Hi there
Having here the sms ussd mod and enoying 3G GSM sms sending/receiving on my xoom but question arise on how to make calls ?
I mean I can call and take incomming calls but there is a deep silence ...
Hi new-noob,
Xoom hardware doesn't support calls, I mean you can receive them, but you won't be able to speak or hear what the other says. It's all about hardware....

From your normal phone, you dial a short number with star and hash to check your credits, or to subscribe for a service or to a ringtone, well this is called ussd.

Yeah. That is VoIP calls, not circuit switched calls like real phones.

Well i dont think it is a hardware problem. iPhone 4 has the exact same radio like the motorola xoom 3g (The Qualcomm MDM6600)
Maybe the firmware motorola has flashed into the radio disabled voice call capabilities?
Samsung Galaxy tab does not support voice call but after installing a firmware mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479) it can now voice call over GSM
what do you think?
Hmmm. Interesting. Can't really give you a firm answer on the firmware mod, but what I tested was that Xoom couldn't get voice call on. Simply the call might get thru, but voice can't be established as device speaker / mic don't function / get triggered with that.

If your carrier allows it. If they do not you can root and edit gservices.db to allow it.

My carrier allows 3g video calls.. but I dint see any option for making video calls while making calls.. how can I edit gservices.db?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
You can use GTalk To make video calls.
With Gtalk 1.3 you shuld be able to make video calls. I treied it yesterday, but as I was on 3G could get only a screen and then phone hung.

You would only need to edit the gservices.db if you try to make a video call and it states you need to be on wifi via a dialog.
In Google Talk there will be a video camera on the right where the status circle is instead of the circle. Hit the camera and you'll initiate a video call.

Inner call record???
to clarify, you want to record the audio/conversations on your calls?
voice recorder should, you just start it before you make the call.
i haven't used it in a while but I know it worked on my evo
I remember i had a rom on my captivate that had a button on the screeen while in call you could activate a recorder never used it but i thought it was cool as hell.

I do not think any of the available kernels support 2way call recording as of yet.
The first two apps that show up in the market work fine...
Record my call
Total recall
Voice recorder doesnt work.

Still no call record apps?

I just want to check that this is still the case, as far as everyone knows.
Are there no call recording apps that will capture both sides of the conversation while the phone is not on speakerphone (unrooted Infuse)? Nor custom ROMs that offer that capability?
Thanks!
As everyone knows, voice dial via Bluetooth does not work on Androids. Has anyone been able to get this to work?

This should be in the Question Forum......you will be hard pressed for someone to give you an answer in this sub forum.
Just FYI
Moved for you. Please no questions in the development section. Hope you get your answer

Motorola HX550 works good with the Skyrocket.
4G is flying, but I have noticed my calls automatically go to voicemail when the RAZR is on the 4G network. It doesn't even have to be in use, they just get rerouted to voicemail. A friend doesn't have that problem on 4G with his SGS3 so I'm thinking it's not the network?

Definitely your device, I have my 4G on whenever the phone is on and haven't had a single problem. Actually, I had my tethering on a couple days ago using 4G and was browsing the web on my phone at the same time and when I got a call from the lady friend, the data connection continued without a hitch. Sounds like you may need to consider a replacement, unless someone else has some info I am not aware of. Good luck.
Same here I get calls while using 4G

Yup no problems getting calls when on 4G here either....
Telstra firmware made calls go through when in 4G but then mobile network had to be manually re-engaged... I flashed the JB from SFR and now no incoming calls. Seems to be a baseband/fw issue?
Anyway did flag it with my provider maybe it's a possible bug. Who knows.

Hmm... does sound like a baseband issue. I would almost try hard reset? I have never heard of this before. I'll stay active in this thread though if nothing is resolved via your provider. Nice speedtest, by the way
Doesn't work. I am going back to ics tonight this jb sucks on my Phone
Also, wipe and reset didn't work. I'll retry tonight.

A friend told me that he called me a few times, but I dont have any missed calls in my call history. Then I googled and found this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OurDvZlHC3E
This is very serious bug, due to my work I cant skip incoming calls. Does anyone know if this happens only on LTE? Because if it does, I will disable it. I hope Google will soon fix this bug..
Thanx

Very weird. I never noticed that. I get calls at work where I'm on 4G (T-Mobile). Is it all the time no matter what if you're on 4G that you miss calls or just sometimes? That's actually a huge bug... Wow.
There is article on Android police about this issue:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...p-receiving-calls-and-text-messages-for-some/
IMO this is very serious bug and Google should urgently fix it.

dial *#*#4636#*#*, press phone info, if your network is set to lte only, you will not get any phone calls. phone calls do not work iver lte on the n5. it needs to be set to lte/gsm.

but the video shows when he called himself, theres ringtone.. so its not in LTE only mode, which was my point..
he was using GV, so maybe it wasnt setup properly
This happened to me few times. Also anyone else ever encounter where the phone will ring, but no dialer or option to pick up the phone call? The notification will show incoming at the top and it rings.

Thank you all for your patience as our team has been investigating this issue.
I checked and I have set LTE/GSM auto. I tried to call myself a few times from other phone and Nexus showed incoming call. So looks like this bug appear from time to time.
To "make sure" I will get all incoming calls, I have disabled LTE and I will restart phone every morning.
