Hi guys,
I used the app "Hide It Pro" and hid about 800 files.
After trying to unhide them again, the app crashed and only about 140 files were restored.
As the Nexus can't be mounted as a mass storage device on PC, I can't use recovery software there.
I tried two recovery apps for android which found nothing.
Is there still anything I can try?
Edit:
Got everything back! The gallery just shows the 140 files, connected to the pc there is only 1 file visible, but using a file explorer on the phone actually shows that all of them are there.

Hi
I rooted and unlocked my one plus and then ran a backup for my EFS Partition using Terminal Emulator app. This created 2 files, modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin, which are on the root of my internal storage. I can see these files on my Root Browser on Phone. However I connected phone to PC and can only see internal storage. I have USB Debugging enabled and MTP. I also De-installed the drive and re-installed and still cannot see it. I tried different ports and also a different USB cable but still the same. I want to copy these files to my PC to have as back up
Anything else I should try?
Thanks
Are you able to see any other personal files/folders on your phone?
Don't have access at the moment but from memory it just showed folders like music, download. data, DCIM etc I think.
I was thinking if I could copy the files using file manager on the phone to one of the folders I can view then save these on my PC. That work? Would still like to know why I cannot see root files on my PC
Thanks

Yeah, I think you'll need to put them into one of the folders and then you should be able to see them using your PC. As to why this happens I have no idea though.

Do you know of any way to enable root viewing of the internal storage? So that I can just use Windows Explorer to view it?

Hey everyone,
Connected my nexus 5 to my laptop to transfer some files and it gave me an error some 000000x (something like that) and then what I see is there is nothing on my phone. The folders are there but no data. And then simultaneously I tried opening it on ES File Explorer on my phone and it didn't even showed the folders.
I restarted my phone but it was no good. Wiped data of media storage and wiped cache from recovery. But no result . I just need that data.
PLEASE HELP.
Really Appreciate.
DEVICE - NEXUS 5 (un-rooted)
PROBLEM - DELETED storage/emulated/0 accidently
I connected my phone using usb to computer, phone connected as a device and nexus5 icon was created with other directories, I clicked nexus5 icon and then clicked internal storage folder which has all the folders made on phone like music, downloads, android etc. As I was cleaning my phone of redundant folders and files created by apps. I came across folder naaed storage, it has another folder emulated which in turn had file named 0. I thought of it as a file created by some app so deleted (Shift + delete) it. All the images of my phone i.e DCIM, whatsapp, screenshots etc got deleted and phone memory got free. Now my Google Music app can't read my songs present on my phone. I just re-booted (restart) my phone and nothing is resolved.
Now, I connected my phone to compugter via usb, nexus5 icon is shown but when I click it "folder is empty" message is shown.
Please help to get files back and resolve whatever issues (i.e Google Music unable to read songs present on phone) have occured because of deleting that file

Those files are gone man, u might have been able to save them prior to rebooting the device but they are gone now and your going to need to flash the factory image in order to fix your file system, devices have a certain structure of creating file systems, that's why they tell ppl not to delete anything if your not absolutely sure u know what your doing, so like I said, those files are gone, u may be able to get your pictures back if they were backed up using Google photos, but u still need to flash the factory image to fix your file system

I'm trying to transfer app data from my rooted Nexus 6 to my stock Galaxy S8+. The Nexus 6 is on Oreo, and the Galaxy is on Nougat. As far as I know, Helium is the only method for backing up application data without root access.
Unfortunately, out of the 24 apps that I'm trying to back up, only 11 apparently worked. And yet they would ONLY backup to internal storage. I repeatedly get an unspecified, generic error when trying to back them up to the cloud. So I was forced to use internal storage. I then transferred the carbon folder to my PC, and then copied it to my new phone, but the backups aren't recognized.
I tried rooting the Galaxy, which worked fine, but after a few hours, somehow it randomly rebooted and got stuck booting to upload mode every time no matter what I did. So I had to load download mode and restore it to stock. I was pissed, to say the least, as I had spent well over an hour restoring and setting it up. If I could, I'd just copy over my TB folder from the Nexus again, and go from there, but that's not a viable option. I'm leery of rooting it again.
And before anyone asks, yes, I checked the permissions, and they were already all enabled, storage access included. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the fact that the app hasn't been updated since October 2016. Though one reviewer mentions that it works on Oreo just fine. Any suggestions?
Anyone?
I have tried to transfer apps and data just like what you did with Helium. I found some phone changed backup files when they were been copied from internal storage to PC. The solution was to compress them to a RAR file, then extracted it after copying to PC or new phone, so it could be recognized and restored.
The problem is some apps are "disallowed" to be backup, only part of them can be.

So you compressed them on the phone, copied them to the new one, and extracted them again? Then ran Helium?
Yes. Of course you can extract it on PC and then copy to the new phone, too.
And here are other key points:
1.The USB mode must be PTP, not MTP.
2.Helium can only restore data of apps, not including apps themselves, even though it says it can. To solve this problem, you can use another backup app to restore the apps to the new phone, then restore the backup files made by Helium.

I noticed this too. Then I installed FX File explorer and it gives an access denied message when trying to access that location. I ended up wiping my phone to start fresh thinking maybe something was botched after the update. I plugged my phone into my PC to transfer some files I had backed up and noticed that I have full access to Android/Data on my PC! It is full of files and you can copy and paste from there on your computer. I guess Android is trying to protect that location as there can be vital information stored in that folder. Hope that helps.

apparently according to Samsung the Android data folder is encrypted on Android 11!
Can you copy files to Android data from PC?
due to this restriction it is not possible to use the AppSystemizer module
