Official CM7 Nightly Builds - Gingerbread
First off I want to say that I'm am not associated with Cyanogenmod in anyway. I merely created this thread because I did not see one like it here. To be clear, I did not write ANY of this code.
All credit to Cyanogenmod team and a huge thank you to gridlock32404 for his unofficial builds before the official nightlies are started.

I will try to keep this thread updated (maybe not EVERY day but as much as I can) as code is updated in preparation for Cyanogenmod 7. Please keep any discussions about the older nightlies in the other "CM Nightlies" topic. So with that, the current CM7 source build:
Known Issues:
-Charging LED notifications
Works:
-WiFi
-GPS
-Bluetooth
-Accelerometer
-Camera/Camcorder
-Keyboard Lights
-Pretty much everything else
Installation:

I will still try to keep the list of known issues up to date with the nightlies so let me know if some bug is either fixed or appears as time goes on.

Rule of thumb: If you are having issues and haven't already, do a clean wipe. Please lets keep bug reports down to what is actually wrong and not issues caused by upgrading from stable, nightly, or and older source build to the newest source build.
Disclaimer: Flash at your own risk.
cant wait to try this out!
just saying, i read in a thread on CM forums that you need clockworkmod recovery 3. tried to install 2 different ones (including the unofficial official one that all the mods/well-known peeps at CM forums are running/developing) and kept getting bombarded by force closing upon startup. completely unusable. flashing new recovery now....hope that'll solve everything. also, the new rom supposedly has keyboard light and camera fixes. plus the cool screen on/off animation (i think the on part is custom).
drop the g1 & on with a droid 1...
Well I see that the nightly has been posted for a while so ill test it out and post a review of the latest build. Cm usually never disappoints so this build should have some nice perks.
A couple of notes...
The CM nightlies that just restarted a couple days ago are still Froyo builds. There is speculation that they are testing things out and GB builds will come within the next week.
CrackFlashers Build #46 is running great. I still lose data after phone calls (and maybe texts too, need to test that). That is the biggest problem right now. I can deal with the small problems (wonky accelerometer, questionable GPU performance, camera FC's).
Any observations as to how this compares with JeffV2 's rom over at DF? Im trying to decide which one to try
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/android-roms/110459-rom-gingerbread-update-zip-w-gapps-154.html
this is a nightly, more like a pure build. but i slightly edit the source, probably nothing noticeable just by looking at it though.

I agree, the post over at DF.net says that the gingerbread rom has gingerapps included in the rom.zip and also it shows a temp fix for the keyboard backlight. Are there any comparisons
Ok I see there is no major diference. Its jus the small things that changed between the two rom builds
I'm running #48 now, and it seems great but there are def some issues. The most notable one for me is the crappy market. It's old and has the same app missing problems as early froyo builds. Big misses include twitter and tweetdeck. Can I just flash any other gapps zip (like the CM one)? Or is there a different fix? Thanks.

Hi all!
Can somebody help me or show me how to port CyanogenMod v7 to Milestone?
As of #48 the camera doesn't work, force close. Keyboard doesn't light up. And the screen has a glitch where it won't come back on, not sure what causes it however. Going to flash #52 released today and see if it's any better.
*Edit*
#52
Bugs:
camera force closes
keyboard back light doesn't work
Works:
WiFi
GPS
Bluetooth
LED notifications

Thanks for this. I updated the OP.
54 is up, I'm hoping to get my wife's phone away from her so I can try this out tonight.
Yeah it's on my wife's phone too. Just installed #54.
#54
Bugs:
Camera force closes
No back light on the keyboard
Everything else is working. Wish it worked as nicely as #52 on my Inc, it's flawless with the exception of running video benchmarks. Seems the hardware acceleration for that is still missing.
Official Nightlies for CM7 just hit ROM Manager on my Inc. Can anyone confirm the same happen for Droid?
Yes. A CM7 nightly is up on ROM Manager for Droid. Downloading now.
I have been running the official nightly since i found out yesterday night, CAMERA WORKS!! (that was a huge deal breaker for me when it did not work) Data is still kinda strange sometimes it wont work even when i have NOT made a call or anything but it for sure does NOT work after a call. I pretty much love it hope for the little bugs will get fixed over time

PS if team douche
Is spelled wrong its the auto keyboard fault lol
Since we now have CM10 stable and it looks like the push will be forward, what can we expect to look for in the new nightlies with 4.2. I know some of the GAPPS are different but are there even more enhancements changes to look forward to.

Thanks for the links. Wow! That's a lot of good stuff to look forward to. If the Devs can get all of those things working on a stable ROM for our Skyrocket there wont be a need to upgrade phones for quite a while. Cant wait. Thanks again.
You can download the 4.2 gapps now with the camera and the photosphere works (i should say "works"), the keyboard, and improved Google Now. The lockscreen widgets and other cool stuff will come when CM10 integrates 4.2 probably this week or next.

But if I do that wont it replace all of the working GAPPS? I also thought there was a problem with the new app sticking after a reboot. Can you selectively install the ones that are working or does it have to be all of 4.1 or all 4.2?

I guess you could extract what you want and sideload just the camera or something, but there is not any problem I'm aware of regarding the 4.2 gapps, except the camera has a LITTLE BIT of jank when it tries to save to the gallery. It still saves the picture, but it FC's sometimes. Again, it still saves the picture so you just have to reopen the camera to take another picture - and it's not by any means every time.
Is this the only issue with flashing the Gapps you linked? I'm on CM Nightly 10-20121221 for the Skyrocket. If I flash http://d-h.st/wBX, will the apps update like they regularly do, or will I need to do manual updates from then on? Just wondering.
I'm on AOKP "The Swagging Continues" ROM.
The weather on the lockscreen has been working for a long time, about 4 months+ and recently it got stuck, so I disabled it, re-enabled it, and now it reads N/A
I've tried flashing different versions of the ROM, and restoring a Nandroid backup from a time when the weather was working...
I can't even find info on how to fix the problem, I've been searching daily for a week now.
For the time being I'm using Yahoo Weather, but I don't like it very much, I liked the simple lockscreen reading.
Same for me with a completely different ROM on a completely different device.
In the data directory of ROM Control I can see that last time it was updated was the 02. April.
Yahoo weather service is working just fine, so I assume their weather API is working fine, too.
Glad I'm not the only one... I didn't change anything since before it stopped working... so I don't know why it stopped.
Yep, same here. It just stopped updating last week sometime.
T-Mobile LG MyTouch e739
andr00ib's AOKP JB 4.1.2
Really wish I knew how to fix this problem... :crying:
I noticed my wife's Galaxy S2X also isn't showing the AOKP weather
Nobody knows why?
buggy weather panel in AOKP (4.1.2)
same to me ! i'm also on "Initiate Your Swagger" for my sensation (lastest one)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1828250
and the weather penels only shows N/A or rainy ?!
i don't know how it should like, cause i just flashed it two days ago, but i'm sure it can't be right
It looks as if Yahoo are restricting Aokp from using their service for reasons unknown, but interestingly some CM builds seem unaffected:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37999-weather-back-42/page__st__20
It sounds like a new weather provider is needed.
Regards.
I'm guessing you can't just change the weather provider without some major difficulty? I searched a bit, sounds like you need to rebuild from source to do that?!?

I'm not sure to be honest. It seems as though some users on Sensation are having no difficulties at all.
It may be also due to the GAPPS package that is used.
There are many custom and "Slim" versions around, that may not include the needed location apps needed when compared to the official version on :http://goo.im/gapps
Regards.
I will be compiling AOSP's master branch (almost) nightly. This branch is, at times, very unstable and can have many issues. Most issues cannot be fixed without upstream changes.
I guarantee no stability or the fact that your device will work. It's your choice to use this. Don't blame me for something that goes wrong (even though nothing probably will).
You will need to flash Gapps in order to use the Play Store. You can get Gapps from http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip

Nice to see another pure aosp out there! Too bad about tweaks though, some tweaks I just can't live without anymore. That aside I'd rather have barebones over bloat
Thanks for this great rom!

I may make another ROM at a later time that is a tweaked master branch, but for now, this is staying pure AOSP. I haven't seen any frequently maintained master branch builds, and I think that the n7 community needs that. It's nice to have an up-to-date build of what Google is working on.
And remember, if there's a super awesome feature you think it oughta have, maybe AOSP will merge your contribution!

Features I was thinking of were mostly addons & some performance some ui tweaks which I don't think an aosp purist would likely agree on:
Cpu/ I/O memory management
Battery bar (miui, not a big break away from stock but not important)
Quick Settings toggles: extra buttons
Nav bar button editing
Kill app on long press of back button
Recent apps clear all & memory display
Battery statusbar options (I've always used %)
Statusbar clock settings (right/centre)
Some of those are purely subjective but things like kill app on long press, QS and navigation button settings should be built into the aosp source IMO. I get your philosophy behind this and I don't mind the missing features but I don't think I can keep pure aosp for very long after being spoiled with so many feature rich roms over the last few years
There are many people who would appreciate this though so I hope it gets the respect it deserves. Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll consider those if I ever work on another ROM. In the meantime, let's keep this thread fully focused on AOSP and this ROM. I really do appreciate the suggestions.

Essentially, yes. As I am sure you probably understand, each git repo can have multiple branches and Google creates a branch after each stable release. However, they also have a working branch that they push to frequently (many times per day) with changes called "master" and this is a nightly build of that branch. So, this is like the stock ROM, except it is on their working branch, not their 4.2.2 branch. In the build files, this is referred to as "OpenMaster", and Android version 4.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.2.
You'll notice some features that aren't in the stock ROM and you'll notice some (but not all) of the features reported to be in the 4.3 ROMs.
This branch tends to be slightly less stable, but it also is very interesting to use. I use it as my daily driver and have for awhile. There are some bugs, but they tend to get squashed within a few days.
If you want to see a changelog, check AOSP review.
I have two more questions:
- How can I get notifications about updates?
- How can I build the Master branch for my Galaxy Nexus?
Oh and btw. good rom! It is really interesting to test those new features and have some bugs.

Sorry, but at this time, you'll need to check the downloads page daily (probably around 10PM GMT-5 I'll have done it if I will) to see if I've posted a new build for the day. Maybe I will later make an app and put it in the Play Store and it will notify you when a new build is posted.

You'll need to sync AOSP and it includes the source for GNex. You'll need to download the proprietary files separately and unzip them. If you have questions, PM me. Also, http://source.android.com/source/building.html may be of some help.

Thanks! I literally just synced the source and built it, but thank you.
Getting a late start on today's build. It should be up in about 1 hour.

I have respect for the stock aosp. If I could pick only one feature though it would be one in forgot to mention "statusbar brightness slider" I use it so much I forget it's there.
I can live without those though, I'm glad to see openmaster working on the n7 and I'm going to try to live e without the frills! Thank k's for this pure rom,

Check out this handy tool. I'm usually anti widget but this lil tool is amazing for setting a brightness slider anywhere on the screen.
I've used it since way back before the status bar mod was available and I still use it pretty often if the ROM doesn't have it included.
Can be configured I'm about every way possible.

OpenMaster with 4.3 (officially versioned as 4.3.2.1.000.000) is available for download. Grap the latest nightly here.
SuperUser is almost definitely not working; additionally I cannot confirm how well the gapps package works with 4.3.
This release is 4.3 plus what you see merged on AOSP Code Review.
This build was made with the 4.2.2 proprietary binaries. A build with the 4.3 proprietary binaries will be released later today.
Edit: The build available (AOSP-OpenMaster-kalaker-grouper-20130724-fixed_binaries.zip).
IMPORTANT: As of 20130724, the OpenMaster builds are based on Android 4.3. With Google's official release of Android 4.3 for the Nexus 7 (grouper), a new bootloader, version 4.23, was released. OpenMaster builds after 20130724 have only been tested with the new bootloader. No support will be provided for users of the older bootloaders.

I wanna be able to post so i am posting here.....
yesturday i switched from carbon nightly android 4.3 which is a very good rom with more options then you can shake a stick at. But i wanted to take a bite of that kitkat bar.
I flashed gummy roms with their provided gapps... and wow...everything is so stable and works! I was tempted to get the nexus 5, but why now? GS4 is a better phone is some ways. The worst thing is that i am stuck on sprint, but they are getting better.
i soon noticed that the gummy gapps was incomplete. It was missing the GEL google now launcher. I decided to try PA GAPPS with it and dirty...... bad choice... afew flashes later and a data wipe... JFLTESPR+ Gummy ROM 4.4 Beta + PA GAPPS = Nexus 5
so far it is flawless.... one bug i see is in the mail widget... you are unable to select the inbox.... this is frustrating ...but i can live with unread only for now.
PA gapps also included hangouts, calender, play games icon, chrome, google pictures, play music, play video, and other goodies......
Yes. Excellent Rom. But camera is giving wake locks and some hardware features aren't yet available. But it's great as a daily driver.
