Join a ROM/theme team - General Topics

Hey everyone, I would love to improve my knowledge into android but I don't want to be alone I want to be with others and have fun with others. I know some of the basics which I'm sure gets me nowhere but I think I would only do editing .pngs like for the status bar or settings I would love to help out on a ROM or a theme, as you can see from my signature I have a wide range of devices.

It would be better if you ask Developer in PM.
With your specific device.
So that even you can check/test on your device.

[I9003][Guide(s)]Porting to our device

Hey everyone!!! There are many newbies like me out there who want to learn how to port/develop themes/apps/roms etc to our device . So i was wondering if any of you experienced guys could take out your precious time and give a short tutorial(or at least provide a link).A google search doesn't help much!! I'm tired of just using stuff and watching other people develop it!!!
here are some links
Porting roms- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153500
how to deodex - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113937
Creating an update.zip-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14657068&postcount=13
You have to be more specific on what you want to do. For rom porting, you will need to have coding skills. For everytjing else, the search box here in xda would suffice.

Lets start with themes!!!
Like said before, searching is one of the best way to learn
You could found threads like this one for themes, [GUIDE] Want to learn how to theme?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx_lkUCu7X0
see this video. Its an app for iphone. But I think by doing changes in framework file we can achieve such animation in menu (just guessing). If apple os is capable of this then definitely our android must have more capabilities...!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 5/23:
Hey thanks to all who have downloaded and checked this out. I guess there must be minimal issues since I've yet to hear of any since posting. This should be good for at least next few FXP updates since most of 7.2 is already in-place. Although I do plan an upgrade to a final status with this I may try and wait for the Official release which I suspect is right around the corner. Awesome work by the way and many Thanks to the FXP team for an already KILLER rom. I'm now turning attention to CM9 however in the interim if there are any issues or questions regarding this package don't hesitate to hit me up. Thanks Everyone, eb
Fellow X10-FXP-S Enthusiasts
I've been working on various theme mods in effort to achieve Xperia-S look and feel on latest FXP releases. I really had only planned to use it personaly but have since decided to share what I have so far and see if it helps anyone.
It still needs plenty of tweaks so if there's enough interest Ill be happy to continue working towards finished versions.
Thank me if you dig it and let me know if you have any positive feedback or require additional instruction, etc. Enjoy

Listen-Anybody wiling to contribute to this effort is most certainly welcome to have at it. There are many things that I've encountered(primarily cosmetic, rom is very stable) that are quite simply beyond my current capability.
BOTTOM LINE:
I love the new Sony themes, apps,etc-I love what FXP stands for and is all about-I love the performance and flexibility of Cyanogen, enough said.
Simply put this is merely my feeble attempt to 'have my cake and eat it too".

ps: I want to reiderate that there are still plenty of credits yet to be acknowledged and if I've scavenged without merrit in any instance I sware my intentions are only to help and not to steal and lay claim. Some of this is actually just cosolidated from other works and as soon as I can sort through my crude organizational methods I'm dedicated to provided credit where credit is due.

Yes my man, I do know very well of you're work but you are right in the later. This is not a ROM, just an extended theme if you will for cm7.
I do keep up with this forum and firmly believe it is populated by some of the coolest and genius minds in the Android community. Although I'm about to upgrade to an ION I will be keeping my X10 on full blast for that very purpose.
As mentioned in my initial post this was aimed to fill a personal need to bring "S" type look and feel to a Cyanogen base which is very similar to what you've been doing. I guess you could say maybe this could be concidered the "Theme" equivalent to your efforts. I could be wrong but through my search I have yet to find the "S" equivelant of such or I simply would've used it. That's not to say someone isn't working on the same damn thing at this very moment. But hey, from what I've seen in other forums & devices I say the more the marrier. After all that's kinda what AOSP's all about right?
Lets just hope & pray it stays that way.

you got me wrong reread what i wrote , i just thinked that you dont know about my rom , and also say that its good for peapole who want to stay on CM7 and have only the theme without the app , i not blame you and since i am on xda i nevr do that and even peapoles who taking my rom to mod and release i give my permissions so you just get me wrong , also one think can u upload it to mediafire ? i loved the clock font and if you agree will use on my next release
cheers
Achotjan
Much Love, much Love.
Offcoarse and absolutely.
I'll look into mediafire, long as they don't want my blood type and first born cause I'm not down w that.
In the meantime if u can manage to get the "MAIN THEME" zip it contains everything already formatted. I think the digitalclock widget is what you want. As I'm sure you well know it took me forever to get the right elements together to get even close to that.
If I'm not mistaken its the SomaThin from Champ's port but not completely sure since its now Clocktopia.
If you mean the lockscreen clock I believe that's an ICS hybrid from ThJap's ROM...maybe.
See what I mean about the list of credits.LOL

If there's ANYTHING else don't hesitate to hit me up and also any help you could provide in dialing this thing in would be greatly appreciated. The sonyhome app is fully functional and free of any additional frameworks or libs however I don't have the tools to modify the pagnation resources. ANYONE? ANYBODY??? Thanx Man, earbrain

Android Ideas - Bringing Your Ideas To Android

Hi everyone,
I'm here to introduce a new site that will hopefully help Android grow.
I have created Android Ideas (android-ideas.com) as a place where users can post their ideas, and developers can make them come true!
I have had some ideas in the past, but have not been able to bring them to Android, as I'm not a developer (like most people). The site is here so developers can come and read other users ideas and build the app/theme/mod into android.
All the user has to do is sign up and post the idea, I will then do the rest. The developer can come a long and look through the ideas without signing up. Developers can also follow @Android_Ideas on twitter for the latest idea posts!
I have started the ball rolling by posting a couple of ideas myself! Please post yours to help the site grow!!
If you would like to use the above banner in a signiture (but smaller), please copy this;
HTML:

You're welcome to put "user of" or something like that!
Any questions, please ask...
Thanks, Matt

Hey guys I've been around here for a while, but I have not really contributed much to the community, so without further ado, here is my first app... TIPPY!!! the concept is pretty simple, visit my link to check it out. I don't want to repost everything, plus I'm on my phone.
This is my entry point to development eventually I will move to ROMS, kernels, and more, so please support my endeavors and give me feedback on my app please and thanks.

If it wasnt for XDA, I would have several bricked phones, and no knowledge at all.. xD
I like the opportunity that XDA creates. It creates an environment where people can not only display and share their work but also where people can come learn and become developers. If not for XDA most of our eyes would still be closed. Huge Thank you to the staff and many devs on XDA!
