[HowTo]How I ported MIUIv4 to my device

I've gotten many requests on how I ported MIUIv4 to my Optimus V, so to save the trouble, I'm just going to make a tutorial.
I did this to a mdpi armv6, 600 mhz device, so maybe mine was a little different

First of all, you're going to need:
A CM9 or ICS ROM for your device
A MIUIv4 ROM for a device, somewhat similar to yours
Okay, let's get started.
-Open up both ROMs in an archive manager.
(Note: I'm going to be referring to the MIUI ROM from another device as MIUI, and the CM9 ROM as BASE)
So you have MIUI and BASE
-delete /system/app and /system/framework from the BASE
-put /system/app and /system/framework from MIUI into BASE
-open up /system/etc in both
-put telephony.db and yellowpages.db from MIUI into BASE
-open up /system/lib in both
-move content-types.properties from MIUI into BASE
-open up /system/media in both
-replace LMprec_508.emd and PFFprec_600.emd (don't know if these are different for you) from BASE into MIUI (changed it up a little )
-Then delete /system/media from BASE
-replace it with /system/media from MIUI
Now this should get you booting.
Note that the port will have all the problems that the CM9 ROM has. No exceptions.

i will try your guide on miui 2.3.5 rom. In miui 4 port app need to resize to work ldpi device. That's hard work for me. Anyway again thenks for guide

are you mean miui 4? I used galaxy ace miui rom and base rom is vivek cm9 ics rom. i'm not tried app because in p350 cm9 port tochscreen is not work good. I'm said because ace is mdpi phone. And i tried your opimus v miui rom but this rom file not work.

Can we do this for u8800+ thats don't have a working ics rom official or custom??i see your trying to do it with miui 2.3.x!!

I'm asking...i took a miuiv4 from dezire and a half work-in-progress ics for u8800 did as the quide said install it but i stuck at the android bootlogo...can i use 2.3.x miui to do this?

you stuck at android logo that mean you need to change more or less file to work with your phone. And about 2.3 i tried to port 2.3 miui from this guide but i'm getting android system fc problem. But you can try

Change what files?I did what the quide told me...also i use the other guide for muiuv4 port its the same..stuck at the android logo boot!!not crash..just stuck...the logo is moving but didn't boot!

without device i can't tell you files. But i think this files on libs folder.

i'm talking about moving file to your base. but file name i can't tell you or maybe miui libs files will not suport your base rom. if your device have working ics rom then

Some guys at xda u8800 forum port a working (for them) miui but i have u8800+ its the same phone with a bigger cpu and maybe some changes onboard...is there any guide about porting between those 2 phones?

i don't know anything about your device. Why you not ask help on other u8800+ ask help who porting ics rom for your device. U8800+ devs can help you in better way

(Tutorial)How to Port Roms To your phone

What u need
windows or linux
ROM (that u wanna port to ace )
Dev Tools (like pack/unpack boot.img)
What u need to do??
unpack your boot.img
Change file on ramdisk (init.model.rc >> init.gt-s5830.rc), (ueventd.model.rc >>
ueventd.gt-s5830.rc)
change model.rc >> COOPER.rle
init.rc need to change >> (unpack the boot img from rom u wanna port open
init.rc and copy the stuff after BOOTPATH
change ramdisk/lib/modules >>> your modules
repack ramdisk boot.img
build.prop
change model to your model (For example: xperia x8 > GT-S5830, and galaxy > cooper)
And, wifi modules has taken to your ROM (port)
libs
and, bin files, like superuser or busybox
then add/replace these in the rom it self ( copy from stock or cm7 )
/lib/libril.so
/lib/libsecril-client.so
/lib/libsec-ril.so
/lib/libdiag.so
/system/hw
/system/modules
/system/etc/firmware , ppp, security, wifi, permission vold.stab
/system/user/keychars, keylayout
if u use an mdpi phone or ldpi
and u wanna port a rom from a higher resolution u will need to resize all pngs too

I assume you have atleats 1 cm9 or something of 4.0 because you will need to mod that boot img if not then trie it on cm7 boot img

What is I take boot.img from cm7 and combine with ICS of Nexus S ?? will it work ??

Might work but u need to have atleast cm7 and stock
For cm9 there must be a special kernel to deveLop
But give cm7 kernel a trie

This is y i Have PORTED not build from sources
The virtuos rom have htc stock kernel 3.0 already thats y i have ported from it

I was gonna say...I'm pretty sure if Kernel 3.0 had been released then someone on here would be all over it already.....
Having said that is this port worth anything??

Ok first that is a different device and the kernel source will not work. It has been tried. Second AS per my PM do you have permission to do this. If not I will be closing all this threads

I appreciate the effort, but I'm also kinda fond of my DHD and don't want to brick it. What firmware is it that we are flashing?

Flash this only if you are using dhiru's builds, it probably won't work with other ROMs.

Fash the restore zip in case you want to restore the original lockscreen. You can also reflash the ROM you are using, your data will be preserved.

Hi Guys,
I tried this wonderful Lockscreen, it didn't work for me , kept getting stuck at the logo of the ROM.
I am on Paranoid ROM 4.1 by Lolation, thought that the DPI settings might be the issue, so changed it to stock, that didn't work either.
Tried to restore using the zip given above that was not useful so flashed the ROM again...any idea what could be the issue here ?

I've already done that, but I was too lazy to properly adjust sizes and offsets (patch and resources are for HD screens). The result is a working lockscreen with some ugly imperfections. Less than expected considering how roughly I did that.
Maybe I'll try to fix it, I don't know yet, I'm lazy.

Unless there's something ready, I won't.
And with "ready" I mean a patch like the one I used for this, not already compiled jar/apk files.

The problems are:
I can't test it
The patch for ICS is probably old (even the one for JB wasn't directly applicable, I had to manually do some changes). That means there are high chances of having a bootlooping device (see point 1).
dhiru will soon update the ROM (I have to align my sources with his builds, this mod changes core files.)

Can I put this mod on [ROM] [UNOFFICIAL] [4.1.1] Codename Android 3.6.0 Lite?

i thought this MOD is for all ROMs which base is cm10 alpha 2. haha
i got stuck on bootanimation when flashing this. i was on codename android when i flash this.

It will work only on Alpha 2.

Same here with Codename Android 3.6.6 Lite: flashed and stuck on animated boot logo. Had to recovery system partition.

Hello all,
I have started a new project to provide miui to those XPERIA devices which are not supported by miui team.
This ROM will be as light as possible(Perfect miui)
CX-MIUI Project​
The currently supported devices are:
Xperia J
Xperia Acro S
Xperia Ion

Currently i am providing ported 3.3.29 beta test builds from Xperia Arc S.
Need some feedbacks about bugs and the performance of the rom so that i can fix in upcoming versions !
Also I need a tester who can test ROM before release PM me if anyone can

How to Install:
-First of all you need a unlocked bootloader as miui is based on cyannogenmod
-If you have CWM then :
*Wipe data
*Wipe cache
*Go to advanced - Wipe Dalvik cache
*Mounts and Storage - Format system
*Flash the Rom.zip
-If you don't have CWM then:
# Open rom.zip flash the boot.img in it using fastboot
#Reboot phone and violet light will blink for 3" in that you should press vol up(+) and you will enter CWM mode
Then follow the above ' * ' part for installing zip

+1. I am also looking for a very brief review about this ROM. I am using the official MIUI v5 for S3 now, and looking for this ROM for my sister's phone. Is it stable enough for daily usage?

i'm on CM10 fxp215 xperia J and trying to install this but it can't

Bumping this to say, Any 1 with script errors, Replace your updater-script and update-binary from META-INF\google\android (or something like that) with the one from latest FXP CM10 Release, It works but how well i can not say.

but has lot of bugs
you have to use updater script from latest CM10 and replace it in this MIUI zip to work (else it wil show ststus 7 error)
Bugs:
>phone,contacts,music player and even home launcher FCs
>reboots when awaken from lock
>random lags (may be coz of kernel)
Overall > cant use it now! has lot of bugs!
We have to wait for the dev to update and fix the bugs :good:

I had 90% working MIUIv4/5 but I gave up with that project and deleted everything I done for jlo ^^

Not sure why you was thanked for this comment but ok , Any 1 here wanna fix it my friend really wants MIUI and im just a contributor not developer

Have you copied every additional libs from MIUI's system/lib to your PORT? If you didn't, do it and then check if you have still all FCs.
If Phone crashes and you have reboots you should start again from scratch and very carefully do the diffing and smails replacement. Probably you used wrong base or did sth wrongly or forgot about part of porting. Have you patched RIL? Phone Factory? You should also try to take MIUI for SGS as base for porting.
Taking updater script from FXP isn't enough, you have to add some lines to it to make MIUI working well.
I can start porting MIUI4/5 for jlo again but I need a rom tester for this device.
ah and one thing, it's hard to fix MIUI Home FC, you should download the newest MI Home from Google Play Store and put it into your port. It should help a lot, it helped me.
