if yes can anyone please post the procedure?

yes can be backed up from recovery... the procedure depends on the recovery you are using.... eg:for twrp just hit backup from the main page and swipe to backup...

I think you cant backup your current stock rom without rooting... Because to take system backup you need to root...
Just remove your battery... Put it back... And press power+volume button...
You will now go to bootloader menu... Select recovery(select using volume down and press power for slection)
Now you will go to recovery mode... Its factory mode...
After rooting you need to flash RUU rom to go back to unroot stock rom...

after unlocking the boot loader try to backup bro... I am not sure... sorry...

no stock recovery will be there in the stock rom before rooting , using stock recovery you cant install any custom rom or backup your stock rom , so you have to unlock the bootloader first , then you have to root your device , then you have to flash custom recovery like cwm , twrp , younnu's or philz recovery

nandroid backup of htc explorer a310e

Actually I have a rooted HCL ME Y3 tablet.....and also have the stock rom for this tablet (the rom is in zip format ...not in tar.md5 format) there is no pc based software(such as odin for samsung) for this Tab to flash the firmware.. the only way to flash that firmware with the stock recovery......i want to do some experiments with my tab(i.e installing custom recovery, custom rom etc.)......so before installing cwm i wanna backup/restore the stock recovery..(as it is under warranty period)....(the stock recovery works only with stock firmware..it doesn't work with any signed .zip file except the stock one ).....now what should i do????????

No bro.
We can save Recovery.
Even with Titanium Backup Pro, doesn't gives this Option to backup Recovery. ..
We just need to flash the recovery. .
To change it.

you have to options
1) either reflash the custom rom that u have installed , this may solve the problem .
2)flash a different custom rom of your choice.
if u dont want that then just flash stock rom
did u take bakup of ur stock rom ?
if yes then charge your phone above 80% and the go to recoverymode (power button + volume up + volume down) ,
now in CWM you will see restore / backup and then go to backup and install the stock rom
if u dnt have stock rom then tell me i will provide u a back up link of stock rom
hit thanks if i helped

Can't be done. Backing up system requires root.

You can't backup without root. You must be rooted. Once you got root. You need to flash custom recovery like (CWM, TWRP or Philz) supported to your model. Then you can go to recovery and get full backup of your Android.

You can also use adb to backup once you have root.
