While in Google Search click settings and make sure hotword detection is enabled.
If it is and it's still not working... are you on the stock launcher or 3rd party (ie- nova launcher)?
The ok google function only works for the stock GEL.

My N5 does not show the "Say OK Google" text (it did the first few days), but If I actually say the words it does respond.
It looks like it was there just a few days so you knew... Have you just tried to speak to it?

I know this may sound dumb but you're connected to internet?

I am connected to the internet via WiFi. I am not using any earphones for now. Something is surely up. The feature works as when I say "Okay google" but it doesn't show the text anymore. I wonder why.

Oh! Now I get you. Well I never rly noticed about that. But yeah it's not showing for me either. I guess it was just a kind of Tutorial. After a couple of times it's gone.

The 'Say OK Google' text disappears after a few uses (they assume you know that you can do it now).
But if you have the service enabled and it isn't detecting the hotwords, then sounds like you have a defective phone.

If the microphone is not fully white, and it's hollow in the inside, then most likely you just opened an app that uses a fair amount of resources.
Weirdly enough for me, once I closed a game like Asphalt, it'll reenable Ok Google, not sure if this is the case for you, but I doubt it has anything to do with hardware, most likely software.

[Q] Voice search accuracy

Is anyone else having issues with the accuracy of spoken word in Voice Search? For example, I say "navigate to the nearest hospital" and it thinks I'm saying "kkkk new york" This feature worked perfectly on my EVO. Anyone else noticing this or am I missing something?
Thanks!

Bummer. I was hoping everyone would jump in and say something along the lines of "yeah it sucks BIG TIME" lol
K, I'll have to mess with it some more.
Try to adjust the voice search settings. Take off all the restrictions and it should work better.

Aaah! That's a good idea! Will give it a shot. Why didn't I think of that? Probably cause I was overthinking it. You get a Thanks button press
I'm having the same exact problem with all of the k's! Updating hasn't fixed it, clearing the data hasn't fixed it... I've tried using voice on multiple applications and I keep getting that same problem. It'll do a bunch of k's and then just part of what I actually said. I don't know if it's a microphone problem?

Chrome to Phone not working?

Is Google Chrome to Phone working for anyone else? It stopped working for me a day or two after I got my Charge, which was a couple of weeks ago. I figured there would be an update to fix it, but there isn't yet. I'm wondering if it works for everybody else or if it's just me?
Edit: Let me clarify: I download the app, open it, click Allow, and it tries to connect but always ends with "Unable to Connect" error.
Everytime I try to link my gmail account to Chrome to Phone, it says Unable to Connect. This started happening since I got my Charge.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Not sure why it isn't working for you guys. It works fine for me, and has worked on every Rom I have tried. Currently running GummyGBE 1.8
Once a month chrome to phone logs you out and makes you log back in on you browser. What they don't tell you is that you have to do the same in the app. Give that a try.

This is what is happening to me. It's really annoying that it just won't connect at all no matter if I switch roms or stay on stock. It just doesn't work anymore.

Which app?
Open the app then hit menu, settings and disconnect the phone. Reattach it to the google account and it should work again. That makes it work for me again when I have problems with it.

Widget Apps for 4.2 Lockscreen

So now that 4.2 has rolled out I decided to make a thread about good widget apps that work on the new Android 4.2 Lock screen. Feel free to contribute to it.
My share
*DashClock
-This is what the 4.2 lock screen should be. Shows you're unread messages, phone calls, email, and even weather. And more to come. Also...it's OPEN SOURCE. So a lot of extensions are being added.
*Beautiful Widgets/HD Widgets
-Good weather widgets, look very clean and highly customizable.
Sent from my Skyrocket using XDA Premium
Are you looking for widgets that will work or just ones that people like? Because I do believe, any widget can be added to the lockscreen.
Edit: Thanks for the DashClock suggestion. Looks good. :good:

Is anyone else not able to install dashclock? I'm running the 2/13 CM 10.1 nightly, but it doesn't show up in my store searches and the play store website show my device as incompatible. Works great on my Nexus 10.
Just recently, Falcon Pro for twitter has just been added as an extension into DashClock.

That usually happens when you change the DPI or due to market region settings.

I haven't knowingly modified either, but will go through the settings to double check. I went from stock -> CM10 -> CM10.1. I'm in the US, and haven't connected with the phone from overseas, so the store should be set to US. Thanks for the suggestion.

That helped a bit. I cleared the data and cache & rebooted the phone. Now it shows up in my search results, which it did not before, but says "Your device isn't compatible with this version."
I checked and my DPI is still set to the default of 240. I never attempted to change the store region or used the phone outside of the US. That combined with the resetting of the market data I assumes means it's set correctly. I didn't see a quick way to determine what region it thinks it is, other than it's showing prices in US dollars.

You could try flashing the ROM & gapps again. You shouldn't need to wipe if it's the same ROM and shouldn't lose any data. That should reset everything. PM me if you have any further questions.
I updated to the 2/16 nightly and cleared the market cache and data, lo' and behold it installed.
However, as luck would have it, the Exchange profile my company requires prevents lock screen widgets. I hadn't tried one till I saw Dash Clock.
Ah well. I'll continue using it on my tablet. Thanks for the suggestions.

to the best of my knowledge, the active listening component of the "Google Experience Launcher" is not available on any custom third party launchers as of yet. google has not open-sourced their launcher and, for the time being, are keeping it an n5 exclusive.

I personally just set the double tap gesture to voice search. Just as good maybe better.
Thanks, guys. But I found an app that so far does toggle active listening. It's called Open Mic+. It's in the Play Store and it comes in a free and paid version. The paid version honestly doesn't add much more than the free one does. Anyway, the app isn't 100% perfect, but it's good so far.

The problem I found with open mic+ is on my stock nexus 5 it was not starting on boot and at random times disappears from the navbar or just stops responding to the keyword even though it is running and shows it's listening. The concept is nice but will have to wait on a more stable implementation. Props to the dev though as he's just in high school and it's well on the way to being a must have app.

Really? This isn't the Moto X. There is no point at which you have to do nothing. You still have to unlock the phone and be at the home screen. Having already unlocked the phone what is a double tap? Besides, I don't particularly like saying okay Google.
Op should add a question mark in the topic.
Done.

This is what I want. We have the extra core, LET IT LISTEN TO US!
Running CM11 beta 7. 4.4 on S3. Tmo.
Google Experience Launcher
Nova Launcher Beta 3
On the S3 the left capacitve "menu" button offers a long press option into Google Now.
Then Google Now is Active: Say "Ok Google"
Or use the standard GEL, and "Ok Google" is active in any home screen.
Try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luck.okaygooglenow I'm in the same boat on my AT&T S3. I'll give it a shot and report back.

It's double tap instead of saying ok google. Since you have to have it opened to the homescreen anyway a double tap would be faster. It would be different of course if we had always listening when the screen is off.
