Data issues. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this started today... When i lose 4g or make a call my signal stays at H+ until reboot which makes 4g come back. I'm on straight talk and have the proper APN settings as this just started.

I'm on sprint and my phone doesn't connect to 4g on its own. Instead of rebooting just cycle airplane mode.

I only had this happen once on my Nexus 5 on AT&T and I did as mentioned and toggled Airplane mode. Other than that one time, my phone always auto-reconnects.

Green Power Compatibility with Nexus S?

Hi people,
Recently went to the market, and I tried downloading Green Power. It claimed to be able to work with 2.3.3
However, I don't see it toggling 3G automatically.
Has anyone managed to get it working?

If you are connected to a wireless network the app doesn't use your data connection. Try running the app with your wireless off or turn off your router. You'll see it working then.

Huh I thought the main objective of the app is to turn off the 3G when its not in use?
What's the point of turning off the wifi or router?

I use an app called "Network Switcher" which seems to work well on my Nexus S

Great app I think it helps me save battery I'm still
On 2.3.2 still waiting for 2.3.3
Just tried network switcher ... sometimes it doesn't return me 3G connection ..

I got this yesterday it does switch off the 3g so I think its been working. Although there were a few times when I switch RH screen on and off too quickly that it takes 10 seconds o so before 3g comes back
So far its been good using greenpower can update later

The reason I said to turn off wifi/router was so he could see if the app was turning on/off his 3g connection properly; that being his question

Alright its been a few days and I can safely say that green power is working out awesome for me
If I just leave the phone alone it last a lot longer I'd estimate it to using around 10-20% battery judging by the percentage reported by the phone

3G disappeared recently

Don't know what happened. I've tried all the radios. I powered down and pulled sim card... no dice. 4g is fine but can't get 3g.
A couple times it's gone 1x and then as soon as 3g popped up it went right back yo no signal text.
I think my sim is jacked up. Any ideas? Gonna wipe and reinstall roms

Going to bet you are in "LTE Only" mode and not "CDMA/LTE" mode.
Wasn't working for me either when i was on cdma only but when I switched to lte/cdma it works fine.

Because "CDMA only" only gives you 1x, "CMDA auto" gives you 1x/3g
hey op I had the exact same issue yesterday!!
here's my thread on androidcentral:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-htc-thunderbolt-forums/108681-no-longer-getting-3g-what-should-i-do.html
I ended up getting a new sim card at the verizon store.
I tried toggling the cdma auto prl prior to going in there and it
still did not work.
what rom are you using?
Using ltb 2.5 and infusetheory 1.1 b using bootmanager.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
All it has nothing to do with the mode. I'm not a newb

Its probably the sim card, there has been a Bad batch of them recently

That would be correct. WiFi uses the GSM network and not the 4G. You may not want to turn off the WiFi to keep your data usage in check. When you leave the WiFi area it will revert back to the 4G network and the use 2G will be unchecked.

Nexus 5 3G connection hangs

Hello, sometimes I have this problem that I randomly can't use 3G data. The 3G icon is still grey (if there's no data its brown), but nothing that requires internet works. Also, the two small arrows near the 3G icon show me that no download is taking place (no down pointing arrow) and only upload arrow is active. Does anyone else have/had this kind of problem?

Same problem here
It could be the APN? Does LTE or Edge work?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
It happens randomly, I am not willing to test the crawling EDGE and I don't have LTE either. I'll add that my previous phone didn't have this issue.

I had a nexus 4 that cut out and bars went at my mates, a 3 blackspot. My Nexus 5 shows bars but looses data and sometimes says I need to insert a working sim and reboot. None of this happens at home. It's like the phone has a breakdown with a weak signal!

Sprint problems

I just switched over from att to sprint and got a sprint sim card activated for the phone, I can use lte data text and receive calls, but every time I try and make calls it disconnects and starts searching for network.
Anybody know how to fix this?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Did you check your APNs?
It doesn't give that option in the settings
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Try changing the preferred network type.
Yeah I've tried that, it's weird because the data will work perfect fast 4g, and I can get calls send texts etc.
But the moment I try calling it disconnects and starts searching for service
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Dial*#*#4636#*#*. Then make sure under phone is set to LTE/CDMA auto prl.
It was at to LTE cdma
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I'm assuming that you have tried the prl and profile updates. In the test mode (4636) switch to lte/gsm/cdma and then back to lte/cdma. Choose global instead of lte for the preferred network type.
Which radio? It might be a CSFB issue. You might try the .17.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I tried switching to GSM and then back to cdma didn't work, I have update the prl and didn't Work
Any other suggestions?
