Hello.
There are certain games can be played on these devices, and there are certain of them that cannot be. There are many factors to running a game on a 'Legacy' device, which can be the RAM of your phone, your CPU frequency, etc. I'll try doing some research on 'Clash of Clans', and see if it really IS possible for the game to be run on our Legacy devices. Having too much to do, I won't really be able to compress it myself (if the game is capable of being run on our devices, that is). But I'm trying to get some time and to finish up that post on how to get heavy flash games, video streams, etc. running on EVERY phone, from Legacy to the best ones. Hopefully, I will get it done in the next week or so. It will most probably be posted on the General discussion page for all phones. After that, I'll work on sharing ways of speeding up your phone tremendously (by increasing the RAM of your phone using your SD card!).

Ah, yes. 'Clash of Clans' has been successfully converted to Armv7, and (hopefully!) will be coming up on Armv6 very soon. If you're good at converting Armv7 to Armv6 (and the other way around), you should just try and convert the game to Armv6! Trust me, there have been many more people who have asked me about this 'Clash of Clans' game. I have very less time in my hands currently, because of all these Exams that have come up, so I'll try converting it myself hopefully in the next couple weeks. And, by the way, why don't you also regularly search and see if the game has been converted or not? Here's the link to the 'Armv7' conversion:

[Q] Perfomance? Gameplay videos?

Hello!
I'm wondering how this phone perform in heavy apps and games.
I've searched for gameplay videos on youtube but haven't found any. Maybe my searching skills sucks. Can anyone here make a gameplay video? Or link to an existing gameplay video?
I'm about to buy LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation. So I'm just looking for some answers.
Does anyone know any LG O2X vs SGS2 vs HTC Sensation article/video?
Hi.
You can find some gaming performance on this video after min 13:00.

how did you get em to work as it doesnt recognise my phone on gameloft site. cant find em on the market
Thank you for the video!
What happend @ 14:26 ? Since he went to the Task Mangager I guess he didn't have enough free RAM to run the game. But shouldn't a phone with that amount of RAM don't run low on RAM?
Would this phone be the right phone for me if I want a phone that can run EVERY game that exists now. And every coming games for about 1 year?

The Sense UI is a real memory hog. It certainly looks nice, but it takes up a lot of memory. That's why I'm hoping HTC unlocks the bootloader on the Sensation soon than later.
i have been using the desire hd version for those games (cracked apk's)
and what happened @14mins mark was: that game is supposedly made only to run on tegra 2 devices but somehow this guy has found a workaround for it that still is a bit buggy !
about the ram: dont worry u wont run out of ram !
Alright! Thanks.
How much free RAM would it be possible to get? Without rooting or change rom. How much RAM would I save by maybe turn off some animations ?
Like I said before. I wanna be able to run heaviest games that exists now perfectly. And the coming games for a while. Is this the right phone then?

I guess it's quite good on gaming. But maybe gaming works better on another phone.
I guess that playing games eats battery on every phone But I can charge it while I'm playing.
Ah I got a question now. HDMI works on every TV, but it only charge the phone if the TV supports MHL? Is there any adapter, so I can charge it AND using HDMI without a TV that have MHL.

Yes they do have such adapters that allow you to do that which should be coming out soon. I believe I saw one in a Galaxy S II demo video a couple months ago that had two microUSB ports: one for the MHL connection and one for the phone charger.

He was trying to run a game optimized for Tegra - for some unknown reason it didn't launch on the first attempt (black screen), therefore he launched the task killer and force closed the game. He did not kill any other applications. After that, he proceeded and (this time successfully) launched the game a second time.
This definitively wasn't RAM related as there was still plenty of free space left.

Ah okay
The LG O2X does have randomly reboots. This one have a death grip and the camera app crashes. Samsung Galaxy S2, seems to be so plastic and slippery but that phone seems to be quite stable.
HTC Sensation doesn't have USB OTG.
All the phones probably have more bugs but that's a few of them. This is driving me crazy.
Is there a way to turn Sense animations off? That might help memory use and performance.

The search doesn't do anything, the video I saw him load angry birds with no mention of dungeon defenders. Although I asked if anyone tried it, not if there were videos of it. The game runs smooth on my SGS in single player, but in multiplayer it can get really laggy. He just showed that it boots fast pretty much.

First one... My point was single player vs multiplayer on dungeon defenders is way different on the SGS phones (which are listed as "mid range" for their specs, and the only thing better is Tegra2s).
It's not essential, I just can't find much info any where on the net about it (then again it's hard to find as typing "dungeon defenders sensation" brings up tons of forums that discuss both dungeon defenders and sensations but separately) and I have read the SGS2 (which isn't really an option for me, but I am presuming the Hercules will be similar) has problems with gaming. I don't think that will persuade me one way or the other but figured I would just drop the question in a gameplay thread.
I like the qHD screen, but I love my amoled... The benchmark comparisons is sort of worrisome as well, but I might end up with a sensation either way, as long as the bootloader gets unlocked.

NDS4Droid

If you dont know what this app is, its a Nintendo DS emulator for android phones that was never taken out of BETA.Since this has been removed from the market i think all development has stopped, i think this is a real shame because it has a lot of potential especially with higher and higher specs on android phones.
There are probably similar threads already but i think the subject has run dry and i want to keep the idea of such a cool app in android owners minds.
I was wondering if any developer would take up the job of either starting fresh or adding onto NDS4Droid app. I would but i have no clue where to start when it comes to coding so i cant be much help
The reason i have posted this into the xperia play section is because i would hope that eventually it would be controller optimised.
This is my second thing i have posted in the forums so sorry if i have done anything wrong. Feel free to correct me on anything
+1
This was just the kinda thing I was hoping for, seeing all the groundwork on it going to waste is just a shame :/ Hopefully an awesome Dev will pick it up !
Do you people understand why this project never got very far?
It was because of the hardware capability of our phones. It was not enough for a fully functional DS Emulator which is why development had stopped.
And even if someone did want to continue the Development of this for some unknown reason, then it is impossible because the source code never got released.
The hardware is stron enough, NDS is compareable to N64 but much lower resolution.

Try TigerNDS it supports physical button mapping
http://apps.tigerplay.info/
Also I do belive that with enough optimisations NDS emultion could run full (or near full) speed on the xperia play. Obviously you need to get a talented developer with enough free time on thier hand to actuall bother doing this.
If a new emu never gets made then we could use this current one with future hardware when it gets powerfull enough but thats still a good couple of years away and also none of the current NDS emulators have audio emulation...
Of course the hardware is good enough for the ds we are getting psp games soon which are better graphics than the ds.....

That is because the those games are direct ports and not emulated. Emulators require like x3+ hardware of the actual console which is why some PSX/N64 Games still lag because they are using "Emulation".
The games will be ports and not ran by an emulator so just remember that
NDS has like a 66mhz ARM processor in it. It should be possible hardware wise, but not so ideal in the physical side of things. Showing two 3" screens on one 4" screen will look awkward, especially since the screens are supposed to be one on top of the other.

I was hoping someone would bring this fact to light.
Quality DS emulation is definitely possible. I'm waiting on one of these NDS emulators to offer the option to only emulate/display one of it's screens. A lot of the times, the second screen could be completely ignored, and that'd drastically improve performance.
All I'd really want an NDS emu for is Phantasy Star Zero... that alongside many other DS games can be played using only one screen.
i'm sure that xperia play can support it . it's looooooooong time that i hope to see update for tiger NDS or NDS4droid
i'm really really eager to help someone ( donate ) want to start this project . i've sent sooooo many mails to tiger , but no answer .

yes! it is totally doable, especially on high end phones now, like my Galaxy Nexus. let's get to work guys!!
I already got PSP games Loco Roco Midnight Carnival in my Play, im sure this game is not a port, it run with Playstation Pocket just like Crash Bandicoot and PSXPERIA converted PSX games, only different by some software coding because it failed while i try to extract it with PSXPERIA.
PSP had better graphic than NDS, im pretty sure Xperia Play have more than enough power to run the game.

You cant not just port a game with was released for completly different plattform. You need the source code to do this and no nds game (except some homebrew) is open source.
Since NDS not a Sony's . We will never get nicely emulated game on our phone

I don't know if this is enough but you can easily convert the dex file to jar and then decompile the jar file to view the source of the emulator.

WazHack , new 2d rogue like!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wazhack.WazHack
Okay so the game is not free but you can try it for the first 300meters (the objetive is to go DOWN.
It is NOT Xperia play optimized , but since it runs on Unity , the dpad works for movement. Nothing else works. We might get this optimized if we push hard enough , i guess.
And last , the game looks very promising but unfortunately , it runs awful. At least on my phone im getting constant "ram lags" , FPS is stable at 25-40 but the constant pauses make it very annoying.
The game doesnt need any quick reactions (since enemies only move when you move) but it is definitely annoying , im going to wait for a patch , if it ever comes.
You can try the game on your PC here http://www.wazhack.com/play
Never had played a roguelike game before. Interesting. :good:
WTF? It's not compatible with my Xperia Play. Anyone managed to run it?
Sure it runs fine on my phone annoying lag. Google says it's a R800i (its not)

I am sorry to derail this thread a bit, but I am quite in a shock. Since I've bought my latest Xperia Play I am observing a worrying trend, many new games seem to be incompatible with my device. At least that's what Google Play Store says.
WazHack, Mutant Roadkill by Glu, and the latest Glu game Gears & Guts. I have a new R800i, unrooted. What's going on? Are these games really THAT advanced that my Xperia Play cannot handle them? Or is this a regional thing (some games working only for the US market)? Would appreciate any advice, thanks.
There are many versions of the xperia play, the developers need to enable them individually.
My R800i however can download it from the store just fine, unless they took it out.
Edit :yup they took it out, just side load the app, even stronger hardware sometimes gets forgotten among aaaall the android devices

I can at least explain why I took Xperia support off WazHack. Shortly after release I got an angry 1-star rating from an Xperia user saying how terrible it was on their device. As an Indie developer (like most app developers), I don't have a huge suite of test devices. So my assumption was that it was somehow not compatible with the Xperia Play. By default, Google Play makes an app compatible with any device that meets the version requirement (and screen, and a few others). Devices that would otherwise be compatible can then be specifically excluded. I did that as soon as I saw the review.
After a few days, I managed to talk to a player on the WazHack IRC channel who had an Xperia, and I sent him the APK directly. He said it wasn't perfect but well and truly playable. (by this time I had also added many performance improvements too).
Two things he did point out though, and these may well be the specific answer to your question:
Xperia players are more likely to be demanding of games - its a key purpose for there device
The controller-based interaction gives a different feel than than touch-to-move: the player can feel a lag or jerk much more.directly
So I hope that helps expain somewhat.
Just remember that app developers probably don't have your device, and the more "special" it is, the harder it is to support, but that you can help by talking with the devs.
Anyway, it's a commercial game, which as I understand is verboten here, so I'll slink back into the shadows from whence I came.
It's true, xp owners are very demanding.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I don't know why, but at least on my device, mutant roadkill runs flawlessly. Like zero lag, smooth frame rate.
Why not officially support it?

[Q] Should I use Flash / Adobe AIR development of Games?

Hey Guys, good afternoon. I need to know if it really worth developing mobile phone games using Adobe AIR. Did some testing with various animations and realized that there is a delay, but not both. What I'm afraid is to invest time and money, and be shattered at Play Store by putting a slow game. Wanted your opinions on the subject. Thank iOS and Android platform.
I would suggest you not to use flash any more. There are plenty of libraries easy for development.
There is a great amount of anamations in any game.
If you can, do not use Flash. It is a died technology, you will have problems with build in Flash in Games.
It is better to use build in animations.
Wrong - there are still many games developed for Android and iOS in Flash.
Check flashdaily.net for the new releases of such games.
Thanks
Woohoo awesome guys
Flash no longer supported on Android. Html5 being suggested.

Look at libGDX, it allow to build game for HTML5 as well as Android native.
Look again, lollipop supposedly supports non-hacked version of flash.

Hi
I have built a small game for ios and android using Adobe AIR, It's OK to use this tech stack.
But it's not your best choice.
You should know that many AS3 Developers just leave their area, accept new tools.
Flash is probably not the best choice but it work quiet good, some big company still work with them. The famous song pop has been develop in flash.
But if you are familiar with flash you could have a look to "Openfl" which is close to flash and have really better performance for 2d games.

Your device isn't powerful enough to handle the game. So,Consider another device. It's mainly because of the cpu.The cpu can't process the threads fast enough for the gpu to build it.And you have to build approx 800mbs of ram cache to play this game while the gpu picks up graphics and the screen displays it.And for this you need atleast cortex a15 or higher processors with least 2.2Ghz processing power and adreno 300.For beginners a note 3 can run this game.
