Hi
I have problem with my nexus 4. Whenever I'm trying to connect to USB device is not getting detected in mode as well as fastboot mode.
I have tried it on win normal 7, xp and Mac. adb and other drivers are up to date. I'm using android 4.4 KitKat baseband KRT16S factory image. Device is unlocked and rooted with clockworkmod recovery. I tried flashing different versions of recovery using ROM manager. Tried switching USB storage options 'media device MTP' and 'camera PTP'. I have also tried to reinstall drivers on Windows but no luck ( Mac doesn't require drivers )
my other device, which is nexus 4 and with same software works fine. Seems something wrong with my device only.
Please suggest solution. Thanks !

"USB-Debugging" enabled?
Are you really sure you enabled "USB debugging" under the "Development Options"?

yes. I tried both the ways enabling/disable USB debugging. Device is not getting detected in any way.
Did you try a another USB?
Also The nexus 4 Has it own section, if you post it there you have more chance to get a good reply, that could fix your problem.

I have a T-Mobile Nexus S that has a bootloop. Its my friends so I dont know what he did to it. I can get to the bootloader but when I connect it to my computer it won't recognize it. I thought of a driver problem but i can't get past the bootloop to enable usb debugging. It also won't show up in device manager. The phone's usb port works. It will still charge. I just need to get rid of the bootloop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If it has a custom recovery, boot into it and wipe data/factory reset.
If it does not, flash a custom recovery. These forums are chockful on guides how to root, flash stuff and fix bootloops.
I looked up how to install recoveries but when i plug in my nexus to my computer it is not recognized. At the bottom of the bootloader screen it says "USB Control Init" and then "USB Control Init End". I do have the proper drivers installed. Is there a fix for this?
Are you sure that you have the correct drivers installed, though?
It's known that people who use Windows have a lot of success with the PDAnet drivers (you can search around here for those), rather then with the standard USB drivers the Google SDK provides.

Did you try to run "fastboot devices" in command prompt while it's at fastboot mode and plugged into the PC? What do you see as the result? The guides on XDA should help, but you may also head over to nexusshacks_dot_com for more references.

What is the setting that I should look at for Slim Bean?
Try rebooting your phone while plugged in and reboot your computer after installing drivers

Hi, I'm running windows 8.1
I've installed nexus root kit with appropriate drivers. I've rooted my nexus 5 which still runs 4.4.
But since a few days, I can't see it anymore using USB connection, neither as a multimedia neither as a photo device.
A bit disappointed with this since I need it !
I've tried to follow NRK steps without success.
Any idea or suggestions ?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm having the exact same problem.
It's literally like earlier today I had my Nexus connected to my computer and it showed up as a drive as per usual. Then I disconnected it for whatever reason and a bit later when I tried to reconnect it, it no longer showed up at all. I've tried it on multiple computers, in both media and camera mode with usb debugging on and off. Basically I've tried the obvious stuff, but it just no longer shows up.
If you guys used ABD to sideload 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 then you will need to take off the drivers for that before your Nexus will be recognised as a standard media device in My Computer - it's because the ADB overwrites standard Google USB drivers
Had same issue yesterday
Turn off usb debugging. Mine only recognises it as a storage device with it off

Interestingly enough I had the problem with the PC not recognizing my phone.
When I turned USB debugging ON, *tada* it worked. I don't know the background why this even makes a difference.
However for me it worked.
Disabling debugger change just nothing, neither than disabling developer tools...
I used Wugfresh's Toolkit to get the drivers. Make sure you use the usbdeview tool to delete any other drivers on your computer associated with the device. Then I did the install of the PDAnet drivers through the toolkit. When installing the drivers, there is actually a prompt that comes up on your phone that you have to "ok" as well. After two hours, that is how I got the drivers to work on Windows 8.1.

Which system are you using? Windows? Linux? Mac?
Was it working before?
To get help, you need to provide some details...

Try this: http://koush.com/post/universal-adb-driver
Or if you prefer the drivers provided by Google, use this - http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Go to device manager click the option to see hidden drivers and delete the old adb driver then get a fresh driver like the ones that have been posted. I had a similar problem as well.
I tried to access my phone's internal storage but the phone doesn't show in My Computer. The Portable Device in Device manager says MTP USB device and it has the yellow triangle on it. The Samsung driver is the Android Composite ADB Interface with no triangle. I have debugging on but the MTP device driver always fails whether debugging is on or not. I used Koush's drivers found here on XDA but same old thing. The Portable Device used to show up as A0001 and /or One but now it doesn't and I don't understand how that happened. Can someone enlighten me and perhaps solve this problem? It's been very frustrating as I just spent 13 hours trying to get my phone working (Thanks Heisenberg for fixing) and now another 6 trying to figure this out. Please HELP if you can. Thanks!

Even I had faced this problem on Windows 8. I had installed drivers 4-5 odd times. But later I just flashed CM11S zip via recovery and enabled USB Debugging Mode and it finally got recognized on my laptop.
I was facing many issues with all lollipop ROMs. Hence I reverted back and now everything is working fine.
I, too am using CM11s as Lollipop has too many bugs for me at this time. Maybe I'll try re-flashing CM and see what happens. Thanks for the reply
My question is: How can one flash from recovery when the file that needs to be flashed cannot be sent to the phone because it's not recognized by the computer?
Nevermind...I figured it out and flashed 11S successfully! Everything shows up now on computer. WOOT!
