Hello everyone,
just a few minutes ago the colors of my asus tablet changed to totaly distortet colors. There is also some flickering. Pictures:

(Links sliced because of board rule..)
What went wrong? Display broken? Incorrect display connection to board? Virus?
I'm looking forward to any suggestion.
Regards,
Sel

Try factory resetting your tab incase that doesn't work bring it to service center because that looks pretty bad!

Factory reset didn't changed anything. Colors are still distortet.
Thank you for your prompt reply anyways.

Only thing like that is the update display in dev settings but since factory reset didnt work its probably a broken display.

I can't tell 'cause I couldn't get to the pictures. But it happened to me once. First, the cable connector at the LCD end came loose; closer inspection, the connector end was damaged. Don't panic.

I just left the tablet as is, after factory reset. Everything ist working with correct colors again.
Unfortunately I still cannot say what causes this issues.

Thanks for the pics. Mine had the Asus logo at the initial screen turn blue, then everything else with distorted and smeared colors at the edge of all icons.

As said above:
1. Cable connector damaged;
2. Improperly seated connector.

Defect screen? + pictures

Hello,
I have a problem with my screen. It is there since I can remember, but with the grayish interface it is really starting to get annoying. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same. It is just a white "dot" with a longer, lighter stripe. Mostly visible on gray backgrounds, but also on black/other dark colors.

You might want to show it to the service center, they might get your screen replaced.

That is the problem. In Holland we do not have service centers. If I want to have it fixed I will have to send it to HTC.
Someone has at least an idea what it is or how to describe it to HTC?
Thanks.

hi, i think if u write them a mail and attach those pics there will be no need for in-depth description. just tell them since when u have that and how it started to appear.

I sure that that isn't a defect screen, if it was then it should be all black, and not have the statusbar shown. I was thinking, maybe if you got try to hook it up to your TV, with an HDMI, and see if it works that way.
But it could be the a bad download of the rom.

Thanks but your missing the point slightly. The screen works fine, but on darker backgrounds there is a white spot with a stripe in the middle as can be seen clearly I think.

Oh, my bad Then yeah it looks like a defect to me. You should send it back
Good luck.
Did you find out what was the problem with your screen? My Sensation has developed the exact same thing, right there in the middle of the screen.
I am deciding wether I can live with it or if I should try my luck with a replacement from T-Mobile (a refurb). If it's something that could get worse (my guess is yes) then it's going back for sure.

[Q] Snowy screen

A few weeks ago my Sensation screen turned to colorful pixel snow. After opening the sense lock ring and flipping the main screen for a few times it became ok. A week later it went back to the snowy screen permanently.
I went to recovery and re installed the Rom (revolution 6.80) and the problem was solved. A week later I got the snowy screen back, but now the snow appears the very first moment the device is powered on.
Due to the face I had airdroid on the device I managed to connect it to the computer and see the mobile screen on the computer and it looked as if everything is ok, I could see the sense and all the screens and operate all the applications by looking at the computer and touching the snowy screen.
I bought a new screen and connected it instead the original and I still got snow....so I know it's not a screen problem.
I do not have warranty on the device and local labs will charge half the price of the device for fixing it, so I prefer to find out what's the problem and but the parts myself and replace them.
Anyone has any experience with such a problem and fixing it?
Thanks a lot
Try using a blower, those that people use to blow off dust, blow off every spec of dust you can see on your device, clean the connectors of the screen too.
Then, try installing a rom which is not ARHD, and test it out. If all these doesnt work, it might be your GPU hardware is faulty.
I already cleaned all the connection and checked that everything is connected correctly but it didn't help.
Do you know where the gpu seats? maybe if I knew what it looks like i could check problems around it or replace it.
No one knows how to solve the snow problem? :crying:
That's it? the device is dead? I used it only for one year...
Can you take a photo of it and post it?
Then we know exactly what you're talking about

maybe the connector of the lcd panel is disconnected a little bit.
I bought from Ebay defective Sensation, it has exactly the same problem.

I'm also having the same snow problem on my HTC Amaze, for the above i assume there's no fix to this as i was about to purchase a new screen.
This phone is a complete lemon so perhaps it's a blessing

Screen Broken or Loose Cable?

Screen Broken or Loose Cable?
What do ya think?
The first image is how it boots up. Note the solid BAR down the screen and the AWESOME color display to the right. :silly:

If I put a little pressure on the device as if I am twisting it, the colored lines go away and I just have the solid bar running down the screen.
Its still fully functional.. other than that anyway...:silly:
Anyone ever see that before???
So, screen or cable?
I think your display cable is not fly seated.
Cable
Yup it's the cable. Sorry bro

Should be. Remove the bezel (carefully) and then the back.
I made a guide on how to safely remove the bezel here: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo.../10501-rs-guide-power-lock-button-issues.html
Back has 10 screws, one at each corner and then three between the back and the glass on the two long edges.
Video cable and backlight cable are near the power port. Check that they are seated.
Thanks

Thanks, that was exactly what I needed to fix my TF101. The screen was flickering in all sorts of colors, but it went back to normal when tapping it slightly onto the table, so it was clear it must have been some loose cable or the like. The connector was physically out of its socket, just sitting in front of it, looks like a miracle it still had enough connection to transmit any display image at all. The tablet had been with ASUS repair about a year ago for a touchscreen issue, so apparently some technican there failed to reconnect the cable properly.

[Q] Graphic problems with p5100 10.1"

Hi,
I got this weird problem and im not sure is this a hardware problem or not. For example. when using menus with white background, the background goes partly blue. Sometimes the graphic error is only blue lines in some part of the white background.
but when checking one option in same menu the background turns normal or atleast there is some change in the background. So these errors reacts only when changing options. And theyre always in the same position when going the same menu.
Also when using camera. the view is messed up a bit. there is a clear line somewhere in the picture when going dark to bright. With my english its hard to explain especially when i dont have any idea what is causing this problem.
Below are two attachments that explains the problem much clearer than i can write:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And before you ask. Yes, it has dropped and i have replaced the glass. But i got it with broken glass so i dont know was it like this before it dropped and the previus owner couldnt tell either.
Any possible solutions?
Thank you in advance!
Sounds like a hardware issue, just for the heck of it I would open it up and check the ribbon cable to the digitizer/screen, it could be loose.
Pp.
Checked it. Same problem. Tried to change brightness level, hard reset, rooting etc with no luck.
Its just so weird that in some situations the screen looks totally normal. only these few situations cause errors in the screen.
Hmmm, there are dialer codes that are used on phones that run a series of tests to check screen performance and output, don't know if this can be done on a tablet, but I would research it.
The only other time I heard of this was on a phone that recovered from falling in a toilet, the phone was dismantled and cleaned and assembled and it worked fine for over a year, the only glitch was an occasional color spasm on the screen similar to what you discribe.
Pp.
Thanks for the tip! Need to look for those codes when i get back home. I removed the logic board and cleaned it with denat. alcohol. No visible damage at least! trying to assembly it back later today. I decided to order a new LCD flex cable. Its the cheapest part to change.
No luck with the codes i found. after cleaning still same graphical problems. Now i can only wait the new flex cable and hope it will fix those errors.
Anyways thanks for replys and suggestions. :good:

S8+ Screen worries

Hey guys
Any of you with the s8 or s8+ can you help
Type into Google the word red or purple, click on images and tell me if anything happens
When I do this, half my screen turns purple or for red I just get tons of weird lines, the same when reading black text on white background
The issue disappears once I get past half brightness
Do I have a faulty LCD??

Here you can see the black lines under the text
http://oi66.tinypic.com/2lu3mlw.jpg
This one you can see there are 3 black lines that go down the screen. But the camera picks it up best on the green nav bar
That seems like a bad screen. Try a factory reset and see if it goes away. If it does then it's somethiing you have installed causing the problem. If it is still there then it is a faulty screen.

Mine does NOT do that. I am using auto brightness. Sounds like something messed up with the display. Sry
Mine is on auto brightness as well and it DOES NOT do that. Sorry, but that shouldn't be normal.
My phone doesn't do this. Looks like a bad screen to me.
no nothing at all
Cannot replicate, faulty display. Get a replacement.
Mine doesn't do that either it's deffienetly a faulty screen you have but I would do a factory reset first.
Absolutely faulty display, advise change it as soon as possible.
Mine does NOT do this either. Swap it out.
