Screen Broken or Loose Cable? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Screen Broken or Loose Cable?
What do ya think?
The first image is how it boots up. Note the solid BAR down the screen and the AWESOME color display to the right. :silly:

If I put a little pressure on the device as if I am twisting it, the colored lines go away and I just have the solid bar running down the screen.
Its still fully functional.. other than that anyway...:silly:
Anyone ever see that before???
So, screen or cable?

I think your display cable is not fly seated.

Cable
Yup it's the cable. Sorry bro

Is that a bad thing? Thats easier to fix than the screen though (I hope), right?

Should be. Remove the bezel (carefully) and then the back.
I made a guide on how to safely remove the bezel here: http://www.transformerforums.com/fo.../10501-rs-guide-power-lock-button-issues.html
Back has 10 screws, one at each corner and then three between the back and the glass on the two long edges.
Video cable and backlight cable are near the power port. Check that they are seated.

Thanks

Thanks, that was exactly what I needed to fix my TF101. The screen was flickering in all sorts of colors, but it went back to normal when tapping it slightly onto the table, so it was clear it must have been some loose cable or the like. The connector was physically out of its socket, just sitting in front of it, looks like a miracle it still had enough connection to transmit any display image at all. The tablet had been with ASUS repair about a year ago for a touchscreen issue, so apparently some technican there failed to reconnect the cable properly.

[Found] Images of HTC Huashan!!!

heh I found this lying around in Huashan's ROM. It'll be dopod's T9188.
Didn't see it online anywhere else, so decided to share them (just thought that you guys may be interested)
I spot a memory card slot, and is that a stylus that I see?
And that (lower) hole in the backplate, is that a kickstand? a large device where a kickstand is required?

Nice find!
Random Observation, though: Is the device...upside-down? The speaker grill (similar to HD2) is on the top, but so is the stylis, a charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Thought I'd point that out.
Looks like im the first one to say that obviously its a GSM version of the EVO
with a stylus ?????

Possible windows mobile.
Neither WP7 needs stylus nor android so it must be Windows Mobile or anything new?
Thanks for sharing!
Best Regards
Regardless of which device this is, these photos are really cool. It's like those books I used to read where they would show the insides of planes, boats, etc.

[Q] LCD Glass unsticking

I have had the nexus 5 for about 6 months now, and i'm starting to notice a part of the glass coming off. The area around the volume buttons to the center of the screen makes a sticking sound when pushed down on, and i can feel it pushing in a little bit. It's most noticeable on the edge directly next to the volume buttons. There are no visible cracks as far as i can tell. Phone works fine besides this. Should I be worried and replace the screen or just let it be? I don't notice it if i don't push down too hard.
Never had this happen to me on a phone before. Thanks!
That definitely shouldn't be happening.

It's not very visible and pictures don't show the problem.
It feels like the glue in that area is just dried up in that area and isn't holding down the screen correctly. but its only a small area so right now its not too big of a deal.

Ask for google support, they will replace it. Mine was losing the back cover letters and google replaced it
Hi all. Wasn't sure if I should reply to this old thread or start my own...
I have a Nexus 5 that's over 2 years old. So no warranty. It looks like my screen is starting to come off in the bottom right corner. I think it's just the glass. Take a look at the attached pic/video and let me know what you think I could/should do. You can see I can move it by pressing on it.

It works fine otherwise. Touch/display etc seems all fine. I don't care about this problem if it stays as-is, but I'm worried it will get worse and come off further.
I'm thinking a bit of super glue would do? .
Thinking the sameā€¦

[Q] No signal after screen replacement: Damaged motherboard?

I was doing a screen replacement on a Nexus 5 and a small part from the motherboard fell off.
3 pictures to illustrate the problem here:
http://min.us/mKOC4FQe6F0HI
Afterwards, the mobile connection was a lot worse than before. Now, 2 weeks later, the phone's connection has become unusable and it constantly shows no service. Only very rarely does it have any sort of connection (Edge/3G/H/4G).
Questions:
1)What is the part that came off? (see album above) My knowledge is a bit limited but I'm quite sure it has to do with the connection? I notice there are 3 other parts exactly like this spread over the motherboard.
2)Can I repair it? Do I glue it back on? Do I solder it on? Does it somehow click on? (I have tried if it clicks but this part is so tiny it's almost impossible to really handle
3)Based on my explanation, do you think this tiny part is the only cause? The phone still had some connection at first but it got worse. I'm also planning to order replacement antenna cables to see if that helps.
Thanks in advance!

In my case.. I had to replace the charging circuit Cuz it was 'broken' as described by the cellphone shop.. It has connections to the antenna.. Now phone is fully working.. Before that though, I tried different sim cards with different companies (bell Rogers and fido) all worked on my phone except my carrier sim card (mobilicity). After replacing the circuit I just mentioned everything works fine. Cost is 25$
Needs solder it's an rf trimmer /radio frequency. It's vital to an ariel of one type or other. If you want to risk a bodge assemble everything except the back and hold it in place with bluetack. If it works I was going to say epoxy it but don't. Get someone to solder it. It's easy to do if you have the skills.
Oh vital it's right way round and has now been turned. There should be a slot for tuning it.

[Q] Graphic problems with p5100 10.1"

Hi,
I got this weird problem and im not sure is this a hardware problem or not. For example. when using menus with white background, the background goes partly blue. Sometimes the graphic error is only blue lines in some part of the white background.
but when checking one option in same menu the background turns normal or atleast there is some change in the background. So these errors reacts only when changing options. And theyre always in the same position when going the same menu.
Also when using camera. the view is messed up a bit. there is a clear line somewhere in the picture when going dark to bright. With my english its hard to explain especially when i dont have any idea what is causing this problem.
Below are two attachments that explains the problem much clearer than i can write:

}
And before you ask. Yes, it has dropped and i have replaced the glass. But i got it with broken glass so i dont know was it like this before it dropped and the previus owner couldnt tell either.
Any possible solutions?
Thank you in advance!
Sounds like a hardware issue, just for the heck of it I would open it up and check the ribbon cable to the digitizer/screen, it could be loose.
Pp.
Checked it. Same problem. Tried to change brightness level, hard reset, rooting etc with no luck.
Its just so weird that in some situations the screen looks totally normal. only these few situations cause errors in the screen.
Hmmm, there are dialer codes that are used on phones that run a series of tests to check screen performance and output, don't know if this can be done on a tablet, but I would research it.
The only other time I heard of this was on a phone that recovered from falling in a toilet, the phone was dismantled and cleaned and assembled and it worked fine for over a year, the only glitch was an occasional color spasm on the screen similar to what you discribe.
Pp.
Thanks for the tip! Need to look for those codes when i get back home. I removed the logic board and cleaned it with denat. alcohol. No visible damage at least! trying to assembly it back later today. I decided to order a new LCD flex cable. Its the cheapest part to change.
No luck with the codes i found. after cleaning still same graphical problems. Now i can only wait the new flex cable and hope it will fix those errors.
Anyways thanks for replys and suggestions. :good:

Did you replaced it yourself or somebody replaced display for you ?
Maybe you disconnected cable or something, it is very easy.

well I did it myself. Fortunately I hadn`t put the back cover on and tried turning the phone on....
a repair would have cost me around 180 $ so I ordered a replacement part for 70$ from wtrigs, I have already done that successfully with my Z2...
today I put it apart again, checked every cable or connector, still isn`t working, and also the VOLUME DOWN buttown isnt clicking when pushing it...
I think I broke the main flex cable for all the buttons (POWER, VOLUME UP & DOWN, CAMERA) when I removed it using some tweezers...
here is the part that I think is broken:

If buttons doesn't click maybe you didn't put the white(check picture) part back or its not mounted well...
