Bootstrap was cool but it's sooo limited 2gb of user space for apps makes it useless. And also you can't install 4.3 or 4.4 roms

I'm trying to figure out why that is relevant to an AT&T update thread? Is there some way people on Stock AT&T can obtain MK9 through OTA process? I'm just trying to clear up any additional confusion for those that come to this thread looking for the latest update. And we both know there will already be a lot of confusion.

That's true, it is better, plus your ROM makes it even better than that. The problem is that most (almost all) of the people that will be taking the MK2 update are well beyond the point of being able to flash custom ROMs (above 4.2.2 with safestrap on MF3 anyway). So even if they want it they can't have it.
Awaiting a EMK2 modem in flashable zip form.
The latest T-Mobile 4.3 update, the new modem cannot be flashed unless you run the entire OTA update, which makes flashable zip modem updates a thing of the past. You can, but LTE does not work unless you run the whole OTA package which kills root and such... I'm hoping they didn't do the same for AT&T model.

Someone will need to pull the MK2 modem, and do their dev thing, that is way beyond my dev knowledge. I am running the TMO 4.3 MK2 rom right now, using a MJ6 modem on my att i337, running perfect.

You can run the MK2 release as long as it was built by a dev, which I have done and is safe, no safestrap needed, if you take the MK2 OTA on your phone it is possible you will be stuck on that release until someone cracks the bootloader....

MJ9 is also the AT&T failed 4.3 attempt. So there is an MJ9 for International and an MJ9 for AT&T.

You can do so as long as you are on MDL firmware, but people on the official MF3 or MJ9 (AT&T) can not do anything except use safestrap on MF3 and stay stock on MJ9. People that are taking the OTA from AT&T (what this thread is about) more than likely are not on MDL and therefore can not use any custom 4.3 ROM.

Just incase anyone was wondering, the questionable root method that worked with MJ9 works even on this MK2 build. So root still works technically using that method.

well, that didn't quite work
so I downloaded the file CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305 (hopefully that was the right one for 4.1.2 rooted). I booted into recovery mode, started odin. Chose PDF and selected the file, hit Start. After about 15 seconds I get a "Fail" message. Phone won't boot at all. Did I select the wrong image? How do I get my phone back?

Thinking that this was the wrong file, I went to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
and downloaded the For VRBMB1 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) file. That updated correctly via Odin, and phone now reboots. Looks like it's still at 4.1.1 however....
UPDATED 4-08-2015 with NEW ATT MODEM OC3 5.0.1 Modem
A NOTE TO CLARIFY MODEMS AND FLASHING THEM: Your Modem is your BASEBAND. Flashing a Modem will UPDATE your BASEBAND.
Flashing a Modem and Updating your BASEBAND does NOT change or lock down your bootloader at all/any further than it already is.
The BOOTLOADER is what determines how locked down your phone is and WHICH root/recovery method can be used.
IF you are on MDB or MDL BOOTLOADERS then flashing these modems will NOT effect your ability to flash anything or change your bootloader.
If you are on MF3 or Newer bootloader then you can use SAFESTRAP to have its recovery and flash compatible Roms AND these modems.
If you are on MK2 bootloader you can use MK2's version of Safestrap and flash compatible Roms and Any of these modems.
To VERIFY "WHICH BOOTLOADER" you have on your phone you can follow these basic instructions.
1. Get "Terminal Emulator" from the play store.
2. Open Terminal Emulator and then type "su" without the quotation marks.
3. Hit the "x" and close Terminal Emulator once you have granted it Root Permission
4. Open Terminal Emulator app, type "su" without the quotes
5. Type getprop ro.bootloader
6. Look at the first line that shows up which is the installed bootloader. It should read "something like"
I337UCUAMDB/ I337UCUAMDL/ I337***MK2/ etc. etc.
I have put the other ATT Modems here as well for users to find the ATT specific modems in one place or in case you need/want to go back to your previous modem. Flashable in CWM/TWRP Recoveries.

FOR SAFESTRAP MF3 and NEWER USERS
This is what a tester DeadlySin9 did. He flashed the MJ6 Modem and it worked fine. He then tested going back to the MF3 modem. So if your signal becomes worse you CAN flash back to MF3 Modem but IF you have problems you may need to follow his advice below. You can see his comments here:
DeadlySin9 said:
Baseband is back on MF3 after flashing. Interestingly enough it's booted into stock and safestrap isn't loading. SuperSU is loaded and giving toast notifications and even let me grant to TiBu. Will try reinstalling SS and/or rerooting and see what works.
Back into my Safestrap slot, modem stuck across reboot. Rerooting was necessary, although root wasn't lost (go figure). Data and service are enabled just fine. Will try going back to MJ6 modem

In my experience modems can be better or worse. It all depends on where your located in the country. What works good for one person may not work good for another. The choice of having more modems to flash can increase or decrease your data speeds/call quality.
It does not hurt to try out modems and find which one works best for you in your particular region.
You can always flash back just as easy with the exact same modem you had if it doesn't work better for you.

Not worth it, the kernel was rebased off of korg 3.4, which means our proprietary blobs are useless. We need our ril blob on tw for ril to function so...

Sounds about right. Or later as VZW does things in there own time. Too bad I'm already on kk. But it's good news for the ones who want kk on the locked bootloader

Easiest way right now would be to Odin back to ml1.

I think its because ml1 and nc1 are almost the exact same build.

You simply cannot Odin flash back to pre-4.3 firmware. 4.3 to 4.3 is fine like @ThePagel posted.

Isn't ml1 4.3 then since he said they're so close to being the same? What are my options then?

The kernel has been changed so saferoot will not work. I'm sure there are root methods for after the update but they won't be one click root. When I get home tonight I'll make a custom tar pre rooted for people who want to be on the newest build.

So I do not confuse you, you're referring to another file that is for those of us who have an unlocked bootloader. It is the VRUCML1 modem-ONLY zip, this is something that is useless to you on 4.3 but is useful to those of us with an unlocked bootloader.
Edit: this modem-ONLY zip is roughly 20 MBs in size. Completely different thing than what ThePagel has supplied with a link. Basically, forget what you read about VRUCML1 being unavailable because the specific file is of no use to you.
ThePagel posted the Odin flashable, stock image tar that is readily available. That has always been available and will continue to be so. That 1.2+ GB tar file is to return to fresh, out of the box factory settings.

Yes, they are the same. I was simply agreeing with ThePagel. VRUCML1 and VRUCNC1 are both 4.3. You can not flash anything pre-4.3, so nothing that starts with VRA** or VRB***. Those are off limits for you.

Since you are already locked into 4.3, once you ODIN back to ML1, your only options are saferoot, safestrap, and safestrap compliant ROMs which are pretty much all the 4.3 touchwiz ROMs. You can read all about them in these threads:

Old and slows ROM is probably the cleanest most stable 4.3 tw rom out there.

This is a link to the I9505G update file. It's of no use to end users, devs might want it I guess. AT&T certainly doesn't roll updates quickly so don't expect one for us too soon.

Nope. Nothing but I9505G until it is ported around in GPE's which it has already been in a few.
