I am trying to root my friends TF300tg but having some problems. First of all i've read lots of threads in this forum. I tried lots of methods. My first mistake was v7 unlocker. Tablet version is 4.2.1 and i installed v7 unlocker. I've seen lots of comments about successfull installation with v8 unlocker. So that reason i want to install v8 unlocker. It doesn't give me permission cause of v7. Can i downgrade my version? 4.1.1? any other advices? I don't want to brick it. Sorry for my bad english. I hope you can understand me.

So are you already unlocked from the v7 unlocker or did it not work? You only have to unlock the tablet once.

Hi everyone, I bought a xoom wifi only 3.0.1 (Build H.6.2-24 for Retail Other International -- & Model number MZ604), & I'm familiar with all the rooting stuffs & all the things since I got a motorola milestone.
I want to update my xoom to 3.1 & root it, first I have a question about the update for 3.1 toalso use the SD, is it the official update?(cause I saw many threads & now I'm really confused if it's official or developers did the great job...
second: I've read many places that first I have to unlock, then root it...something like this, is the bootloader locked like motorola milestone?
& at last I really appreciate in advance if someone can help me or give me a link in XDA, so I can simply follow the steps & do what I need to do, I've read all the threads & now I'm soo confused because many of them wrote that the steps they did MAY harm UK wifi only xoom, are those threads including my wifi only xoom to not to do?
OK, follow this guide to unlock, flash the US images, update to 3.1, root and install the Tiamat kernel. This will give you everything you want including SD access.

Reminder: DO NOT RELOCK. Ignore the relock command on the Moto website.

Firmware is different between US and Europe. If you try to relock, you will brick your Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App

There are guides everywhere including the first page of the dev thread.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714
And yes there is always a chance you will brick your device and it will never work again. The guides work for every version except the B80 and some B70s.
what are the chances? and why its happen ?
thanks for the help
The chances are different for everyone. Depends on how well you follow directions and still there is no guarantee. Either do or don't do

Just got my a700 today and enjoy immediately got a notification that the JB update was available. What I would like to know from some of the more knowledgeable members (and almost everyone is more knowledgeable than me) is should I go ahead and install the Acer JB update or should I root, unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom? I. have read that because Acer has not released a certain type of code, that with the stock JB update I will not be able. to root or unlock the bootloader.

I have flashed my a700 to Pawitp's latest CM10 Nightly build. the screen reaction is better than the stock one. And all the stock apps are removed. Nice!! But once my a700 suddenly rebooted, maybe the conflict of apps. All in all i will suggest flashing to the CM10. Sorry for my poor English.
Stock JB ROOT or CM10 ??

Hey,
Your CWM doesn't work, as it's for the ICS Bootloader. They (Germans) have a CWM for JB, but.... due to issues in the past with some early CWM's, a lot are a little afraid to use it. I haven't seen a lot of problems on the German site, so maybe it is ok. I have it installed on my 701, but haven't had the need to use it yet.
As with root, wait another day or so, and my Mate Civato will finish the modded boot.img for the JB 700, so you guys won't have to do a mess of things.
Will be a simple root.

Hello everyone.
I wanted to root my tablet and have a few questions.
i was reading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193 and wanted to know if when hes talking about numbers right next to the model, is that the Kernel version?
I have a B70K serial number tablet and wanted to be very sure about everything im doing before attempting to root my device.
So, what do I have to keep in mind when rooting my device?
Thanks in advance for the help guys.
Much simpler option and doesn't care if you are SBK1 or SBK2

Detection's advice above is great. In my first tf101 I used Frederuco's method which uses Easyflasher and it worked a charm. I got my other half a TF101 for Christmas and for whatever reason Easyflasher didn't work so I googled and tried PERI and it worked.
Please note that if you intend using TimDuru's ROMs 4.3 or 4.4 etc to use the TWRP recovery, and to flash the newest version of it once you are rooted. Frederuco's guidelines talk you through how to do that.
I was very hesitant before I rooted the TF101 - being a noob, but it wasn't as daunting than I imagined and the rewards of the much quicker ROM are well worth the 15 minutes that the rooting and flashing ROM take.
