Audio fix? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone found a fix for the low audio quality, particularly in the Play Music app, where low volume adds a reverb sound to the audio being played?

I've not noticed this issue over bluetooth

It only happens when using the internal speaker. I'm guessing the were attempting to make the speaker sound fuller at low volumes, but failed miserably.

There's a MOD that helps.

[Q] Separate volume control for speakerphone?

The volume levels for the speakerphone and the ear piece, they just don't match when you switch them back and forth. When you're on the phone making a call, you'd have the volume of the earpiece set to your liking, and at some point you'd want to switch to the speakerphone, I find that the speakerphone to be way too loud. So you turn it down. At some point in your conversation, you'd like to switch back to your earpiece just to find out that its volume to be way too low to hear anything so you turn it up again. This is quite annoying.
Is there an app that allows you to control the volumes for these two operational modes, independently of each other? TIA
I agree with Ted A. This is a real annoyance, and I would love to see some awesome developer fix this issue.

If you're using Gingerbread, Volume+ can give bluetooth sound a serious boost.
You can purchase it from the android market here:
market.android.com/details?id=com.TEST.android.lvh&hl=en
Or install it manually for free from here (at least for now):
androidaudiohacks.com/home/
I've never had problems with music over bluetooth, but videos tend to be a lot quieter. Watching TV on a noisy train was very difficult before I got this app, but now I can hear it loud and clear.
P.S. Excuse the unlinked URLs above. I'm too much of a noob to post links apparently. Just add http

it's fine.. and do u mean the original uhpdate from at&t or a rom using gingerbread?
Bluetooth volume boost?
I have a Samsung Captivate that runs on Firefly 3.0 froyo rom. The problem is that the audio of music and most importantly videos are not loud enough. Voodoo control plus does a great job of increasing the volume for wired headset. But I use bluetooth headset to listen to music and watch movies. I can hardly hear the audio in noisy environments.
Can someone suggest some app or fix or mod to increase volume in bluetooth headset?
I came to know that volume+ app for gingerbread does this job. Any similar app for froyo? or Voodoo control plus can actually help with BT headset volume boost?

i found many user complain about this problem on google..
so anyone can help??
Many have used lgcamera from the market for this. It records in mono but sound is better, you can set to aac, 320kbs. Also you can select the bitrate for video. This is what I've done, while not a solution it works.
You may also want to try taking a look at the 'tuning system wide volume' thread in the themes and apps section. While the thread is mostly about boosting the overall volume of the phone, there is a mention of lowering the mic gain. If you have success with that, please report back with it.
I have used that thread to actually lower the headphone out gain, to get rid of some of the hiss one hears on music playback with low impedance earbuds.
Hope this helps.

[Q] How do I increase Bluetooth volume?

The overall volume on the Nexus 5 (and every Android phone I have had) is very low. I even just rooted my phone to adjust the volumes in "mixer_paths.xml" only to realize that I can only adjust headphone and speaker volumes there.
Is there a way to increase all media volume, or at least Bluetooth volume?
With almost everything I play on my Nexus 5, I have to set the volume at about 90% to get the volume right. That leaves no range if I need to increase it when something was recorded at a low volume. I would like to make it so that a normal volume setting is more in the 50% range.
Install Viper4Android sound mod from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/cz6l67mk81zsyq4/ViPER4Android_FX_v2330.zip
It increases the sounds system wide! If the normal apk install doesn't increase the system sounds, then push the apk in /system/priv-app/, fix permissions and reboot. It will surely work now

I found Viper4Android mentioned in other postings, but I am not fond of installing random packages off the Internet. Is there some way of verifying what that does before I install it?

I can assure you that v4a isn't some random mod floating around the internet. I've been using it since ages and it works perfectly.
If you want to know more about the same, you can follow this official v4a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
If you aren't satisfied with the official thread, then you can even follow the V4A discussion thread in the Nexus 5 apps forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/viper4android-t2543796

Questions go in the Q+A forum, not general. Normally I'd answer your question at this point, but there's no need. Next time use Q+A. That's what it's there for.

I wouldn't flash anything I don't trust either, but you have nothing to worry about with Viper.

You can also normalize those media files to the same volume as your other files. Easy to do if you're converting them yourself already.

I listen to things on BeyondPod and I haven't seen that they have any function for normalizing the audio. It would be nice since the podcasts seem to vary in volume. Actually, I guess that BeyondPod is the worst for having low volume. Pandora seems to vary in volume, but I don't usually have to set the volume to 100% to hear things.
Viper4android works
Sorry about posting to general. I don't know why I didn't notice there was a q&a section. I will know better next time.
I downloaded the source for viper4android from github and built it myself. Not that I went over every line of code before installing, but at least I know I made the apk.
https://github.com/vipersaudio/viper4android_xhifi
And it seems to work! At least for headphones so far, but I will try bluetooth. It is much, much more complicated than I was wanting, but I guess if it changes the gain, then that is great.
It's great for wired headphones. I don't see it being able to do much with Bluetooth volume though. Unlike every other volume, bt isn't kernel managed. It's managed in the bt stack. Unless viper does something special that I'm not aware of

It looks like the Viper volume gain adjustment does work with Bluetooth media as well on my Nexus 5, so things are working for me.

Audio Bug Using Mi Box S Chromecast Built-In

When streaming a movie using MX Player the sound does not come out correctly, it just gets loud speaker noise, only when I change the Audio output setting on the PCM Mi Box S to Auto that the sound works, but when Auto is active, I can't turn the volume up or down using the Mi Box S control.
This error does not happen with VLC.
