You just need some luck, if customs notice your package you`ll have to pay taxes and if they don`t you`re in the clear. Remember LTE/4G will not work in the UK as the US model use other LTE bands than European devices. Also keep in mind that when you need repair/warranty you'll have to ship it to the US again.

You do know that you will not get LTE if you use a US N5 in the UK right

It's not up for sale yet. But you can use an international credit card to pay for it. To get it shipped, you'll have to get someone to ship it to you.

friends, relatives, etc. those are your best bet. third party stores are gonna charge you extra on both device and shipping.

Or you could always wait for "water" products (imported) from the small stores. I was in Hong Kong this summer, the Nexus 7 2013 only took like 1 week from when it was on sale at the US play store. The typical price was around $2200 HKD for the 16 GB version, about a $400 HKD premuim. It'll probably cost that much paying double shipping by using comgateway.com or other mail forwarding service.
It will not cost sgd80 for forwarder...

im also from hk.. i think you should wait until it comes to hk.. the nexus 4 came in december costed 4k hkd which is good enough...
I live in Singapore where anything is subjected to a hike of around 30%-50%. The nexus 4 is sold here at sgd600+ at large retail stores... gpu can cost SGD 300 more

Actually, for Hong Kong users, it might be a really bad idea to buy from the US play store if any of you are planning to use it for 4G services. According to the LTE band thread, the UK version is a much better choice, mainly in that the US (D820) version of the phone will NOT work with 4G services in Hong Kong. Wikipedia says that the Hong Kong networks use bands 3,7, 40, the US version do not support any of these frequency bands, whereas the UK (D821) version supports bands 3 and 7.

Buying Unlocked Nexus 5

Hey All,
I live outside US where Google Play Store does not sell Nexus products.
I am planing to visit US in the coming weeks, and i am looking for a place (store) where i can buy an Unlocked (Off-Contract) Nexus 5.
Any info/suggestion is appreciated.
EDIT: I guess the appropriate word is Off-Contract Nexus 5.
And I read somewhere that Sprint - T-Mobile and BestBuy are selling Off-Contract Nexus 5 for $449.99.
So the actual question became; If i buy and Off-Contract Nexus 5 from one these sellers, can i just use it with any carrier available in my country. (Neglecting the difference between US and ROW version, since all i need is 3G for now.)
Thanks.

As far as I know they're all unlocked, even when purchased from one of the carriers, but I think you'll get hosed on the price buying from anyone other than Google.
Every single Nexus 5 (or any Nexus in fact) is unlocked. No matter where you get it from. It's just the price that pays for the convenience. You can get one outright from a carrier and say you already have a (insert that carrier's name here) SIM that you'll pop in when you get home. However carriers will charge you ridiculously more then 349/399 for the phone. You can try finding one used that somebody already received, or if you're staying long enough, order one from Google.

If you life in europe I cant recommed buying it from the US because not all that many people know that that there are actually 2 variants of the Nexus 5, one for non-US markets and one for the US. The difference are the 4G bands you wont have LTE with the american version in other parts of the world.

Actually my country (Turkey) does not have 4G yet, it is expected to arrive through the end of 2014. Also people expect the price to be around 800$ in my country. And LG G2 is being sold for around 700$ which puts me in dilemma. I still want the Nexus 5, but i don't think i can stay enough in US to order from Google, and i guess stores like BestBuy don't sell Nexus 5 without carriers.
Could we see non-carrier versions of Nexus 5 in stores in the near future, or would it only be Google keep providing them?
Can buy nexus 5 from Google, carriers or sim free 3rd party in uk
There are no "carrier versions". Theres a US version and a ROW version, both unlocked. That's it

Yes, assuming there are GSM carriers where you are. :good: (GSM carriers use sim cards)
If you're willing to wait, you could have one of your US friends buy the Nexus for you and then ship it over when it arrives. You might not want to wait that long (understandably,) but I just can't justify paying an extra $100 for a phone due to corporate greed.
Bought mine from T-Dimension on Ebay. Very happy with my purchase!
Shipped from Hong Kong and got it 5 days later. The D821

Right, but the main problem is that i don't think the customs would let the device in. In my country it is forbidden to ship things that cost more than $100, and if they catch it, they are likely to seize the device or just send it back.

[Q] Where to Buy Nexus 5 in USA?

Guys My Brother is coming to India on 24th, so obviously today I asked him to bring Nexus 5. but he told that it takes around 10-15 days to deliver. we don't have that much time. can you guys suggest where to buy nexus 5 online for a fast delivery?
if it may help he lives in Texas.
Thank you.
Best Buy should have it but it would be a bit more.
Any idea how much it would be?

It's $450. But you can price match it at their best buy. Just print out the google play store price (make sure it says it is in stock) and then print out their policy. Ask them to match it for $350. It should work. I got mine matched at that price at bestbuy
Keep in mind it MAY NOT WORK in India. There are TWO models. An American Model and a international model.
I suggest you MAKE SURE your carrier supports it.

after april 1st.. most likely around the 10th, but better off checking with your carrier as it will vary.
I heard the 10th of April
Whatever the date was in the Samsung reveal presentation on March 1st. Or it will be very very soon after that.
The question we need to ask is what storage options will the US Carriers offer? Will Verizon screw theirs over an only offer 32GB or what about AT&T, will they even go up to 32/64GB and will both skip 128GB. If I can't get 128GB I see no reason in getting it, with no microSD which was the excuse carrier stores told idiot customers not to worry about a 16GB phone, well 32GB is no longer an acceptable minimum storage when its officially up to 128GB now.

April 10th in Canada.
Confirmed by carrier. Have a Black S6 128gb reserved.
US major carriers will have at least Black and White in all three storage options at launch.

You would also need to make sure the network bands would match up between Canada and Russia. It would be unfortunate to pay $$$ for the device in Canada, and then have a device that can't connect to the cell network in your home country.

Looks like samsung is doing the regional radio models thing again.
Make sure you check the bands/frequencies for where you'll be using it. They may not match up.
Otherwise you should be fine. If not at a carrier store then at bestbuy or futureshop maybe.

Great minds think alike
Currently, Samsung fanatics can only get their hands on a demo of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in a limited number of locales, including Canada.

Anyone in canada willing to pick one up from me from sasktel?

Need to get my hands on the Moto X Play. Anyone able to get one from sasktel in canada? They seem to be the cheapest out there with the option to buy the device outright from a store.
Please let me know asap
Thanks guys and gals!
You might want to hold on there. From what I've read, all the Canadian devices are network locked...

from what I gather, your best bet for acquiring a USA GSM compatible and unlocked Moto X Play is to go with one from Brazil with model number XT1536. The question now is how to get one from that country and not pay too much extra fees for it. On a side note, I noticed all the Canadian carriers seem to carry the 16GB model only. i know memory is expandable but i'd prefer more onboard storage due to faster read/write access plus better memory chips used vs. your typical microsd card.
They're carrier locked but from what a Bell representative told me, you can pay them 50 (unlocking fee) and then you can unlock the phone yourself / other people to get it to work outside the carrier.

Hey thanks for the heads up man. i thought the brazilian one was also compatible but wanted to see if canada was easier. If it unlocked from brazil it may be a better buy.
Real problem is that conversion really sucks... $300 usd for the one from canada and $400 usd for the one from brazil

Does the Sasktel one come with the Turbo Charger? I saw an article on MobileSyrup that mentioned Koodo is one of two carriers that includes the turbo charger, but didn't see anything more.
Here in Alberta there's no sales tax, so getting it from Koodo may not be a bad idea (if they'll sell outright). I'm considering buying one, but only if I can get it outright.

Yes they do. If you can give me until tomorrow, I'll go have a look (I'm probably going to grab one if they have it in stock.
I actually have a Koodo account, so I shouldn't have a problem buying it without the 2-yr term.
