I need a hdd 1TB to enter all the users reporting failed recovery faoled to flash rom etc. Go check the thread you are fanboy of

do people still use CWM recovery??

I don't like either, but Sticking with CWM for now. I hope we can work on bringing Philz recovery to the N5 when he updates sources to CM 11.

This is a link to the development thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
To get this on the N5, we need to be able to first, compile stock CWM on our device (well we know that can be done). Then we need to be able to compile Philz source on our device tree in the same way. Then Phil will be able to release for the N5.
Of course, he will need to update his sources to CM 11 first, which will take time but once he does, we can do post 2 of that thread.
Please, no one reading this post go into the Philz development thread asking for support or ETA!!!

TWRP because I was not happy that CWM was charging extra for the touch version even though I had purchased rom manager. TWRP offered it free and it looks better.

Anyone with TWRP have wiping / flashing rom issues?
We no longer need the rm -fr with 2.6.3.4 to wipe normally?

I like CWM but I just love the simplicity of TWRP so TWRP for me.

[ATTENTION] DON'T INSTALL CMW Recovery INSTEAD USE TWRP

Don't install CMW Recovery it is not recommended for AT&T, Rogers HTC One X
"CWM does not officially support our device, and its just a port. Due to this, CWM has some serious and known problems. As already mentioned, USB mount doesn't work. Also, it has been known in some cases to cause some major issues with dialer and other phone functionality after flashing a ROM. Problems that persist even if you try flashing another ROM or restoring a backup. These problems are difficult (although not impossible) to fix, and a big headache.

Simply no reason to use CWM. People only use it, because they have used it on other devices.
Just stay away from CWM. Use TWRP.

It will work most of the time. But when it doesn't, boy you are in for some "fun" times.
Just switch to TWRP. Its a great recovery, don't be averse to it, just because its different than what you used before. In this case, the more widely known choice (CWM) is not the best one, and can give you serious problems.
Yeah.... I didn't know CWM wouldn't work on my HTC One X. I installed TWRP and everything worked fine. Since I had CWM installed, it won't affect my phone will it since I installed TWRP over it?

Its not that CWM doesn't work, per se. CWM works most of the time . . . except when it doesn't (and causes big problems).
CWM is not going to affect your phone in any way, now that you've installed TWRP. Recovery was overwritten by TWRP.

However I swapped over to Philz recovery and it flashes flawlessly. Please report if this works with CWM or other recoveries.

FYI: TWRP has nothing to do with what issue you may be having in regards to flashing. I have no problem with my stock rooted ROMS. Will flash on TWRP just fine. If you have an issue post the error and I can help you troubleshoot it. More than likely its bad binaries or something. Some recoveries are certainly more picky than others.
Also, you should post the device type so people dont try to flash this on the wrong version of Nexus 7 2013. There are a couple models.

[ROM][Flo][4/17/15] - Stock Rooted - Android 5.1 - LMY47O! Recovery Flashable!

AS the name implies this is a stock rooted Android 5.1 - LMY47O Lollipop ROM!
The one we have been waiting for!
Features
100% Stock
Rooted / Powered by SuperSU by @Chainfire!
Busybox
No other edits
FSTRIM on install
Notes:
Should update bootloader. It is attached as a ZIP file but is not flashable! You need to fastboot flash it. For those in windows I have batch file in there along with ADB and fastboot.
First boot is a loooooooooooong time! About 5 to 7 minutes!
You must be on Latest TWRP to enjoy this ROM. No other recoveries supported however they may work.
Troubleshooting
If you get no status bar reboot to recovery and clear all cache. If that doesnt work try flashing the factory image then flash TWRP again and then this ROM.
Getting Symlinks failed during install? Make sure /system is unchecked in TWRP mounts

[Q&A] [TWRP][osprey] TWRP for Moto G 2015

Q&A for [TWRP][osprey] TWRP for Moto G 2015
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [TWRP][osprey] TWRP for Moto G 2015. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
worked smoothly
worked well! temporary boot went swimmingly, and root went with no problems. phone arrived from amazon and had an unlocked bootloader + rooted in under 8 minutes =) very many thanks to you!
working well up untill i flshed xposed...
Recovery works perfectly for me. Thanks a lot!
So guys, let me be the one who asks first: how are you guys rooting the MotoG3?
After unlocking the bootloader & installing TWRP as described in the main thread, when you go to reboot, the recovery points out that you're not rooted and asks if you'd like it done. Neat & simple.

No, it's not yet official. I need to fix encryption support. I haven't had time to look into it. Once encryption support is fixed, then I'll look at having it made official. It'll probably be a few weeks before I get around to fixing crypto. So if anyone wants to fix it themselves, feel free to do so and submit a pull request, and I'll gladly integrate it and give credit.
As @vandermark says... "It looks like USB-OTG is not working in this TWRP"
It simply shows an unmount button. No option to mount.
Apart from that all good. I have not tested apart from flash SU

Crypto support

No, it's not yet official. I need to fix encryption support. I haven't had time to look into it. Once encryption support is fixed, then I'll look at having it made official. It'll probably be a few weeks before I get around to fixing crypto. So if anyone wants to fix it themselves, feel free to do so and submit a pull request, and I'll gladly integrate it and give credit.

Thank you so much for all your work! I will be sure to donate to keep you motivated
Didn't knew it Crypto was not supported until I encrypted my phone and ran into 'twrp could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer' error. I am awaiting the crypto support for making my regular backups using TWRP.
Which one is better
Was wondering whether the cyanogen recovery or TWRP would be better??? I dont plan on using any advanced stuff just the basics to flash CM and blackups

twrp is MUCH better then the cyanogenrecovery....
in your case you only want to do the normal flash... BUT if you get stuck twrp can help you out... with a inbuild filemanager and mtp/adb support ... cm cant

I'll second what SdtBarbarossa said. If you could look at both recoveries side by side you'd probably know right away which one you'd prefer. I don't see how you could go wrong with TWRP.
