Just got my nexus 5 and was wondering what's a good stable daily driver rom?

Best rom threads are not allowed here. What's good for you is not good for me. Please read sticky threads before posting

It's usually frowned upon with these kind of threads.
Before it gets closed and to answer your Q, stock.
You're always welcome to try out ROMS for yourself and see what you like.
they all are good. thats why we buy nexus devices! the good thing about owning a nexus is that all these roms are specifically made for the nexus. we dont need to have half-assed ports on a nexus, therefore they all run great. and @rootSU is right, these kinds of threads arent allowed on xda. hit the development threads and start testing out different roms, find one that both you and your device like
Ya I have been testing some just looking for stability and some input that's all.

i know this is the "wrong thread" but we all know Q&A doesn't provide many answers to questions like this.
Why do we not have any AOSP kernels after that last source release? there are a few Sense kernels that have come from it.

No development basically. Everyone moved on. There will be a new aosp kernel released soon. I know that much.

?
Q&A is extremely useful for all questions.
There's not one thread on the first few pages without some response.
thanks lithid.
to the other individual...you may want to note that i said "questions like this". even when EVO development was in full swing Q&A was of good yet limited use. it is a good place to get answers...but not ALL answers. but thank you for chiming in.
Sometimes the questions have already been asked and answered, so sometimes it may be necessary to search.

As far as I can tell most if not all genuine questions get answered usually within a few minutes.
Dev section is for development I'm sure this will be moved
free the dirk
Sounds like we have a bunch of wanna mods, or post count whores. Its not our job to maintain threads, reguarless of this being in the wrong section or not, we should still try and work together. This might be the only thing that will continue to make android stronger, having a great support community.

While rootSU is correct, and it tells you how to update in the sticky, that stick is not the best (lots missing) regarding the OPs question.
Also, users would find it more helpful if you provided a link to the thread you refer too, so please try provide a link to the said sticky, but I will guess that you mean this one?...
[FAQ] [REF]★ All you need to know about Android | Read this before you post/root !
As it does not tell you how to check your version, I will help you out.
Go to Settings > About Phone. (At the very bottom).
Then see your Baseband version, the latest Baseband version that came with Build "KOT49H" is "M8974A-1.0.25.0.23".
If yours matches this then you are on the latest, and doing a stock recovery and factory data set as the sticky indicates will not upgrade you further, use the search to find older versions to see if they fix your issue.
Hope the above helps,
Rob.

Whilst "on paper" your request seems to make sense, I find a fundamental flaw in it's logic.
The problem is the stickies are there to be read but they are ignored or missed. I personally find that teaching a new member (or anyone not au fait with sticky threads or xda rules) that direction to the stickies in context is much more effective than a link to an individual sticky. In fact, I would go as far as saying the provision of links is actually detrimental to a members' progression within xda, ergo I purposely omit links from my answers.
Where as I respect your wish to be helpful, please understand that others (eg me) have our own ideas about how we think a thread is best responded to so I would ask that you please refrain from being condescending in your quotes of senior members.

Flash this zip: http://goo.im/devs/bigxie/hammerhead/LGD820_KOT49E_RADIO.zip
As they said above look in your settings to see the radio although I would say that you probably do not have the updated one, hopefully. Your 3.5g (H+) signal may be better than the LTE signal that you receive. LTE is very spotty on AT&T and is not in a lot of areas.

Hey guys, whats your best kernel and settings for your nexus 5?
Since you've posted in the wrong forum (questions go in q&a) then I guess you've missed this sticky thread

best doesnt exist.
what if i said the best color is blue-green? there will be an ample amount of people that disagree with me. but to me, the best color is blue-green. to someone else, their experiences differ, they might like red, or green. its the same with kernels and roms. we all have differing needs, differing expectations, differing wantsk, and on top of that, all our devices react differently to them. to find your best rom/kernel, you have to try them out, with differing settings. you need to find the rom/kernel that suits your personal needs best, the rom/kernel that your personal device reacts to best. the only way that this will happen is if you try them all out.
I've had my Nexus 5 for about a month and I love almost everything about it. The one thing that I don't like is the stock dialer. I tried to stick with it thinking I would get used to it, but it just doesn't look/feel right. So my question is, what other dialers are people using that they prefer over stock? Also, I am not rooted and would like to stay completely stock unless there is an amazing dialer that requires root.

I use rocketdial because I wanted something to support landscape in the car dock. It works ok but it still relies on the stock dialer which would always come up in portrait - so I had to install ultimate rotation control to get the stock dialer to recognize that the phone was in landscape. I bit convoluted but it works.

Sorry, I'm fairly new to these forums, didn't know there was a rule about bumping
So i've had the nexus for several weeks now.
tried the stock for a bit, did like it but missed some customizations offered by other custom Roms.
Went to Euroskank for a bit also, a big improvement on customization and is a very stable rom.
Now i'm on Carbon, seems stable for a nightly, love the PIE features and ability to customize the notification and status bars.
So the point of this post is more to hear what the user that have had this phone longer have to say.
Whats your favorite rom, and why?
lets keep on topic and try not to bash anyones work at the same time.
thanks in advance for any replies.
Topics like this can lead to Comparison of roms which is against the rules. Have a read at rule no.4 please: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2500184. Try out the roms for yourself.
Well wasnt what i was looking for or intended, so i guess mod can delete when ready.

Lol
1 - question in general forums completely ignoring the sticky to not post questions here.
2 - no favorite rom or kernel threads and this one is titled literally favorite rom.
Not even bothered to read a single sticky. They are stickied for a reason.

The reason that comments on Youtube, yahooo, Cnet, ZdNet, Gsmarena and another 100 pages with Posts system SUCK is beacause the moderation also Sucks. That being said, If XDA didn't have this Rules and active moderation, it would've been a disaster community as well.
I thank to Mods for keeping this place clean, educated and resourceful. It also would be harder for users to feed from a source with too many repeated questions and mixed answers.
As others have mentioned best ROM/Kernel threads are not allowed on XDA. The question in its self in subjective, everyone has there own needs for their own use, best advice is to head over to the development section try some out and see which best suits your needs.
Thread also cleaned please keep your posts respectful guys, meaning no name calling.......................
