to improve the whole mechanism of calculator and also implement features of scientific calculator.

Great idea!! Love your work.
We know how background apps bothered you. That’s why we develop App Hypnotist.
App Hypnotist is a light but powerful background app clearing application. By killing unnecessary apps running in the background WITHOUT ROOT, it helps reduce battery consumption, decrease your mobile data usage and clear annoying ads & notifications.
It is a fabulous background app killer; It is an efficient power saver and network data saver; It is an effective android ad blocker.
Features:
- Clear background Apps
Android devices usually run too many services in the background. App Hypnotist is specialized for killing the apps that you are not using.
- Save power and network data
Unnecessary app services running in the background drain your battery and keep synchronization automatically. App Hypnotist saves battery and network data usage by stopping the service of these apps.
- Block Ads and notifications
After all the background apps are hypnotized, the annoying ads and notifications will not pop up any more.
Highlights:
- Without Root
Forget about all the complicated procedures when getting root. You can use this app as soon as you download it.
- Light but Fabulous
It is simple but clean. You will never get lost in this beautiful app.
And it is perhaps the most amazing power saver as it works like a charm but only takes 2M on your phone.
- Whitelist Option
What if I don’t want to miss important notificaitions?
Never mind. You can receive notifications from an app instantly after you add it to Whitelist.

It just 2M.
Interesting app. It seems to be working, but you should probably add a way to cancel hypnotizing in action. It redirects Settings to the app while in action so I can't access it.
Trying this out..

Cool!
Kindly put an option to white list apps manually. I see that whatsapp has been put in the white list by default. I use profile flow to automatically switch between profiles, it stops working once it's hypnotized.

What exactly does this do?
Prevent access to internet to that specific app?

Thank you for your appreciation.
Do you mean that it stops working even though you have added it to whitelist?

Yep, it would be nice to get your feedback.
It seems work.
If you accelerate the hypnosis, that could be better.

We're dealing with it.
Nice UI but I haven't been able to use it... it freezes on certain apps when hypnotizing. Do I have to wait a little more?
