There are several ways..
1. A complete data wipe.(U'll loose all the data)
To do so u need to go to recovery mode by pressing a set of button combinations, it devents on the device model.
2. If u had enabled USB debugging already in the phone settings, u can use adb commands to remove the file named gesture.key inside the path /data/system/
3. If u have cwm and had rooted the phone, u can use aroma file manager and flash it through cwm to find and remove the above said file.
4. If u have cwm only, u can flash a zip file which has a edify-script to remove the gesture.key file.
P.S- 1st method is a globally used one, try that itself if u don't worry about loss of data.
Hit thanks rather than typing it now Free

what if USB debugging is not enabled and you ar locked out what do u do

Go in recovery and do a factory reset

Someday ago, my uncle give his phone to me, and said that he forgot his lockscreen pattern. I guess it is easy for me to recover the lockscreen pattern by clicking on the "Forgot Pattern" button. But the hardest thing is that my uncle forgot his email account and his password, and he forget the answer of his secret question
But one thing i remember is that ive been using my uncle phone before, and ive checked the Debugging option on
So, i used my computer, and use the adb to recover my uncle's phone lockscreen. Its easy, because my uncle's phone is rooted, and thats why i defined [ROOT] in the title
I'm not taking any risks for what you will done with your phone. You should use this trick with your own risk, and dont blame me if its not worked. This is for educational purpose only, don't do this trick for opening your friend's phone.

You need to grant ADB Shell in superuser before you can use these trick

How to :
1. First, connect your phone to your computer
2. Open up the terminal or Command Prompt
3. Use these command :
For Pattern lock :
adb shell
su
rm /data/system/gesture.key
Click to collapse
Or Password lock :
adb shell
su
rm /data/system/password.key
Click to collapse
4. Disconnect your phone. Suddenly the lockscreen will come up. Dont worry, you just need to enter any pattern to go on, then you can remove the pattern lock in setting
If you didn't have the adb installed on your computer, just download these attachment. Extract it, then just open the Command Prompt.bat / Command.shell, then enter those command
Another trick is by using AROMA File Manager. You should have recovery installed on your phone
It's same with installing Custom Rom, you just place the AROMA File Manager on your SDCard, then install it. The AROMA File Manager will come up, then you can delete the gesture.key/password.key file in the /data/system/ directory

I think you don't understand what i am trying to say, I meant i can't access my Galaxy Tab now since it's all blank and it is not displaying anything. the reason why it's not displaying anything is because i wanted to remove those on screens buttons and i found out that people said here by adding this script at build.prop qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 and reboot it will remove them. But instead all i get is a blank screen
I wonder if there's a way to access Android root system dir on Windows PC you know the place where you can find the build.prop file.
Can someone help me with this?
Is it rooted??
If it is you could reflash ur Rom without wiping anything. Just flash the same Rom u are currently using and don't wipe anything. When done dix permissions and reboot.

Yes my Galaxy Tab is rooted with a custom rom installed. i can still access my CWM. Ugh.. i really wonder if it's possible to access the android root system on a PC or not.
I'm not going to reflash it if i could just remove that line i added earlier at build.prop. which is qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 i am hoping that after removing that line might return everything to normal

Hello bro ... you can access the android root files ( but not view directly as a file manager) and edit the build prop ..... but for this you need android sdk ( android development kit ) on pc through which you can type the adb shell commands for the build prop changes you made... but it still needs usb debugging to be activated...... If you can flash stock rom it is better ...

Hello
I can still access my Tablet through USB mode using CWM to set it on. I wonder if i can see the android root system dir when using android SDK? or i am screwed ? Does the Android SDK really need USB Debug Mode turn on to make changes to the build.prop file? If yes, i wonder is there a way to turn USB Debug mode on at SDK?
Since my tablet is not displaying anything so i can't manually turn it on there.

Wrong. You don't lose anything rooting unless you use some nonsense.
It's unlocking the bootloader that wipes the phone.

[Q] Unlock problem

earlier today I found out my little sister knew my pattern so I changed it. But when I changing the pattern I didn't pay attention a lot and know I forgot the pattern. My data and WiFi are disabled.I can't sign in to my google account with the phone now.
My question: I can't sign in because data/wifi is off? If yes is there a way to turn on wifi or data without unlocking phone?
I'll be thankful if someone help me because I can't loose my apps and setting
I'm using Galaxy mini CM 7.2 official
Hi, you can go into recovery mode and make a data wipe, but you will loose all apps and configurations.

if you have usb debugging enabled you can break it with adb by using adb shell commands
follow this guide in my blog http://www.blog-android.com/general/break-pattern-lock/ for more details and dont use that aroma method it is only for mediatek devices
you can try the other methods given there

I don't know why you facing this! if I forget my password/pin my phone gives me a option to enter my gmail id and password and then directs me to change the password/pin! this occurs even If I remove my SIM card also!
anyway a probable solution for you - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225695
I am just sharing my experience
I had locked gionee m2 without root and without debugging enabled I was able to disable lock with out wiping data
What I did was
1)flashed carliv touch recovery using special flash tool
Use PC to Flash*recovery.img*using sp-flash tools. (Please be aware of how to install required drivers etc..)
Select original scatter file of your version of ROM. If You are using stock ROM, Make sure that you have not altered the phone partitioning earlier.*
Be careful and Remember to select/tick only 'recovery' in the list. You can also check preloader if you like. and select ONly 'download' button. (NOT firmware upgrade!). Connect your switched off phone to your PC. Wait till your task is complete. Shows you a green circle.
2)backup of data was made using carliv touch recovery (ofcourse with locked phone data)just in case anything goes wrong.
At this moment carliv touch recovery was working but boot and power options were not functioning
3)now flashed rooting file this time by carliv touch recovery
4)carliv touch recovery has aroma file manager too. But I was not able to open lock by this method as
Aroma File Manager, Click on menu option and go to settings*
Select Mount All Partitions*
Now, exit from Aroma File Manager and reflash it.*
Now, you will see each partition is mounted
5. Now, go to /data/system
Note : If you have sd-ext mod to increase internal storage, go to /sd-ext/system/
6. Now, If you have to remove pattern lock, long press and delete gesture.key
If you want to remove password, delete password.key
7. Exit the Aroma File Manager
8. Reboot*
9. Enjoy*
Didn't enjoyed this method somehow I don't know but it didn't worked for me as this folders didn't showed above said files.
5)now I flashed pattern password disable. Zip file using carliv recovery
And on booting phone screen asking for google id and password was gone link http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1900741&d=1366570627
This was my method to unlock pattern locked gionee m2 phone but this can help you out too

[SCRIPT] Remove Screen Lock

Hey Guys
I just made this script to remove Pattern/Gesture Locks without reseting phone or going through adb commands
simply flash this zip to remove pattern, pin, password locks.
Will work with all GB phones
EDIT: Use cwm, won't work with stock recovery as zip isn't signed
should work
an alternative to using aroma file manager to delete the gesture and password keys
Good job :thumbup::thumbup:

Wipe data if you didn't find any other way to reset your lock.
After you have solved your problem, keep Gmail app installed and sync the email atleast once for making the resetting with Google account working.

In regards to your post
1 - this isnt realy development
2 - its a basic script which just says to delete two files
3 - anyone could type script in 2 mins
4 - as regards to copying - well every script that wants to acheive this has to have the same commands to delete the two files
5 - did the op write this? who knows but themself but its so basic anyone could write that with a little knowledge of what they want to do
6- you have broken xda rules by posting to another forum that requires registration and could be for commercial gain
7- there are lots of this type of script on xda with dates before that posting -including this one!

This script does nothing but deleting two ".key" files located in system/data, anyone can write it,
I don't know about that guy on the other forum but I did a lot of research on removing screen lock as I had this problem,
since my phone wasn't hard rooted (can't delete files via adb commands), I had to make a script to remove lock on my phone,
So I just felt like sharing this script here with everyone.
PS: i used this tutorial, if you want you can also give it a try

HELP Forgot Pattern in Android 6.0

Thats the problem...Android Device Manager is useless cuz there is already a pattern...I tried almost 100 times and there is no "forgot your password?" option...I need at least do a copy of my pictures.
Is there any solution to this? I feel like a real idiot...I was trying a different pattern and I forgot It...I cant believe it...
I think there's a file not sure if it is directly under /data/system or one of it's sub directories, but basically what I did was to boot to TWRP , use the built it file manager and delete that file. I could then access my phone. I will search maybe I kept the file name somewhere.
EDIT:
Just remove this file /data/system/gesture.key
and reboot.

That could be a problem. I think that it might be done using adb but not sure if it can be done without root/bootloader secured
If cracking an Android device were as easy as deleting a file then I doubt that there's much value in any security on a device at all, no?
Surely this has to be a reinstall of the ROM...? Maybe with no-wipe to preserve the data?
Genuine question - I don't know for sure.

Testing it would be really easy. just set a pattern and then delete that file.
Lets us know is it is that easy to hack it or not.
Since obviously you know better, share your findings with us.

The phone has to have an unlocked bootloader and twrp installed, so you already compromised its security yourself. You could relock the bootloader, flash a stock recovery and encrypt the phone, that would solve the issue.
"Since obviously you know better, share your findings with us."
Look, guy, just because you're a senior member there's no need to be offensively sarcastic.
Maybe you didn't get as far as my last comment: "Genuine question - I don't know for sure."

Not being Sarcastic at all. Making a point. If you got offended, sorry about that.
I posted what I have , after testing it myself. Had the same issue on Lollipop.
Further more, I will share another piece of Info in here.
When You are able to access any Solaris/Linux server using a console , and boot it from DVD, you can simply edit the /etc/shadow file and reset even the root password. Does that mean Unix/Linux aren't secure OS's ?
When you have access to OS level files you can practically hack every OS.
Same goes here. When you have unlock bootloader and modified recovery you can access system files that otherwise would be inaccessible. if he can have access to that file and remove it, he will gain access to his system.
Well, I tried everything that I could because my phone is no rooted, and the bootloader is locked, plus, the debugging mode is off too... so I was close to give up, BUT finally I remembered that my phone was connected to Airdroid!; if Airdroid is connected to the phone It can bypass the lockscreen and you can access to the internal memory anyways with the Airdroid website!, so I did a full backup of all my pictures and then I did a factory reset!, the copy was a kinda slow but I didn't care of course!. What a relief!!!
So, I really recommend use Airdroid (and have the app connected of course), it saved my life!, I was really frustrated about this, I cant believe Google doesnt provide the old way the restore the pattern like in Kitkat and Jelly Bean.

It worked like a charm!
I have a fingerprint enabled phone. forgot my pattern, followed your suggestion and presented in my phone are data/system/gesture.password.key and gesture.pattern.key so I deleted the pattern.key (guided by forgotten pattern) I rebooted and my apps were optimized and voila the phone is unlocked.
However, I tried accessing the fingerprint menu on my phone but refused access. I then used root explorer, browse to aforementioned location, copied and renamed gesture.password.key to gesture.pattern.key as it was before deletion.
went back to the security setting of my phone, setup pin option (scared of forgetting the pattern again) and phone screen locked. I try using my fingerprint to unlock (which I am accustomed to) and voila! it says pin required for additional security. entered Pin and the fingerprint menu became functional again and all previously stored fingerprints remained unaltered....QED
