Is there any brave soul that could edit proper system files for me and customize my Moto G Nav Bar Buttons..?
Or eventually help me by pointing the right direction..
Perfect setup for me would be: Menu/Home/Back.
Thanks.

You have to be rooted and then decompile and edit SystemUI.apk, just like me, I modded the navbar here too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546250
In order to mod the file, your system should be deodexed, this is way simpler.
Root the device and install "GMD Autohide Softkeys" app.
Aside from being able to hide the navbar and thus adding space, it enables you to swap the button position and choose from different button themes.
Thank you all for help..
Was nearly ready to sell my lovely Moto G just on that issue..
Now everything is back the way in wanted it..
Thank you again..

working just fine! Thanks.
Hi, Please help for LG G2 D802 Asia version, code D80210B_00, Thanks
Thanks for your work (even tho i have a different model).Just so you know tho,it will only work in the firmware you have now,you need to do that in every firmware release.Im saying that in order to save some from a bootloop.
I would like to edit my framework-res for the T-Mobile D801 version. Would you mind posting some directions for me to follow? Thanks!
I just tested this on my D802 Asia version model and it's working fine. However, landscape mode reverts the nav bar back to its original size. Would you be kind enough to fix this and also look into any optimisations you could make for the D802 Asian version as well, seeing as this is for the Euro model?
Do let me know how I can help by contributing any system files from my phone.
As i mentioned in the first Posting, i'am new to framework modding, but i do my best, currently i search
for the landscape fix (i changed the right things, seems that i have missed something....)
I've done this mod while i don't want to use an xtra app for this, also, i havent found an app that
works properly (including Plug & Pop)
Modding these files is truly an easy step.
I'll post a very little guide for the nav bar size later, there are many other guides outhere to learn such stuff
This mods can be done by everybody ...

Worked perfectly on my Asian 802. Used solid Explorer to replace the file and it crashed but did the job! Thanks a lot

Doesn't seem smaller?
I have replaced the file with root Explorer and rebooted but can't seem to see a difference.

it could just be 3 small dots in the bottom.
this mod cuts the navbar down to half size, this can be done easy by everyone.
Look in the Guide for theme modding: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455860
there is a post from me how this mod is done.

Hi, I'm using HiSense EG680 bundled with Smartfren (local Indonesian CDMA operator) and I'm using a custom Rom created by a local dev
I need a help about the system UI apk and everything that is related with the status bar and the dialer app.
The dev has set a centered clock on the status bar and a mobile network speed indicator also on the status bar, that cannot be modified by gravitybox
The problem is I don't really like the centered clock and the speed indicator, and on the dialer app the dev has set an image that not everyone would like it as a dialer background. I want the clock to be moved back to the left side and the indicator removed, and the dialer background like the default. but I don't know how to done it as I'm not so familiar with the compile and decompile thing
I need someone to help me with the problem, By editing the apk and send it back to me. you can see The screenshot of The problem in the attachment, I will send the files that needed to you
Thanks in advance

It'll be better if you contacted the developer of that systemui apk to help you as he'll be able to help you better than anyone else. Also if u don't like the status bar or dialer u can change it by installing another one which u like.

Okay so I assume that u have the required apks. Just go to the thread linked in my signature and follow the lucky patcher method (point 1) to install ur status bar. As for the dialer, it can also be installed using the same method, just skip the uninstalling part (begin from step 6)

Well I have a systemUI.apk that doesn't match my custom rom I guess
But thank you Atishay

Hey I think I found the solution to your problem but you'll need to tell me if you made a backup before flashing the new rom ? And no, I'm not going to tell you to restore your previous rom. But before typing any further I'd like to know the answer to this.

I don't know how mtk backups are like, but I guess there must be a system.yaffs2.img file in the backup. Download smanager here and use it to open that file. Now go to system/app and copy the SystemUI apk and install it using that Lucky Patcher method. Hope this works.
Or i would just like to say, download custom status bar. There are many themers out there. Just google custom status bar for your device. I did the same.

Hi all,
I've been searching for two days a way to reduce NavBar's DPI in Lollipop 5.1 Stock rom because they look too big to me. Since different people are looking for it (from what I've read), I would ask if someone that is able in this sector could kindly make a flashable zip for everyone (I really don't know how to... maybe with a guide I could try by myself).
Thanks in advance.
If you can't get that, get SoftKeyZ. Has keys of smaller size.

If no one wants to make this flashable zip this thread can be closed.
Thanks.

I've modified the navbar to 20dpi on stock 5.1 and using it without any issues.
You need to do change some variable values in framework-res and SystemUI apks as well as resizing the navbar icons.
Attaching a screenshot here to give you an idea about how it looks. Let me know if you need the flashable zips.

Thank you man! Could you explain how to change those values? I would make them 36 dpi but I wouldn't disturb you making a flashable zip...

Follow this link. It will give you a generic idea about how to resize the navbar. This tutorial is for kitkat, but the steps are more or less same. You need the latest apktool jar file and java 7 installed in your system.
Since lollipop some core things are changed most probably because of selinux and security stuff, so you need to use the manifest and meta inf files from the original apk otherwise device will boot loop.
Also you need to downsize the softkey icons in the System-UI apk, else it'll look ugly after resizing.
Finally if you lowered the dpi of your device, then resizing the navbar will increase the gap between the softkeys, some people will like that, but I prefer the keys to be as close as possible so that thumb's reach can be minimal. let me know if you want that mod too. Good luck.
Thanks man, but it looks too difficult to me... I don't know anything about decompiling, java, etc...
By the way thank you very much for spending your time answering my questions.
I'll stay on Chroma until GB is compatible with 5.1.

I was using Chroma ever since it was available for N5, but came back to stock because google maps was FC'ing continuously. Downloaded the latest chroma just yesterday night and still thinking of trying that once again to see how maps behave this time. Regarding navbar, typing the 'how to do' is much longer than modding the apk

I add myself to the discussion because on the web you can't find anything. For KitKat were available some zip file to flash via custom recovery on rooted device compatible with the stock ROM, but for Lollipop anything yet! 40 dpi would be perfect

the app drawer icon is easy if you're using a launcher like apex. just download an icon pack that you like, long press on the app drawer icon, press edit on the menu that appears and you can pick an icon from whatever icon packs you have.
the soft keys though, the only way i know how to change them is with the xposed mod xstana, but that only lets you choose from the themes that come with the module (some of which are free and some that require a payment)
those are the only ways i know, but hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in with other solutions
I tried xstana it doesnt work either but i really dont want to install any other launchers id like to find a way to modify the lg home and theme apks to produce the results im looking for maybe someone could point me in the right direction or maybe a tut on creating a module of my own
hmm thats strange...xstana works great on my stylo. hopefully another option presents itself...

Hello! I have been wondering if there is someone out there who knows how to switch Navigation bars. The Back button and the Recent Apps button. I would like to swutch their positions. Can I do it with the Stock ROM without XPosed by just editing system files? I know there is a way to do it with Xposed modules but I would like to try it first without Xposed if possible. I am running the Stock ROM , rooted. Thank you.

I think it's doable. You need to decompile SystemUI find navigation bar change position of back with recent, then recompile, flash SystemUI. :
Good Luck!
