Anyone got or is there some way to configure the Hangouts to decide which chip to use in SMS?
I want to know it too
Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk
I think you can't do it. Since hangouts isn't open source and Android API doesn't support dualsim by default. In a next version (kitkat) maybe we can select which sim will send SMS, due to improvements on SMS management api,

Just to let you guys know that by default the hangouts choose the first chip to send SMS. It can help a little if you just send SMS using one carrier.

Hi new-noob,
Xoom hardware doesn't support calls, I mean you can receive them, but you won't be able to speak or hear what the other says. It's all about hardware....

From your normal phone, you dial a short number with star and hash to check your credits, or to subscribe for a service or to a ringtone, well this is called ussd.

Yeah. That is VoIP calls, not circuit switched calls like real phones.

Well i dont think it is a hardware problem. iPhone 4 has the exact same radio like the motorola xoom 3g (The Qualcomm MDM6600)
Maybe the firmware motorola has flashed into the radio disabled voice call capabilities?
Samsung Galaxy tab does not support voice call but after installing a firmware mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479) it can now voice call over GSM
what do you think?
Hmmm. Interesting. Can't really give you a firm answer on the firmware mod, but what I tested was that Xoom couldn't get voice call on. Simply the call might get thru, but voice can't be established as device speaker / mic don't function / get triggered with that.

Oh I'm sorry, I just assumed the OP lived in either one of those countries.
Then I don't have anything else. Most that I know of only work in the US.

Do you also have an Android phone that you text from? If so, you can use MightyText and you can send texts from any computer or Android device, and it syncs to all of them. Love it.
Text plus is great

This. Although I dont know if it works in other countries. I dont know why it wouldnt. Try either Mighty Text or DeskSMS. Both have Chrome Extensions to text from your browser and apps to text from your tablet. I prefer Mighty Text though
The reason i ask is that i am on an LTE postpaid plan with limited calls and text included but it does not have an option to checked used sms and call so u have to track it manually. Any suggestions TIA!

you arent new, you should know better http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477886
Are you on T-Mobile?
If so you can type #646# in the dialer to show you minutes used and #674# to check the number of text messages used.
I don't know if this works on other carriers.
I use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477886

Just wondering if this is an isolated issue. After my wife's phone updated to 4.4.2 (T-Mobile variant), each time she sends an sms/mms, it sends anywhere from 3 - 5 of the same message to whomever she texts. Is this something that can easily fixed software wise, or is it a hardware glitch? Thx in advance for the help!
Couple things are you using stock sms, hangouts? http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14698

Messaging -> Settings -> Multimedia message -> Group Messaging should be checked
Hi.
In my previous phone (nexus with stock lollipop) I used to see the company name and logo for incoming calls from numbers which were not in my contact list. I thought that was pretty cool, however I think this is not included in Miui. Do you know if there is a way to enable this using some secret setting or installing an additional apk?
Thanks!
Sent from my Mi-4c using Tapatalk
Do you mean this setting? It's in call settings, which is located in system apps or from your dialer.
I never enabled it so I don't know how well it works.
Sent from my Mi-4c using XDA Labs
Yes, similar to that although this one is provided by Xiaomi and I don't think this works well outside China.
