I noticed this too. Then I installed FX File explorer and it gives an access denied message when trying to access that location. I ended up wiping my phone to start fresh thinking maybe something was botched after the update. I plugged my phone into my PC to transfer some files I had backed up and noticed that I have full access to Android/Data on my PC! It is full of files and you can copy and paste from there on your computer. I guess Android is trying to protect that location as there can be vital information stored in that folder. Hope that helps.

[Q] Dropbox after formatting hard drive

Hey guys,
Since Dropbox basically is a folder on my hard drive, I was wondering what would happen if I would format my hard drive and thus delete the Dropbox folder. Will everything remain intact, be deleted or downloaded again later on?
Thanks in advance.
It's up to the dropbox app. The app it is monitoring changes to the folder, only copy paste rename delete but formating the drive will result in sync error.

But does that mean that the files will stay in the folder and that new files won't sync properly?

No, no, no.
If you simply format the hard drive then it will be as if you apply your DropBox account to a new PC. Once you install it, it will sync perfectly and pull all your files down to the newly-formatted hard-drive absolutely fine.
That sounds better, thank you. And if you format the hard drive and not yet apply your account to a newly formatted one, will the files be already accessible in the browser?

Same thing different perspective
And yes your file are accessible online in the browser or on any other device.

Hello People,
I'm agree Dropbox is a cloud. Right now I want to format my Mac and I have more than 60 GB in my dropbox folder. If I format my mac (I will lost all the information), should I have to wait (a long time) the sync between my computer and my dropbox before using the files OR can I copy and paste my files in the Dropbox folders (the files just before the format) and "nothing happened"?
Thank you so much for your help guys :good:.

You 'should' be able to copy the files and restore them, but if anything else changes on DropBox in the meantime you may end up with some duplicated files to weed out manually.

[Q]Can only view Internal Storage via PC and not Root

Hi
I rooted and unlocked my one plus and then ran a backup for my EFS Partition using Terminal Emulator app. This created 2 files, modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin, which are on the root of my internal storage. I can see these files on my Root Browser on Phone. However I connected phone to PC and can only see internal storage. I have USB Debugging enabled and MTP. I also De-installed the drive and re-installed and still cannot see it. I tried different ports and also a different USB cable but still the same. I want to copy these files to my PC to have as back up
Anything else I should try?
Thanks
Are you able to see any other personal files/folders on your phone?
Don't have access at the moment but from memory it just showed folders like music, download. data, DCIM etc I think.
I was thinking if I could copy the files using file manager on the phone to one of the folders I can view then save these on my PC. That work? Would still like to know why I cannot see root files on my PC
Thanks

Yeah, I think you'll need to put them into one of the folders and then you should be able to see them using your PC. As to why this happens I have no idea though.

Do you know of any way to enable root viewing of the internal storage? So that I can just use Windows Explorer to view it?

DCIM folder shown as an empty folder

Hello, I'm not sure if it's a bug or something but lately I have issues connecting OPO with my PC via USB.
Thing is, everything works fine except for the fact that DCIM folder is shown as an empty folder. And no matter what I do, every time I connect my phone that folder is shown as an empty folder.
Every other folder can be browsed normally, media in other folders is visible.
1) no, folder isn't empty
2) no, connection it's not in charging mode. No matter if I set it in MTP or PTP mode, same thing happens. DCIM folder seems empty.
3) tried on couple computers, win7 and win10 os, same thing.
4) doesn't matter if I connect my phone while it's active or in sleep
OnePlus One has latest CM13, it's not rooted.
Any ideas?

Why don't you try connect it via any other medium?
For example,
https://airmore.com/help/android/photo-android-to-pc.html
I'm not saying it's a permanent solution but atleast an alternative for now.

It happened to me too, and I solved with a file manager (I used ES File Explorer Pro).
I created a new "DCIM-new" folder, moved all DCIM contents to "DCIM-new", renamed original DCIM to "DCIM-old" and, finally, renamed "DCIM-new" to DCIM. When reconnected to PC in MTP mode, DCIM content reappeared in Windows Explorer.

Thank you, it's pretty nice app. Would be better if there is something like that but to recognize your device within your local network. Because now I'm limited by my up/down provider bandwidth.

Haven't tried that yet, I'll try and see if it works. Thanks :good:
Did that today and it worked. But somehow it lost 600 files after renaming folder back to DCIM. Old folder had little over 2000 files, now it has 1409. Have no idea what happened.
Was having the same issue, what you have to do is simply plug in your pendrive (if you have one)through otg cable and just copy paste your files to your pendrive and then to your computer.

Can't open .bak file with encryption! 2

So, my brother backed up my Samsung Galaxy S4 on his laptop about 3 years ago. Can't remember the program used. He gave me the backup file yesterday.
(I screenshotted the file name and attached it here titled " FILE BACKUP TITLE.PNG")
I edited the file, to a .exe. (eg “Samsung SM-G350E_20191001_103009.bak” delete the bak and write exe after the dot and press enter.) That way I can access everything through winrar. However all of the files are encrypted! We have no idea what the password is, what shall I do! (Attached the password screen in winrar titled " RAR.PNG")
It has 1000's of photos from 2014-2017, I have no idea on what to do. I've checked out brute forcing, but I wasn't sure how to do it.
Thanks.

What method was used to create the backup? It may require using the same tool that created it to decrypt it, but, without the password, you're pretty much screwed.
Whatever he used, it isn't the best way of backing up android devices. Methods typically used to backup/manage PC's are not suggested for android. ADB and custom recovery are the recommended methods of backing up android, you take your chances with any other method, as you have discovered.
For future reference, backing up your internal storage such as photos, videos and personal files doesn't require any special tools or methods, all you have to do is connect to PC, open your phones internal storage on PC and then copy all the folders there and save them on your PC in whatever folder you choose, no encryption is necessary. Then, all you have to do to retrieve data from that backup is open the folder containing the backup and everything will be there for you to copy/paste/move/open/delete the same as you can with any other file on PC.
Transferring data from that backup folder to a new device is as simple as connecting the new device to PC, opening the backup folder then copying everything in the folder then opening the internal storage of the new device on PC and then pasting the contents of the backup into the internal storage of the new device. It is virtually no different than copying files from one USB drive to another USB drive, you are just going it with phones instead of USB drives.

Thanks for your response, I thought nobody was going to reply.
We can't remember. All I remember is that my custom rom s4 (android 4) was hooked up to our mac laptop. Then we backed it up using some kind of backup program. Then it was updated to android 8.
Yeah I understand now, but at the time we were fairly new to the whole android scene. I have an s7 edge now, I just back everything up on google photos and the regular cloud service. What should I do? I really want those files back.
Thanks.

How to move old game to new phone

Could someone point me in a direction to find out how to move my favorite (no longer available) game from my old phone to my new phone (not rooted)? Thanks!!
Apk Export makes an installable copy. I have a 6+ yo office app that was installable to my Android 10, N10+ with it. Works perfectly.

Make a backup of the apk file for the app(there are many easy ways to do this if you do some Google searching) then go to the Android/data folder in your internal storage and then find the folder for your game(it will be labeled) and make a copy of that folder, this folder is the app data for your game. Then transfer the copy of the apk file and the copy of the app data folder to your new device's internal storage. Place the apk file in your download folder and then install the app from there then place the app data folder in the Android/data folder, then reboot the device and everything should work like you want it.
Thanks!!!! It worked!

I forgot to mention that you may or may not also need go to the Android/obb folder on the old device then find the obb folder/file for your game and copy that folder/file then transfer that folder to the Android/obb folder on the new device.
