So i was wondering if its normal because every ear bud i plug in my phone, the right side is fine but the left side is all weird after rotating it or applying pressure to it, the left side works temporary
is this normal? and how can i fix it?
No it's not normal.. Maybe you have a loose or faulty jack

sigh my power button now this so a factory defect?
I wish they'd use more durable jacks. This happens to all my phones eventually.
my phone is only... 6 months.. , i used to think it was a pair of earbuds but it was actually my phone... do you know if there is a way to clean them?
It's not dirty. The contacts are bent.
how can you fix this? how does it even happen?

If it's only six months, can't you get it fixed under warranty?
I had this problem once, too. Check wether the plug fits perfectly into the jack! If it doesn't fit 100% (you have to see nothing of the plug) use a needle and clean the jack. I think it's pluff in there. But don't hurt your phone!

yes i'm pretty sure i can, virgin said that as long as the phone didn't blow up or water damage it might be able..
but then i don't think i can do the whole un rooting thing because it seems too complicated to me

My motherboard has quit working probably from rooting and overclocking. If anybody has any or know somebody that does I would highly appreciate it.

Can you describe in detail why you believe its the motherboard...rooting should have no affect on the mother board and the oc levels in the kernels are set at safe/stable levels...but being a fairly old phone it could've jut crapped out lol

probably a stuck power button
The first thing that happen, I tried to flash the Samsung ics rom with touchwiz ui, then it would come back one. I finally fixed it once and it had froyo so I tried to flash gingerbread from Odin and that's the last place it messed up. I've tried everything from gtgs ultimate unbrick to heimdall one click. I'm stuck with an IPhone and I hate it I would love to get my phone working again.
I think its the motherboard because I have no other damage besides regular where and tear, no scratches in the screen just the back side. I have no water damage so I figured its the motherboard because nothing else makes sense
Well what exactly is wrong with the phone? Does it not turn on? Does it boot loop? Does what response happens when you attempt to turn it on?
It may sound sketchy...but if you can't get it going you can ship it to me and I can try...you'll just have to pay for shipping both ways...pm me if your interested in that -otherwise...well try our best to help you through the forums

It gets into download mode and that's about it, I can sometimes get it into recovery but I can't do really anything. I only flash the kernel and I get into recovery and can't get anything out of it. I am very desperate and I'm thinking about sending it to you

If you can get into download mode then you should be able to get it running. Nothing to do with the motherboard..
Try the uclb3 heimdall one-click unbrick from qkster or some odin pack. If you are getting stuck during the process, switch usb cables & ports and keep trying.
If you give up and are willing to send it to mg, then go ahead; he should be able to do the job
I have tried every heimdall and odin. i will try to switch usb cords and ports and possibly computers, but i will probaly have to send it away if this dosnt work
Hey guys i know its a very critical conditions but there are so many guide in XDA so just search for it and relax
well i received the device today...and its even got me stumped...it almost seems like a power button issue but i know its not because it stays powered on through download mode...you can successfully flash a one click heimdal but then it just boot loops the charging animation...
as of now i think it may be a bad battery or the little connecter..but even then, why would it stay on while in download mode??
gonna give odin a try and see what happens...if odin doesnt work then ill see about getting a replacement battery and see if that helps...and if that doesnt ill have to ask permission to open it up and look inside and see if i see anything unusual
alright...ive discovered this under the battery...appears that something was removed and an inner part was scratched...can anyone verify that that whole isnt supposed to be there? (my infuse got stolen from my car a couple weeks ago)
that part under there i suspect may be part of the motherboard..and if it is scratched could be the likely cause of the booting issues - but still, why does download mode have no booting issues??
again this "hole" is on the bottom left corner of where the battery should be placed
I lied...after actually looking at the end results of heimdal...the flash isn't finishing...its cutting off towards the end and then rebooting...so maybe it is the power button...still...I don't think it is as the charging boot cycle is a good 5x faster then when the phone reboots in heimdal...I'm leaning more on bad battery
edit: 99% sure its a bad battery...as soon as I unplug it while in download mode the phone turns off...I used to be able to leave my phone unplugged in download mode for hours...

Kindve...he must've bricked while the battery died so the phone no longer knew how to charge a dead battery...
Once I got the battery charged a little the and ran heimdall I was able to charge the battery again with no loops
This is a common problem with the HTC vivid (my other phone). The vivid is known for not being able to charge a completely dead battery requiring you to get an external charger
Anyways...tmac I'm still waiting for your response...been about two weeks since I last heard from you...does this mean I get to keep your phone LOL message me asap

From there it can go to truckerglenn, then who knows. lol
Is this the beginning of the end?
If I press hard enough on my phone screen, the screen turns off until the pressure is released.. Any fix that won't cost me money.. Is my phone on the road to the trash can?
I'm actually pretty angry right now...
And it does this with maybe 1-2 pounds of pressure applied to the glass.. and it's never done this before -.-

Perhaps applying pressure is loosening the ribbon cable. Ive taken one apart and I find that ribbon cable disconnects rather easily. ofcourse taking the onex apart is a ***** as far as im concerned.

Maybe the cable is loose, but I watched some video where the guy said if the cable isn't plugged in completely the display turns off.
Maybe the pressure is pulling it away until released? I just hope the screen isn't dying for good.
I'm not sending it in to get it repaired, because I can't live with doing "fastboot flash boot boot.img".. If I can fix it myself (for less than $30) I'll be happy.
I'd hate to have my phone die on my now, especially since I started devving :crying:

If its the cable.. I believe the one all the way to the right is power. The thick copper looking one. And it slides in.. I'm thinking it may not be cable related... maybe the LCD itself.... you can always try reseating the cable though.

Well the screen will only stay on if the housing is removed.. works perfectly fine without it.. can press down as hard as I want and the screen works
FML
As far as i know, it is not a good thing,As with the Housing, the housing applies pressure to the phone..that's part of the reason my one x developed screen flex, on the right side...and it is issuing your problem as well. Or it is more likely the cable. Lucky i haven't had this problem yet :victory: . Hmm

I'm sure XDA members can help piece together a nice FrankenXone for you!
Gentlemen, I believe I have managed to brick my beloved Nexus 5. It began rebooting randomly a week or two ago, then several days ago it just got stuck in a bootloop (booting, shutting down, booting, shutting down, etc). I guess having the phone in a dock on my cars dashboard driving around in 97F degree weather with the sun shining in, caused the poor thing to overheat. I can't even get into a stable Recovery mode anymore, it just shuts down after a few seconds and then attempts to reboot. :crying:
I am fairly confident there is no remedy, but I thought I'd throw in my hat here to see if anyone has any pointers. I guess I am hoping for a best case scenario type deal. It is mainly the battery that would take damage from overheating, correct? If so, I might try replacing it.

Nope. i got it checked and its the whole motherboard. Now i got to buy a new phone. Still confused how a 2 feet drop did this..
I can say that the body can't holds up that figure impact, our n5 is a whole plastics haha... My fri3nds n5 dropped his at 5 feet from his bare hands on a carpet, guess what, screen broken and its frame gone loose,,, wow, nice build.... However nexus 5 rocks !!!!
I recommend removing the back cover and checking for loose or damaged connections. Also, remove and re-attached each connections and try to boot the phone.
