So i already started messing with LCD Density
brought down to tablet UI 190 Nothing (crashes Touch Wiz)
also tride 170 samething just smaller icons and txt
brought back up to 320 and now touchwiz is permanetly messed and Tablet UI No where to be found
also tryed to bring up 2 360, 420, LULz, 540 <~~~ not good by any means
if you mess with density dont forget to install another Launcher if you forget to install a Launcher turn on easy mode it works on all densities
im woundering if they took out tablet ui in jellybean or if it is under a different density will look more into it

i am not going to have an argument here but this isnt developmental. Everyone who has had an Android in the last 3 years knows about changing the density. You can do it as easy as changing the build prop.
Just saying our threads are over booked with threads that are irrelevant.
Also you will not get tablet ui on this touchwhiz because it was not designed to be in tablet mode, Just like AOSP roms after 4.2. They removed that feature
Since 4.2 the tabletUI is gone from google-side. There is also no tabletUI in the new Samsung Tablet Note 10.1 (2014). All i know is Xperiacle is on the right way. Please be patient, he has a lot to do with mods/apps for our Note 3 and has a real life. If it´s possible he will do it. I am also a TabletUI freak and i can wait.

the ressources need to be added back in . its doable but very time consuming .. and the fact tablet ui doesnt exist anymore (even for tablets) makes it much harder to make that stupid smali language to work . form one version to another , I would also like to add that this mod isnt very popular , the last time ive done it (for the note 2) there was very small interest in the rom after it was released ...

yep, i do it with the auto-patcher (i hate smali coding)on my tablet till 4.2. Here I think the systemui is/was the point.

I'm happy folks are discussing this. With the floating windows possible by short cuts or pen launcher there may not be as strong a desire for tablet ui but what I think would be good is to extract some from the apks form Note 10.1 (2014 edition) and get them to nicely fit and work on Note 3. There is a deodexed version of its rom and I extracted some of its apks. but the only one I got to work so far was MyFiles. Hope folks have more success than me!

i use the splanner and the tabletjobmanager from the P600 2014. I also tried the email and contacts. At the email the will start and i can see the app for a short moment and than FC. The contacts is half working like on the Note 1 on the begining, all is working, dialpad, protocols and favorits. But when i hit contacts - FC. I also tried the secMMS from the P601, the result was a bootloop and Odin . Tonight i´ll try the contacts from the N900T, i love the white.
Edit: What dpi are you using, also 240?

Optimus 3D ROM
Android 2.3.5 - Baxter Edition
The ROM is based purely on the official 2.3.5 release of Android for LG Optimus 3D, the idea is a small flexible, fully working option to stock ROM.
You need the new baseband as with all 2.3.5 releases which should be installed with an official upgrade.
What has been done:
Removed about 100-120MB of media and bloatware
Added ADW Launcher and GO Launcher - both can easily be uninstalled (LG Launcher can't yet because of LG design, will see what I can do about that)
Switched out a few icons
Tweaked heap size
With the removal of LG Space I remapped the 3D button to open the Camera (can't take pics with it, at least not yet)
Repacked boot.img with tekahuna OC module booting at 1188Mhz
Deodexed all apks
Zipaligned all apks
Bugs?
Non found so far - let me know
DOWNLOAD
232.16 MB
To uninstall ADW Launcher, GO Launcher and/or LG standard Keyboard just go to
Settings >> Applications >> Manage Applications
Wipe needed if you are coming from Rich Mahogany!
Install
Enter CWM or use ROM manager
Backup old ROM
Wipe user settings
Install zip
Reboot
PATCHES
INSTALL LIVE WALLPAPER
INSTALL WEATHER WIDGET
Retired ROMs
Rich Mahogany
(ROMs are retired and name changes when I build from a new source)
To change pixel density just download a pixel density changer from market, put it at standard density to avoid market incompatibility with some apps.
The Phone now (IMO) runs better, it has 220-270MB free RAM after a clean boot the first (left) picture is before zipalign, the second (middle) is after and last but not least right ([email protected])
Nice work! You should also include a density change to at least 200 or 220.
240 is to high for our 4.3" screen imo.
Great work! I'm trying tour ROM now with very good results!

So, we have an improvement, TouchWiz UX is currently WORKING on Kindle Fire, I have tested it and no crucial bug for a user except for the CM9 stuffs and a small DPI of 120, but it is WORKING with a DPI of 120, a little small? Your eyes will adjust. If you want to test it, here it is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6b65sayjfz86fd3
Go to Google Play Store and use any apps possible to change your DPI to 120, then use root explorer or adb to push it over /system/app and install it! You should be good to go!
Here's what the first version of it looks like:
http://db.tt/WqRG8e64
http://db.tt/S7bmuvyR
Special Thanks to bobrien4975 for making this
What not working that I need help with! Coming Soon
* Working with a DPI of 160, 120 is maybe too small for a good use on a tablet.
* If you have the Galaxy Tab 7 or 10.1 rooted, go to system/app and get us the TWLauncher.apk , Framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
* No Wallpaper on Lock Screen
* Soft buttons and notifications that looks like TouchWiz UX. (I guess for this we need a ROM, right?)
Oh, and don't update any apps on Google Play now, if you want it, I suggest changing the launcher then the dpi and update then change the dpi and back to TouchWiz!
sadly no
I spent hours last week trying this... no success the resoultoin on the launcher is weird and doesn't fit right i got contacts app to work and that's all

That's a good start! My KF forces close every time I use the launcher, but it seems you got it running, do you still have the apk or anything so I can test it out and find a solution! Or at least somebody will!
You'd have to port a TW Rom. Like the Stock HC 3.2 Rom on the Galaxy Tab 7. It's mostly AOSP. But I know TW ports are hard, you'd have better luck with HC Sense.

I see ur point, thanks for pointing that out for me! I guess if it involves ROM porting we should focus on the cm9 first, maybe our awesome devs will do it after their cm9 project! But I still can't see why can't we just port the launcher or make a typical theme at least! Is TW UX built for Honeycomb or are there other reasons? Thanks

Hey bobrien4975,
Can you send me the apk of the launcher and the framework apk file that is in /system (asuming that you do it this way) and all the files involving this.
I would like to test it, I hear it crashes a lot but it's great to have a try on TouchWiz and see what is the problem.
Can you upload it or something and make it a Alpha version so others may help with the progress and perfect it.
Meanwhile, I will try to get some information and try to port the Soft Buttons and Notification as I see you didn't get it working, I will try to borrow my friend's Galaxy Tab 7 and get the files I need! Made this into a development thread, not a question thread, hoping to get TouchWiz working!
It takes a while for your eyes to adjust to the small density, but when you do, it's amazing, the launcher really is, and for an average user, I don't see any crucial bug here (except for the CM9 stuffs), it's beautiful, not as small as I imagined it would be, and I fooled a dude at my school claiming this is the Galaxy Tab 7!
Nice yeah I kept it at 120 I like it

Have anyone tried this, I am looking for a bug report, I am not seeing anything on my Kindle except for the not working Lock Screen lock!
When you changes the DPI, some apps in Play Store seem to be updating and some apps forces close all the time after update, so let's not update any app for now, but installing new apps seem to work great!
Hello there,
I just recently installed a Custom Rom on my Nexus S after being on stock for 2 years+. Reason being that it was quite slow so I thought I give a Custom rom a try. I choose to go with SlimRom since it's quite new and I feel excited about the new 4.2.2 Android. Also I used a custom kernel (marmite).
The problem I am facing is that on the first flash (try) I had a perfect ROM until I faced a problem with Exchange and Email application crashing constantly so I followed the advice from the FAQ to wipe data and try again. I thought it would be a good idea to reflash the latest SlimRom as well since it was fixing the Gmail problem with toast notifications. After that point and after some Apps doesn't render correctly. It's not just one (then I would say it's the app) and it's not all of them. So I am posting here in case you have a better idea of what's happening. See the images I attach for get an idea of what I am talking about. In the Chrome application the tab number is like moved some pixels down and on the other application (Online Radio app) the button is moved few pixels up.
Anyone happened to come across that? Any suggestions to fix it?
Thanks
Hi
I would suggest putting this in the development section under the slim ROM section so the developers can help out
But what DPI are you using?
Good luck

That was my first thought as well, but unfortunately I don't have enough posts to let me post there. If an admin can move it there it would be great.
DPI setting : 182 (default from SlimRom)
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
setting to stock [240] DPI has always
cleared squirrly display errors
both on my old 4G and the current 9020a
i use to run 220 and could go back to it
and it would desplay correctly...

OK, I forgot about the development section requirements.
But like the previous post mentioned... The DPI should be changed to stock 240 or what he has at 220. Give it a try to see what happens.

I tries setting the DPI to 220 and I saw some improvement. So I gyres it's a combination of the custom DPI and the apps. I can survive for now with the rendering bug since I like the small DPI (182)
Thanks for the suggestions

I'm not smart enough to do it myself.. however, I am still amazed that no one has been able to work out how to convert an i9505 into a i9505G. I know the partition layout is different, and I also know that there are ported 4.3 GE roms available.. BUT all of that aside.. has Samsung won the war here?
Which leads me to a separate subject.. but.. their knox efuse.. while it hasn't been long.. it looks like they have won there as well.
In any case.. I'm more interested in the conversion to i9505G. Does anyone know more than I do about the status or possibility of ever being able to convert a i9505 to a i9505G?
Well.. This is not as easy as you may think.
Need someone who has both I9505 and I9505G. Also need special connection to I9505 like JTAG to get direct access to flash. Then using JTAG try to dump whole flash from I9505G and upload it to I9505. And then depend on success and whole result, procedure can be simplified.
But JTAG is required at experiment stage if you are not so rich who can afford to buy tens (if not hundred) I9505 while experimenting
A full conversion (think about bootloader, radio) is not possible.
Samsung secured the bootloader very agressively .

I couldn't care less about running ROMs. I unlocked the bootloader but otherwise I leave my devices stock and unrooted. I know how to root and install ROMs but once I knew how, my curiosity was satisfied.
Honestly, I have had Nexus devices my entire Android life. I decided to branch out and try a GS4 with Touchwiz. I really liked my I337, so much in fact, that I also ended up purchasing a Galaxy Note 8.0 as well. There are definitely things in Touchwiz that I'd love to see Google add to the stock user experience. I'm referring to things like air view and having separate wallpapers for the home and lock screens. Alas, though, when you've used stock Android as much as I have, it's hard to use anything else.
The only thing I truly miss about Touchwiz is the camera app. The camera was simply amazing. The other things that are important to me, namely the IR blaster and the S-View cover functionality, both work flawlessly on the I9505G.

What i dislike most in stock Android is halo theme. It's really ugly. Micro check-boxes. Ugly seek-bars. Alert dialogs are too flat and sketchy. Halo theme looks more like concept than theme for daily usage.
TouchWiz theme was odd originally in time of SGS2, but it was getting better and better. On SGS4 it's nearly perfect. May be some elements like ViewPager and title bar need to reworks somehow. But overall it's way better theme than Halo. Also, there are many useful addons in TW ROM like quick settings panel, nice looking lock screen with quick launch shortcuts on the bottom, and other small tweaks making TW ROM much more useful than naked Android. And it's easier to remove unneeded apps/services/tweaks from TW ROM than add them into naked Android.
I would think about I9505G over I9505 only as device with bigger user storage running custom TW ROM, but it looks like not much success here.
From other side, you can buy 32GB version of I9505 and don't think about 16GB-only I9505G.
But hey, there are SHV-E330 and GT-I9506 already

You mean Holo I believe. That's why I use stock Android. TW with its different colors, big buttons that are not even separated from others and mixed styles in applications is really crazy and a pain to use. For people that like to use a phone without distractions it's a plain and simple fail.
Nice to have options as we're all not the same, you keep your TW phone, I will keep my stock Android one.

I was taking you seriously until I read this. You think that removing system applications is easier than going to Google Play and download one? Yeah, sure!

Yeah.. It looks like your are really serious talking about replace TW features by 3rd party apps
Which app can replace lockscreen? None. It's impossible by android design. Only can mask some app as lockscreen which is completely different.
Having quick settings panel in on-going notification area? Phh..
If you think, it's not serious, then hold on and think first. May be other person, who is talking about this, knows something you don't know.
I'm not even talking about how serious people who are buying non-Nexus device and then whining about CM/AOSP in half of topics.

You're considering rooting a device to freeze/remove system applications. I was talking about simply adding applications to a stock Android from Google Play. I fail to see the former being easier.
And here the "impossible":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=en
In any case what you might consider essential I might consider a waste of resources.
That was the point of my post. That's why Android is a success.
And if you don't like to read people talking about changing non-Google devices you might be better off XDA.
XDA Developers was founded for developers by developers. It is now a valuable resource for people who want to make the most of their mobile devices, from customizing the look and feel to adding new functionality.

If you are able to create custom ROM then removing unneeded apps (and even editing framework to cleanup from some useless features) is much easier than add absent functionality.
I suppose, we are on XDA, i.e. developer's forum right? If you are talking from regular user point of view who usually don't know what is "root", then it's out of scope of this board. Just buy Nexus device and then you are set.

I've told you already: there is no way to truly replace lockscreen by any other application. Lockscreen is a part of framework, not APK. I'm using android devices not the first year, and believe me, i've tried these apps long long time ago. These apps mimic lockscreen using some security holes in OS, but they are not replacing lockscreen. Actually, device remains unlocked all the time. Also there are many bugs and glitches because such apps trying to suppress original lockscreen with different kinds of success/fail.
As for modifying device: there are many ways to modify and it's not exactly by installing CM/AOSP. You can check my topics to see that i'm not just user.
XDA has been created long time before CM/AOSP and believe me there are many other good ways to modify the device. CM/AOSP have their own dedicated forums and repositories which should suit your needs better than XDA (if you want to compete in pointing directions to others).
P.S.: look into I9505G forum to see how users begging to add samsung's standard camera app which doesn't work on non-TW ROM.
Suggest them to install some app from Google play
The same can tell about video player and amount of video and audio codecs integrated into TW ROM. On TW ROM i can use nearly any music player and able to playback almost any audio and video. On GE ROM you have to find special audio player having support of some specific format, and then try to get used to its bugs without choice to switch to another player. With video player it's even worse...
Also, CM/AOSP usually don't have tight integration when it comes to Hardware 3D acceleration. Some selected devices (usually Nexus and GE devices) have good 3D support, but only some.
The truth is: Some people wanna to install CM/AOSP and then they realize they miss many useful (usually not noticeable when it presents) features. That's why custom TW ROMs are present and have a lot or users.

I never denied that TW based ROMs have value for some people, just that as well stock Android is much more attractive for others. If not we wouldn't be discussing this and you wouldn't see the kind of activity we see in this forum.
And I still disagree on the "easier" issue but I fail to see any benefit in continuing the discussion.
got a weird question... where's the am/pm display on the 12 hour clock for the i9505G rom that i installed? hmm...

Look at the window?
So this really isn't going anywhere?
HTC One has just been fully converted into the GPe.
I was really hoping there was some kind of solution for this conversion
Anyway, thanks for all the hard work guys!

Why would you need to ? You have CM/TW/GE to choose from when using the i9505 partition layout. Took us a couple of hours to get KitKat after the GE got it (broodplank delivered AOSP 4.4 even earlier).

Enjoy The Work
Needs work it dosent feel like a real ios. But if its getting updated and its gets fixed it will probably be a good project but sooon 8.0 will be relesed rendering 7.0 usless.
downloading..
This looks quite interesting @pajit31modees
First of all, thanks for the work. I was quite confused as this post was placed on Samsung Galaxy 8 themes, apps, and mods, I thought it was a theme, not a ROM. Could you please post a set of instructions for installation, as I'd really like to give it a try sometime. And perhaps you could be more specific, i.e. which security patch is this ROM based on, etc. Overall it looks interesting, I'll be checking on other users input and opinions on this.
Niedopracowane i to nieźle.
Screenshots please?
Have tested this Rom times short ..... This Rome I do not find anything to do with ios .. Samsung bootanimation, Samsung status bar not even the launcher reminiscent of ios. When is ios drawer an app? The installed camera has nothing to do with ios (quality, arrangement of the settings). Sorry but this Rome is nothing more than a Stock Rom with other launcher and bad camera.

I tested this rom again .... I take back my first impression ... this rome does NOT use at all. if I go to the settings then there are no possibilities to come back because there is no navbar and another button is not synonymous. You have to restart the phone again and again if you want to go back to the home screen. Settings to change the design so that it looks like iPhone in the status bar I did not find any. it is and remains a floor rom with a lot of ios launcher without buttons.
Please that somebosy close this....
