Hi,
I wanted to follow up with this question since the update to Droid Maxx has the lte band 4 enabled. I would like to know if it is as easy as popping in a tmobile nano sim card and everything will work? Do I have to alter APN settings? I do understand that LTE will only work in reframed areas? but could I still get 3g or even HSPA+?
Thank you in advance for any advice!!
Chris
I got LTE on T-Mobile by added the APN fast.T-Mobile.com into the phone . but the connection is unstable,

Hi - Has anyone been able to get their Rogers One X working on Bell's LTE network? I've got it running at 4G only at the moment and tried in a few LTE areas per the coverage map. LTE Sim, APN (pda.bell.ca) and provisioned on the account level. I've been told my data plan is not compatible and would have to change my plan (voice & data) as it's a corporate account.
Anyway - curious if other Bell users have had luck.
Thanks!
May not be much help but LTE works perfect on Telus

Telus and Bell run the same towers so you should be fine, I'm on bell with the HOX but not in LTE zone to test, might do that tomorrow if I'm bored...ill let you know!

How did you get the Telus LTE to work? When ever I turn it on it will show that I'm connected to LTE but I don't get any data...... I have to turn LTE off and let it connect to HSPA to get the data to work.
Edit it seems to be working now I can connect to the LTE network but my LTE speed are only about 10mbps download???????? I know I can get around 16mbps on the HSPA+ network as I used to get these speeds on my HTC amaze. Anyone know why the LTE speeds are so slow?

That would be great - thanks!
I'm currently using pda.bell.ca and tried pda2.bell.ca for a bit with no LTE. Bell techs are saying it may be the plan I'm on (6GB smartphone) but I'm hearing other users have this same data plan and it works.. who knows, it could be the phone itself!
kind of OT but where did you get it unlocked from and for how much? link? thx
to unlock it go to cellunlocker.net , only tooke about 2 hours for me to get the code for 7.99 plus tax, i use them all the time
I'm using the HOX for the last 2month on Bell LTE no problems here LTE kicks in perfectly fine. Mind you there's some spots here in the City where there's not LTE service but even on the 4G network I can manage a could 8mpbs/sec ratio.
Cheers.
Checking back in to this thread - has anyone on a Rogers device updated their radios with a noticeable increase in signal strength and speed? I'm still running the stock radio at the moment.
I keep hearing conflicting reports from users on here can people using the rogers unit here in the states on at&t please confirm if you are in fact getting LTE?
yes it does get at&t LTE and has been confirmed

Can u point me to where because All I saw was one screenshot of a guy saying he had it working but it didnt actually say LTE by the signal bar. The other people in the thread werent having any luck and were stuck on hspa.
The 4g symbol on the rogers version means its connected to lte, it would read h+ on hspa

Huh. No, the Rogers Razr HD uses LTE as the icon for LTE. I have one on Rogers in Vancouver, and I get an LTE icon when connected.

Thats what I thought. Can someone who is actually using it on AT&T confirm they are in fact getting LTE?
I'm interested in this as well.
PLEASE SOMEONE USING A ROGER'S RAZR HD on AT&T PLEASE CONFIRM YOU ARE IN FACT GETTING LTE??!!

This is by no means definitive for all part of the US but I am in AT&T's Philadelphia market and using the SAME SIM in the SAME LOCATION, I CAN get LTE on my Motorola Atrix HD, then move the SIM to an Unlocked Rogers XT925 and only get HSDPA +. Both phones have the same APN settings (APN=PTA). I've even tried creating a separate LTE APN per another XDA-DEV thread with no luck.
If any one else has gotten LTE on the XT925, please share how you did it.

Under the signal bars do you see 4G or H+? I have confirmed LTE works fine on the Razr HD as long as you have the correct data plan and are using the PTA apn. What might be confusing you is the Rogers RAZR HD displays 4G here in the states when connected to LTE and H+ when connected to HSPA/HSDPA. Hope that addresses your concern. Run a speed test to confirm my findings are 100% accurate.

I'm getting H+. I've confirmed the plan, function and bands I'm seeing on the network using the same SIM at the same location in an Atrix HD vs. the Razr HD. I get LTE:14 on the Atrix HD. HSDPA:9 or HSPAP:15 on the Razr HD.
Speed test (w/ same SIM, both phones in same location):
Razr HD (displays H+): 4337kbps down/ 1771kbps up
Atrix HD (displays 4G LTE): 12264kbps down/4843kbps up

BTW- Can you provide your APN setting for PTA for verification? And are there any other APNs loaded, just not active?
Ok. Here is an update.
I turned OFF Select Preffered Network automatically.
Did an manual search
The phone came back with 5 instances of "AT&T" (no add'l info)
Tried to attach to each one
On the 4th one, I attached and got LTE.
I did a power cycle and still have LTE because the phone should have stored the LOCI info, there is a possibility once I move out of this local area or lose LTE coverage that I may need to do a new manual selection.
i took my note 2(verizon) to att, edited apn and everything is awesome, 3g/HSPA , so i tried to do the same with the wifes phone but only getting edge(2g) - am i doing something wrong or does the s3 not support the 3g HSPA bands of att?
please help

Currently, nope. Edge is all you'll see as of now.

Is there an lte only option anymore? IIRC we used to do this in phone info app but that stopped working after the jb update...
That's how they got nexus 4 buzzing on lte isn't it?
how can I get an unlocked sch-i535 to work on tmobile and access the LTE network, is there a certain rom, kernel, apn, or any other settings/process that can be done to work? I have a tmobile sim card in it and am only running on Edge Network, and since Phoenix (where I live) has LTE I want it bad
Shouldn't work. Most anyone has gotten (like you) is Edge data once they've edited their APNs. Additionally, each carrier supports different LTE bands so it's not compatible on Verizon's GSIII. It's not like the Optimus G which just had a dormant LTE band waiting to be exploited.

Is there a workaround or any suggestions to get everything functional such as calls etc.
As of now only data works but you can't receive or send out messages, make calls etc.
When connected to H+ everything works flawlessly and the carrier shows, when connected to LTE only data works nothing else and the phone can't identify what carrier is being used.

UPDATE:
The issue seems to be that Verizon by default is locking the GSM radio. Users are reporting the same in the Moto X and Droid Ultra forum. Users using 4.4.2 on T-Mobile with a Verizon device.

They are SIM unlocked as I'm using one but it seems the band we need for LTE isn't playing well.

Was curious if anyone else was having this issue. Any thoughts that it might be related to skipping Verizon activation? When I got the phone, wasn't activated and on first turn on it prompted activating Verizon Sim but I exited out and just popped in T-Mobile Sim.

AFAIK, LTE (unless the carrier is using voLTE) is a data only network. Verizon uses LTE for data and CDMA for calls and text.
Verizon seems to only allow GSM/UMTS or CDMA/LTE on the M8 at one time, there doesn't seem to be a true Global mode that allows GSM/UMTS and LTE to run at the same time.
That would explain why people are reporting either LTE or calls/texting (which, as above mentioned, only works on 2G/3G (be that CDMA or GSM))
The question is, is there a way to get around this? On the S3/S4 there was an app called phoneinfo which showed more modes than the Mobile Network settings menu. Is there such a thing for the M8?
This is quite disappointing news for me, since this is the first Verizon phone I'm aware of that has the 1800MHz LTE band, and that's the band used in Australia where I'm headed soon. I was excited about being able to finally use LTE there! I guess I'll have a choice between LTE and calls/text like all those in this thread using T-Mobile.

Thought I'd copy this here

Hoping the best that this would be the fix for the GSM
while you edit the data as well I believe
Will never get 4G LTE on any other carrier besides Verizon in the US. Never have. Never will. Those radio bands are blocked at chip level.

More than likely it is same as Verizon. Won't happen till they have voice and data both over AWS network. Currently on Verizon data is on LTE and voice is on CDMA. If can get into signal settings may be a way to lock the voice section in. It is not on LTE. Verizon has had the two linked since TBolt. Others have had a problem doing this. Has to be able to do dual band at same time. Also shouldn't get LTE at all if not in T-Mobile AWS area.
Unless T-Mobile rolls out voLTE and the M8 is compatible, the VZW M8 won't work for both call/sms and LTE data simultaneously. The other solution would be figuring out a new mode that allows LTE and GSM/UMTS to work together, maybe a software update will do that, but something tells me VZW isn't running to make our lives easier in this regard (Unless they start offering international 4G LTE roaming, then they'll have to fix this issue - and that might be on the horizon as this is the first VZW phone to have LTE bands that VZW doesn't use nor has any plans to use, such band 3 1800MHz)
